What a major disappointment
I wanted to try NAHITA for the longest time and after making reservations through open tables , and getting a confirmation from them I was surprised and highly disappointed .
So this is how it started for us. For the longest time ,every year two of my best friends ( one is disabled on a wheel chair) we pick a nice high end restaurant to dine in Boston after Xmas. And since we do not exchange gifts this is how we celebrate. This year we choose NAHITA.
After dressing up , driving into the city on a Friday night. Finding parking and getting to the restaurant while pushing a wheel chair all was not easy . Once we got to the front door, to our surprise we found out they were heavily locked with locks and chains.
Meanwhile the lights were on and it looked liked the place was about to open . You can see through the windows that chairs and tables still had plastic wraps on and looked like the work was left abandoned. Not a person inside .
Disappointed we try to go on another famous institution across from NAHITA ,(Smith & Wollinsky) just to find out they were closed as well.
Our third attempt was at Davio’s right across the street and the hostess graciously took us right in.
When I told her we had reservations at NAHITA she was surprised to hear they took them considering the place has been closed since November and the second choice Smith & Wollinsky closed over a year ago.
My question is:
Why bother taking reservations and make
believe the restaurant is fully active with
holidays decors and lights on . Also I called to
ask if there was full valet service and I was put on hold and a reply came “ sorry we are busy at his time call later”.
I feel Open Tables needs to let people know when a restaurant is no longer in service and not letting reservations go through .
It was disappointing but thank to Davio’s our special get together wasn’t totally ruined .
Terrible experience. We left before eating. Don’t waste your time. Even the manager couldn’t care less.
Beautiful space, food was good but not great for the prices they are charging. Service was lacking.
Beautiful space, fun drinks, and a very unique, fun menu! I found a few of the items to be very salty, and my husband and I did not feel good the next day, I believe as a result! So just be aware if you are sensitive to salt. The cocktails were great, and I did not have a glass of wine because I felt that all of the wines by the glass were very expensive.
Horrible service. Waited 40 minutes for water and wine... had already finished half of our meals before we got WATER. Manager tried to accommodate us but didn’t try hard enough. Impossible to get anyone’s attention. Food was decent but not worth the service ignoring us.
Waiters need to improve their service a lot. Missing items. All in all service needs a lot of improvement.
Photos of restaurant are misleading, food is poor and service is horrendous. When we were seated at our table there was a dirty champagne glass randomly on the table. My wine glass was very dirty as well. The waiter told us she wasn't actually a waiter and that's why she couldn't answer many of our questions about the ingredients in the food. Food was bad. Throughout the meal, other waiters would mistakenly give us other people's food. I would not recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant messed up in several ways.
We were there for dinner Friday night. The place had no atmosphere, it was empty. We ordered the Guac & chips and cocktails to start. We finished the guac before our cocktails arrived! Took over 20 minutes to get our cocktails. The service was absolutely horrible. The corn had so much salt that we could not eat it but they did not take it off the bill as a courtesy. The sashimi and ceviche were good. We were hosting out of town visitors and felt bad that we selected such a horrible venue. Definitely not worth the hefty bill at the end of the evening.
Fun place to go to. Love the guacamole and Pisco Sour.
Terrible service and food. On top of all this, they charged my creditcard 2 times.
Timing is off. My entree was brought to the table after both my dining companions completed their entrees. My appetizer came out after my entree.
One of my DCs has a gluten allergy and order a GF appetizer off of their GF menu. When it arrived it appeared to have breadcrumbs in it. We had to ask multiple times if the dish was GF, after 20 minutes, they confirmed it was not.
The whole duck dish was amazing and a wonderful sharing experience. Everyone in our group including the vegetarians were extremely happy with their food. Delicious!
Food was excellent, ambiance was excellent, but the service left a lot to be desired.
We love Nahita! Amazing food and atmosphere. Get ceviche!
This was a real let down. We were a party of 8 and no one left impressed. Friends who we were dining with were embarrassed because they had recommended it. But they couldn’t have predicted that pushy sommelier and poor wait staff. Overall just a sub par experience.
Excellent meal and outstanding service. I would highly recommend Nahita and would go back!
The restaurant looks beautiful, fancy, and upscale. The food came nowhere close to matching that look.
On our way to the restaurant I received a call from the manager asking if we still wanted to come in because they were considering closing early since it had been slow. Not a good sign.
When we arrived he told us we couldn’t have cocktails because the bartender cut his hand and went home.
When we asked for a few things on the menu, we kept being told they were out of those items. Selected 2 bottles of wine and they were out of both.
Ended up ordering the Fried Zucchini blossom tacos.
Flavors were bland, and recipes were terrible. Zucchini blossom tacos should have a lighter fluffier cheese in them - not a congealed mozzarella type cheese. You should be able to tell that the blossoms are fried. The pico topping had to be something out of a jar. 100% not fresh.
The elote was a disgrace. Baby corn?? Served on a bed of corn silk and husk? No. NO. Again, it seemed like something out of a can. This needed to be real corn kernels, should have had a spicy, lime, creamy mayo and then the sprinkle of cheese and maybe even something crunchy on top for texture.
The waiter offered us a salmon and RICOTTA cheese ceviche as a substitute for a ceviche we ordered but they were out of. RICOTTA cheese. We confirmed this multiple times. We ordered it without the cheese and it was still inedible and had to be sent back. What is happening in this kitchen?? I eat everything and LOVE experimental flavors and recipes - but this was ridiculous.
Waiter came back to tell us they wanted to close early and asked if we wanted anything more to eat.
Although the manager was nice, it was a frustrating experience. We absolutely over paid for the quality of food and service and left the rest hungry.
Swanky digs with decent food. Overall good, but felt underwhelmed on value. Case in point...$28 uni tacos stuffed with so much guac I could not taste the small portion of uni in the taco.
I've been to Nahita several times at this point and this was the worst level of service I've encountered in any restaurant in a long time. We checked in 20 minutes prior to our reservation and acknowledged that we were early so we just grabbed drinks at the bar. The hostess came over 10 minutes later and said our table was just getting set up. She never came back. Now 30 minutes past our reservation we finally had to track someone down to figure out what was going on . The hostess had forgotten about us and given our table away. Mind you, it was Saturday night at prime time and it was not busy.
We were now 35 minutes past our reservation time and finally being sat. We sat for close to 15 minutes before we had to get up and flag someone down to even greet and give us water. No apologies, no comps - nothing. Terrible service.
Nahita's space and decor is amazing, their cocktail list is inventive, and there menu is creative. However, everything glitchy and at those price points (about 20% higher than it feels it should be) you can't have glitchy. Staff seemed overwhelmed and not familiar with the new menu, missing lights en route to the downstairs bathroom made it treacherous, the kitchen went off menu by throwing in extra ingredients, twice (and not in a good way), and when we pushed back on these new dishes (which we didn't order) both staff and management confirmed they order the right thing so .... instead of just looking at the items and hearing our issues. Then we had to get things taken off the bill that they took back. All in all, disappointing. Last year it was so much better. I hope they figure it out because the concept and space are really exciting for the Boston market.
Inventive, fresh food. Highly attentive staff. A special evening all around.
All dishes had the same flavor, very one note. Drinks were a plus as was atmosphere
The food, presentation , decor, and vibe of the restaurant was amazing! We had multiple staff waiting on us which is was lovely and they were all very nice!
Food was good, but service was a bit disappointing. The music/background noise made it hard for us to hear the waiters as well.
The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. The food came quickly and every dish we ordered was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. Specifically, the manager Gamze was very welcoming. This restaurant is a hidden gem not yet discovered, I highly recommend going here.
Gorgeous space that was empty at 7:00 on a Saturday. Our table had grilled meatballs, calamari, queso fundido with chorizo and we split the "barbacoa" short rib and the duck tacos. We LOVED all of the food. The service was obnoxious. Incredibly slow except when the waiters (multiple times) swooped in out of nowhere to clear plates with food still left on them. The last time, he asked if we were finished when about 1/4 of dish was still there, I said " I think we are still working on that" and he audibly laughed in my face. It was INSANE. Side note, we were in and out in less than two hours, we left before 9 on a Saturday. It's not like we were camping and they needed the table. I will go back, order the exact apps, and be sure to sit at the bar. I'll do it soon because this place will certainly not last.
Completely unfortunate that a beautiful upscale restaurant is so terribly managed with slow and very unskilled service. Our server was pretty much non-existent. He showed up only when we wanted to order. The 1st were cocktails, which took over 20minutes to serve,(bar had only 6people seated and restaurant was at 1/2capacity or less. Bartender was too busy chatting up with another server sitting at end of bar) order apps and dinner. We asked for wine list to order a nice expensive bottle for dinner. And have it decantered and ready for dinner. He dropped off the wine list and never came back to take wine order. He brought the apps and rushed off quickly. During dinner we drank our 2nd round of cocktails, which took even longer..around 25minutes. We complained to the host who went to the bar to look into. He also disappeared and never came back to us to apologize or remedy. After dinner was fully over, our server had the nerve to ask us if we wanted to order wine!! seriously?? The only good thing he did was recommend the assorted dessert platter. We will NEVER dine here again.
Came in for dinner as part of a surprise party for my boyfriend. Left a note on the reservation to not mention our other guests. Called the restaurant to confirm not mentioning the other guests. We walk in and are greeted by a gentleman who looks at our reservation, reads it, ignores the woman behind him adamantly telling him the table number and to just bring us there, then tells us our other guests have arrived. Granted, he tried to save face by jokingly showing us to a 2-top.
The food was fantastic and our waiter was great.
However, when our food was getting delivered, the same man dropped some sashimi to the table, but when he asked what the dish was he replied with “fish”. When we asked which sashimi it was, he told us he’s a wine guy and hurried off.
Now, I’ve worked in restaurants for nearly 15 years doing everything from working on the floor to being in management. I get it. I do. And I’m sure he’s great at the wine aspect of things. But, he clearly should not be doing anything else in the restaurant. Maybe it was a bad day. Maybe he’s new. Maybe he was just off. I don’t know. What I do know, after our brief interactions with him, it seems like maybe this wasn’t a fluke.
Regardless though, will be back. Loved the food. Loved the drinks. Love the buildout.
The food was excellent, for me the decor and ambiance were unattractive. Service was a little disjointed. Wasn't unhappy that I went but probably will not go again.
Group of five and Server forgot three of our items and took forever to even get our drinks even through The restaurant was dead . Beautiful decor , food that we got was decent. But I would say service is horrific.
Beautiful food & ambiance. Service is severely lacking.
The dining experience was great. However my phone fell out of my pocket
Very tasty sebiche and tacos. Service is very knowledgeable and polite.
Special shout-out to Patrick the bartender, great custom cocktails and conversationalist.
This was our first time at Nahita and we loved it!! The food was amazing, the venue was beautiful and the waitstaff were super friendly and helpful with wine selections. Would defiantly recommend :)
one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. amazing all around. very impressed with the creativity of the menu, the quality of food and service. I look forward to the next time we dine there again.
We have been several times, and we are always pleased with the quality of the food and the service.
Food and drinks were lovely, fresh and vibrant!
Excellent Tacos and Pescado
Absolutely terrible service. Took 20 min for someone to even come over and acknowledge us. Our waiter was nice but not attentive at all. We only saw him 3 times throughout the whole dinner. Our drinks came out 45 min after we were there but they weren’t that busy. Literally the worst service I’ve had in a long tine. Would not go back or recommend to others. Funny thing is someone warned me the service was bad before I went so it’s obviously not just us!
