Went before the Billy Joel concert on a Friday night that we also had a reservation. The place was packed and very loud, the menu was a smaller version of what was listed online (with no warning), out of fried pickles and burnt ends, and the service was slow. I understand they were really busy, but I would've thought they would've been prepared. Took us 30 minutes just to get a drink and when our food finally came, after asking 3 different people for silverware, I got up and found it/got it myself. The food was tasty and I would go again if I were in the area/it was not slammed, but probably not the place to go before a concert or if they're already busy.

Food was good mine was barely warm others thought the taste was good but the kitchen and staff looked unorganized I think if we went back at not such a crazy time they might be better

-No one to greet us when we arrived -$3.50 for "side" of pickles, which was four pickles from a jar -Out of collard greens -Out of fried pickles -No ice tea brewed -Door to smoker left open - we smelled like a fire pit when we left -Burnt ends (tasted great, actually) served in a cast iron skillet with no plate and no side -Coleslaw from a can -Managers standing outside instead of greeting customers inside -Hardly anyone at restaurant an hour before a Cubs game, which tells you what others think of the place -Waitress lacked confidence and knowledge of the menu

We went after the Cubs game, had a reservation and they didn't even put our name in for dinner. We had to go up and ask two more times for a table. Very disappointing. Food was average.

Made a reservation for 5:45 pm before the James Taylor concert at Wrigley Field. Initial attention was spotty. Whey we told the waitress we wanted to order food she told us the kitchen was tremendously backed up and we would not be getting food for at least an hour. Since this would cause us to not make the concert on time we walked out. The restaurant was loud and staff seemed totally out of control.

I had high expectations of Mixon's considering his great reputation as a BBQ competition champ but was quite disappointed on my first visit. We arrived at normal dinner time only to told that the brisket wasn't quite ready and burnt ends were not available for at least 2 hours. Our waitress knew we had an event to attend but somehow our food came after an hour wait and then it was just lukewarm when it did come. To make matters worse, we watched later patrons be served their meals before us which considering our time issue was really unacceptable. I will say that despite the coldish food we were served, Mixon's ribs were delicious. We had brisket which was tasty but different than we usually like (e.g., Smoque). Sides including hushpuppies, pickles, beans and fries were decent but were not served at the appropriate temperature. Finally, had to chase down the server to get my check and then process the CC and skidattle to our venue with a lot less time than we had planned.

Everything was very good. Unfortunately- they were out of Burnt Ends and the Cupcake Chicken which are there house specialties. Very disappointing considering that was 5pm on Monday. In fairness, they were up front and told us that when we arrived. Just a bummer because it was too late to alter our plans at that point. The brisket and pulled pork were OK.

Waited an hour after we ordered to get the brisket. Service-wise, with the exception of Nevada(the bartender's real name), we had to flag-down somebody to get us a drink. When we FINALLY got our food, NO ONE bothered to ask us if it was okay. Bar manager said NOTHING to us about waiting an hour for the brisket to finish. Food portions were small and not really worth waiting an hour for. I was looking forward to a great experience, didn't get it at all.

Bloody Mary's we're loaded with BBQ spice, brisket was overcooked ... they didn't have chicken, hush puppies, wedge salad material ... all of which we're on menu. Biggest issue is ... they.didn't.care! Back room is an absolute mess and visible to the public... they will close down.

Made reservations in April for dinner before the Jimmy Buffett concert in July. Showed up and was told there was no food left. No phone call, no email, nothing. And made the very young hostess turn people away. The manager should have greeted everyone who had a reservation and express his/her apology. Maybe even find us a reservation at a nearby restaurant.
