I wanted to try Nagomi Izakaya for awhile as a potential date/sushi spot. Especially seeing the pictures and reviews. It was mostly positive, but some mixed as well, so I went solo in person today to see for myself. And it didn't disappoint. Booked on OpenTable and was the first one in. Service was fast with water and food being served promptly, though they were slow giving me my check at the end. I loved the interior vibe though. The outside is plain, but the inside is cozy, with the music not being too loud, which is perfect for conversation. I played it safe mainly having sushi entrees and basic app like Takoyaki. Delicious! And the quality was good. Didn't fall apart. Portion was enough for me. But trying it in person quelled any worries I had. A gem in that area. It might cost more for some items, but think of location and the various food options. I think it's worth it! And I'll be back soon!

Don’t judge this place on its storefront or decor. I was skeptical but tried it out based on reviews and the food was amazing! Best Japanese food I’ve had in many years. We will most certainly be back and will send friends.

Best sushi I have ever had in Boston. I have been living here for 20 years and used to go to Fugaku but this place is amazing. The maki rolls were fresh and the combinations were original and delicious. Also the makis were worth every penny, it was not only a bulk of rice, it was real fish, real crab and real caviar. Highly recommend this place. Also the service was great! I will definitely go back!

Place seemed nice and generally the food was good... However, the experience went downhill when my mom found a huge bug in the basket among her shumai. The staff were helpful and apologetic about it, however it was not a good experience and she was ill the next day.

Great food, service, and ambience at a good price point. Enjoyed the miso soup, sushi! Give the house sake a try. Convenient location right off the Kenmore T stop on the green line.

Easy to reserve! Such a fun date/casual location. Presentation was precisely amazing, and the service was super attentive. There was many options and the omakase was a great option to try a little bit of everything! I'd recommend and come back.

I have only tried the deluxe plate for 2, and I would highlight the sashimis, they were melting in the mouth, but all the pieces were yummy, definitely worth the money.

After having lived in Japan, and enjoyed good Japanese cuisine for over 20 years, we are very picky when it comes to going to an Izakaya. This may be the best I’ve found outside of Japan. Great food, fresh fish, and wonderful creations from the chef. Wagyu with shrimp and a yuzu drizzle as an appetizer. Chutoro (fatty tuna) which could stand up against the best fish at Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo. A fantastic experience, worth the money. It wasn’t cheap, but we will go back again soon.

Excellent traditional Japanese food -- got black cod special -- perfectly cooked and seasoned with beautiful asparagus also perfectly cooked. Very good fried tofu appetizer and rice / salmon special also excellent. Would have expected a pot of loose green tea, not tea bags, and service was a bit strange -- felt rushed.

I brought 3 friends to try Nagomi for the first time. We were blown away by everything. The food, the service, the ambiance. Anything with uni is my favorite on their menu, it’s so so fresh!!! I would recommend this to anyone that loves sushi. It’s certainly is my new favorite Japanese restaurant.

I take many trips to Japan for work. USA sushi is not nearly as fresh and good. I found this place to be as close to Japanese sushi ! We were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. Thank you!

I was excited to try this restaurant because the menu offered some items that normally do not appear on menus in Boston. The food is mediocre at best. The sushi rice was terrible. The rice had little taste and cooked too hard so that the grains of rice was separating from the sushi and rolls. We got two TINY pieces of sushi with salmon for $12.00 and the hamachi tuna still had rubbery skin left on it so that we could not cut through it. The portions are very miniscule and way over priced. I would not recommend this restaurant it was very disappointing to say the least.

We were refused to be seated because one of our guests had a service dog. We even notified the restaurant about the service dog when we made a reservation online. We nicely explained they could not refuse to seat us because we have a service dog and "service dog certification" doesn't exist. After showing them the ADA website and Massachusetts state website clearly state service dogs have an access to anywhere the handler has access, they refused and even asked dog's vaccination record (which we were happy to present even though they are not supposed to ask). We understand that all employees are unaware of all ADA regulations; however, we provided all the information they needed to confirm. We wish the owner will train all employees so it won't happen to other customers.

I was pleasantly suprised by the authenticity and freshness of fish offered her especially since we're next to Boston University, I thought it was some more generic. I was very happy with our dinner and everything was delectable.

My wife and I decided to celebrate her birthday at this restaurant while we were on a trip to visit our friends in Cambridge. We were not disappointed by Nagomi. The layout of the restaurant is suitable for izakaya style dining. I was surprised to see so many families dining together. This set an unexpected ambiance, but all was well.

Signature Omakase for 2 paired with hot sake, grilled squid, and unagi maki for the meal. All presented in an interesting way, VERY fresh, and very tasty. Japanese passion fruit margarita and dirty mango martinis were a great finisher. Would very highly recommend to anyone who enjoys fresh seafood.
