As a Indian, I am suspicious of Indian restaurants outside India, mot of whom are either not authentic or not tasty. Namaste was an exception. My wife, daughter and I ordered several chaats, all of which were tasty. The service was unobtrustive and efficient- it might have helped that it was not crowded, being 9 pm on a weekday. The bill was not high considering its location. Altogether it was a satisfying expereince.
Great food and service, looking forward to visiting when we can sit indoors 😀
Great vegetarian options - very authentic!
Service took a bit longer than expected. The food was good but expected a bit more from the earlier reviews I had read.
The food was wonderful but the service was really terrible. We were rushed through choosing drinks and food by 4 different members of staff and were given our bill without asking for it, just an hour after we sat down. This was happening to the table next to us as well. They told us we needed to leave as they needed the table.
Our cocktail glasses were also covered in dirty finger print marks. We complained about this and the manager wasn't welcoming of the feedback. I won't be going again.
The service and the food were outstanding, I would definitely recommend this place!
Indian food at its very best. Not your run-of-the-mill madras to korma fare, but exciting, delicate, fiery and flavoursome. Go as soon as you can, there will certainly be a waiting list soon. It only scored lower on ambience because there was a hailstorm while we were sitting outside - social distancing and all that.
Myself and a friend went here for the first time on Saturday evening for a birthday dinner and we were not disappointed at all. The food was amazing, value for money was brilliant, but most of all the service and attention paid to our experience was outstanding! We were served quickly and were asked countless times how we were and if everything was okay. Our waiter was incredible and really deserves to be recognised by management- wish we knew his name. Well done overall to the staff and the chef. We will definitely be returning :)
We had a lovely time at Namaaste. The food was delicious, they did a wonderful job at keeping you fed and watered and the service from the waiters was wonderful. HOWEVER, the service from the management has left us utterly shocked. Our wonderful waiter, who had been there less than a week, was clearing the plates we had asked him to clear. Then in swoops a manager accusing him of being aggressive and he instantly made everybody uncomfortable. The waiter was not aggressive. We had asked him to clear plates. We explained this and the manager continued to ensure everyone felt awkward by blaming the waiter. We then asked to speak to the top manager as we wanted to ensure that he understood our wonderful waiter’s service was impeccable. The top manager came over, we had a conversation re the waiter that was instantly ended by him saying ‘that’s nice to hear now can you leave, I have another table waiting’. We had this table booked for another 10 minutes, I still had drink left. We were astounded. It was absolutely shocking and we hobbled away (I’m on a crutch) laughing because of how awful the response was and we didn’t know how else to react. Food - great. Waiters - lovely. Management - DISGUSTING.
Lovely food, excellent service and delicious cocktails
The food was great, but the service was not good. The servers were friendly, however none of the 4 people who came over to our table throughout the evening knew anything about the menu items, the food they were putting down on the table, or the cocktails. They accidentally put salt in a drink instead of sugar, they forgot our rice and they got the bill wrong at the end, it was all a bit of a shambles. The manager was lovely and made us feel better but I wouldn't go back because the service was so poor.
I ordered food and sat for 45 minutes before I asked about where it was, I was told they were overwhelmed with takeaways. After over an hour I had enough of waiting for my food and asked to leave, they then told us it was ready but forgot our starter all together and brought the main. I chose to leave. First meal out in 6 months and they chose to serve takeaways before restaurant customers
Wasn't entirely happy with the quality nor value of the food. Meat was a bit tough on most dishes ordered.
There was a wide selection of interesting menu items throughout the meal and the rose & pinot grigio are good & well priced . The owner was there cooking himself , so we were treated to excellent scallop & prawn dishes as well as Lucknow kebab and butter chicken . The accompanying breads , fried rice and daal were beautiful quality .
The staff were very welcoming , attentive and friendly & focussed on pleasing the customer in the chill evening air !
Excellent food and friendly staff. Service was slow and not sure if was to do with reduced kitchen staff as a result of covid.
Lovely first dinner out of lockdown. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was very tasty. Despite sitting outside close to the high-street, it wasn’t noisy. Looking forward to going back!
This is a Bangladeshi restaurant purporting to be an authentic Indian restaurant .
There was nothing authentic about the food. We ordered a tokri chaat which was soggy, tandoori prawns which had no flavour and felt like it did not come out of a tandoor. The worst was pani puri. a staple of typical Indian street food, it was just boiled chick peas with flavourless jeera water, there was no spice or tamarind anywhere. We just had to leave them, they were so bad.
The drinks were below par also , a badly made cocktail and the worst karak chai I have tasted.
If you want to sample real Indian food , #Dishoom, #masala zone, #Darjeeling Express, #Benares, #Roti chai and Ambala are better options.
Avoid this restaurant completely!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Namaaste Highgate, the food was very good and tasty and the service friendly.
Incredible food, great service. Slight mix up with overbooking, so we moved the booking back a little bit, but totally expected in first week of opening up & they were so polite about it. I have been getting take out from there, so it was really nice to go to the restaurant. Seafood moilee is my favourite main dish. The chickpea potato basket starter is insanely good. So is the aloo gobi mattar
Really poor customer service.
We had booked a table a few days in advance for 7.30 and was looking forward to eating at Namaste.
Upon arrival we noticed a queue of people staying outside waiting to be sat down.
After 10 minutes of trying to get someone’s attention we were confusingly told there was a mistake by a waiter, and there is no table for us. When we asked to know more we were told to wait for the manager.
The manager came out 10 minutes later and told us there was an issue with the booking system and we would have to wait for a table instead, despite being able to see on his schedule that we had booked.
This being the first Friday of lockdown easing we were left with little other options. We asked that we could instead have a walk and he promised to call us when a table was available. No call was ever received.
I can certainly forgive a electronic booking error however the way they dealt with it was really poor.
You won't lose much if you give it a miss. 3ppl out of 5 of us who visited have an upset tummy.
Service: Overall, terrible! Apart from one server who was really polite and cares for the customers, others were shambles. They got wrong dishes, they got names of dishes wrong, they dropped food.. My days! They got our mains and left it on our table without plates or cutlery (see pic) for more than 10mins without giving a damn that the food will get cold given outdoor seating and cold 12-14'c evenings. And the manager's response to that "I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do" - he was the most terrible of the lot. And no masks - they didn't seem to care.
Food: They have fancy names of dishes on their menu, including some Indian street food but the taste and preparation is no where close to authentic. From what we ordered,
Mains: biryani, chicken curry and bread were not bad.
Appetisers: chicken tikka was ok. Galouti not edible - don'teven try. Chicken Lollypops not bad. Pakora with samphire - didn't have any samphire.
Dessert: Gajar ka halwa with coconut ice cream - well they gave a vanilla ice cream which tasted a bit off.
All in all - never visiting again!
food was great although the kitchen was a little backed up it was worth it. The waiter was extremely helpful and nice it was his second day and did an excellent job considering he was alone on the floor most of the time he handled hmself well and gave recommendations. The food was great some more traditional some new versions, but all good. The cocktail waiter did a cracking job with the negronis and generally the cocktail menu was very good. The location was great if a little nippy in the outside seating, would suggest bringing a blanket w you if its a cold evening but I do get cold easily so might've just been me. will definitely come back!!
The service was quite slow
The food was ok not terrible but interestingly nowhere near the standard of the branch in Bloomsbury
Loved the food and the service and the decor is v chic! Recommend.
Excellent service. Delicious starters. We were full by the time the mains came out!
Food was excellent, restaurant was full to the brim and because of this it seems the staff are still finding their feet a little. Will be going back.
Lovely Indian food! Can’t wait to go back after lockdown
The restaurant is very new and very busy. The food was delicious but could have been warmer and the plates were cold. Am sure is just teething problems and won’t put me off going back again
We had a lovely meal - such a shame that they're having to temporarily close having just opened.
Superb venue, lovely staff and amazing food! Will definitely be back again.
This was our first visit and having read reviews we anticipated slow service. We arrived at 7pm and were pleased that our order was taken quickly and by 7.30 we had been served with drinks and our starters. However our mains did not appear til after 9 pm and chicken curry and the tandoori platter were lukewarm. Staff promptly took them away to heat up without question. The food - when it arrived -was great. We had a nice evening but there was clearly a mess up with our order.
This is a really lovely new place! The decor is very cool, the food really was very tasty and we were so full at the end. Good size portions and good variety on the menu. It had a nice vibe to it and was busy. Looking forward to coming back after lockdown
Impressed and will most definitely return. Good food, excellent service, attractive decor and happy atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble. A new venue that deserves to do very well 👏🏻 thank you for a lovely evening.
Most of the staff were great but one man kept his face mask under his chin and kept leaning across the table whilst we were eating. I asked him to put his mask on and he moved it to his mouth but not over his nose. Useless! I found him to be incredibly rude which is a shame as the rest of the staff were lovely.
The food was nice although one side dish arrived cold. It was a very expensive meal. £100 for three people and that was main course only and no alcohol!!! Such a shame
We were very excited to see a new opening on Highgate village given it is dominated by estate agents and hair dressers especially during COVID. Very happy to support a local business.
The place was busy on arrival at 645 pm. The menu is far too complicated for a place with 10 tables. Our order took LONGER THAN ONE HOUR to arrive. At that stage I think even the most patient taste buds have given up.
The food was nothing special, grilled chicken dish dry and king prawns bland.
Felt very chaotic all around. I understand the restaurant opened recently but that is no excuse and it baffled me to see take away orders being dished out whilst the seated in customers are waiting so long for an order.
Price was ok but for this sort of ordeal I would expect the manager to offer some sort of incentive.
Hope this feedback is read and taken on board by the management as based on this experience I can not recommend it and nor will I set foot again.
Food was fantastic. Food took ages. Hopefully it’s just teething problems
One of the best restaurants I have ever been too. I must go and experience.
I came to Namaaste kitchen to celebrate my birthday with husband and daughter and was made feel very special on the night. The decor is cosy, modern and well decorated. The menu was perfect offering enough choice for all of us to choose. As a pescatarian the seafood choice was plentiful and inviting. Everything was cooked to perfection, tasted authentic, and a delight for the eyes. The portion of the side dishes were generous allowing us to share and try each other’s dishes. The Masala chips were a fun addition to an already original menu featuring street food dishes and some classical dishes too. The atmosphere on the night was busy and lively. Overall a very good evening and would certainly return.
The restaurant is great and the staff are lovely. Very impressed with how well they are coping with Covid 19 rules.
Great food, beautifully presented in metal pots, will definitely come again
