View Private Dining DetailsThe valet service team was extremely rude. We just decided to park elsewhere.
In my reservation, I had indicated it was a birthday celebration and I was told we will receive birthday dessert. There was nothing.
The server kept rushing to pick up our plates when we were still eating.
Overall was not as pleasant an experience as we had imagined.
Nice ambience. Good food and good service
It would be nice to have more vegetarian options. The food was good as was the service. It was a Saturday night and was busy but it took awhile to get our drinks. We got our appetizer before the drinks.
Party of seven. Service and food were excellent. As the host I felt it was an excellent value. Only complaint was noise level.
Great food and service. They got the food out quickly, which was great for an hour lunch during the work day.
If you are looking for a loud, noisy restaurant with mediocre service, this would be a good choice. The food was edible enough, but it was not distunguished in flavor or presentation.
The food was very good. There was so much noise that it was difficult to talk.
Fabulous and attentive service. Wonderful food!!
I really enjoyed the food , drinks and the server Sebastian was great
Everything was largely fine - except the noise level. It’s cacophonous. Could hardly hear the server at times. Had to bend towards my dining companion a couple of times during conversation.
Nice atmosphere
Things were good but not as good as usual. The place was very busy and therefore food was slow in coming out and the quality was a little off. My pino Paloma was too sour to enjoy and my branzino was full of bones and over cooked, yet our side of Brussel sprouts were under cooked/barely cooked. My husband's halibut was perfect representative of meals we've had here I the past.
Should mention we dined here on a very busy Saturday evening during Cherry Blossom weekend. The food was generally okay, but I did feel as though the dishes (soft taco apps, enchiladas, for example) were prepared almost cafeteria style in the kitchen. I say that because there was a definite unevenness in temperatures, with temps mostly cool to lukewarm. I have dined here in the past when less busy, and had the paella, which does need prep when ordered, and found the dish to be excellent.
We were seated promptly, but it took a while for the server to greet us at the table. After that, we were well attended, but with little downtime. Our entire dinner including two rounds of drinks, apps, and main courses took less than an hour, but oddly we did not feel rushed.
The recipes are great and imaginative, and I would certainly return, but not when too crowded.
Bad service, did nothing special for birthday, rushed, bad food
The food was decent Mexican for DC, but not great. The margarita was pretty weak, and the service was so-so. It was a busy night, but for a Friday night, you'd think the restaurant would expect that in their staffing plans.
Good service, good food, good value, good ambiance...
We were in DC for a few days and our concierge recommended MXDC for some good Mexican food. He was right! We met up with a friend who was also in town and had a great dinner, with good food and the price was reasonable as well. Will definitely go back.
Server was excellent! Food great!
First time trying this place. The Sat sangria specials was a nice treat. The atmosphere was pretty good, although I guess someone new was operating the lights, cause there was some issues with them being turned down too much. The biggest negative I have of the place, is I don't feel like we got our money's worth on the food we ordered. I definitely left hungry, as the portion sizes were small.
My wife and I stopped by on a whim while visiting DC. We were seated downstairs next to the waiters' station. We asked if we could move to a nearby table and were told no because the table was dirty, and apparently it couldn't be cleaned for us in a timely manner.
I mentioned the location of the table because we were subject to some conversations between waitstaff criticizing other customers in quite vulgar language. They were speaking Spanish, but if you live in any major city in the USA, you should know that other Spanish-speakers are always within earshot. My wife was offended and said so to the two waiters in question. I'd say the service was the worst part of our experience there. The only person who seemed happy to see us was the woman who delivered our food to the table.
Regarding the food, it was OK, albeit a bit expensive for what we ordered and compared to what we are used to. For the record, we live in Manhattan (NYC) and eat out several times per week and therefore are not upset by high prices as long as the quality of the food and the service match.
The pork shoulder tacos are incredible. Everything was fresh and the service was outstanding.
Service was courteous and friendly, as I had to wait for 20 minutes at my table for the rest of my party to arrive. Fortunately, I could be seated immediately and could sip water and sangria while waiting. The group enjoyed a relaxing and fun get-together lunch, before going to explore the rest of the day in DC during the kite festival and cherry blossoms. This restaurant was picked because of its convenient location to the White House and the National Monument, its good cuisine and tasty sangria available in pitchers that could be shared. We had two pitchers for 3 people over two hours of leisurely conversing and dining.
Birthday dinner
Went to MXDC last night for date night with my boyfriend and had a great time! Love the ambiance at MXDC and it seemed really fun. Our server was Sebastian and he was amazing and super attentive and informative. He gave us a good lesson on tequila which was great!! Would definitely recommend going there for a fun night in DC!
Wait staff really was not helpful. Inattentive table service.
We’re pescatarian, and we were pleased to see several options. Even more pleased that the veggie & fish tacos and the bronzino were delicious, as was the mango margarita. The churros were a particular treat: warm, cinnamon-y, and scrumptious. Service was excellent overall, but there was an amusing moment when our request for water refills yielded my glass being filled and my dining companion’s next-table neighbor also having a refilled glass...while my dining companion’s glass remained empty. Lol!
Nice evening out!
The restaurant is neat looking on the inside/has good ambiance, however it was very loud. The service was very good. I thought the menu had good selections.
I was surprised that chips and salsa were not brought to the table given the price of the food. The portion size for the enchiladas was extremely small (We went in for lunch, so I don't know if dinner portions are larger.) When I am paying close to $15 per plate, I expected the portions to be a bit larger. I was also surprised that the burritos were served with your choice of fries or salad. I was expecting something like rice and beans or something with an ethnic flair.
Over all the experience was very good.
Great lunch sized portions. The truffle taco was scrumptious! Definitely recommend this restaurant.
The food was good. But the service was really lackluster and the music was really weird. Early two thousands linkin park and similar music is not exactly what you want to hear on a date.
I LOVED how aware they were of celiac and the requirements for SAFE gluten free food. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun and exciting, and the drinks were wonderful! Only negative is how loud the restaurant was and how close the tables were to one another. We felt like we were on a date with the couple next to us.
The food was fantastic, all but the beans. They needed some zest and salt. The drinks and service were also fantastic. I will definitely recommend this place to friends
The food was mediocre at best. The service was kind of rude. Tough to see this place thrive when there are so many great restaurants around.
Truly enjoyed ourselves. They will pack you in but this is ideal for people watching and the food and drinks were great!
Excellent Restaurant. More than we expected.
MXDC is consistently a great place to meet up for lunch -- great food and friendly, efficient servers.
Sebastian was wonderful — great service and recommendations!
Great place for a meal. Non-traditional Mexican cuisine. Really tasty food. Wish there was more space between tables. It feels like the goal is to pack in so many people that privacy is somewhat sacrificed.
Great-looking menu. Actual food is very underwhelming. Food is bland, as are the drinks. The paella for two had very few spices and very little seafood. Would not go back.
Great vegan tacos, and the meat eaters enjoyed their food too! The sangria was especially delicious.
We had an early dinner before a concert. Excellent service and cocktails. My husband loved the margaritas. Lots to choose from on the tapas menu. I would go back any time.
