MW Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
BEST VALENTINES DAY DINNER EVER!! ❤️❤️❤️ We can’t say enough kudos about the incredible special menu that MW put together for this dinner! The amazing ribeye specially selected for its highest quality was pure heaven, the seafood paella was an experience in poetry of flavors.
We loved the appetizers sampler, every bite unique. The desserts were amazing, strawberry in every incarnation and a mud pie that was spectacularly created with smooth rare Japanese Whiskey!
We were running late, so did a courtesy call and the hostess was kind, understanding and accommodating. Once I arrived, she even addressed me with my name ☺️ Lunch special was the best! A lot of professionals dining, a who’s who in business. MW does not disappoint!
Great everything! Except, I was facing the west windows. And even with the shades down, the sunlight is quite bright. The shades were raised after the sun went behind a building but it was still bright for about 5-10 minutes. Not sure if much can be done about that.
My husband surprised me with a lunch date at MW, and this first experience was fantastic! We enjoyed the amazing variety and value of their prix fixe lunch menu, I had the lightly crusted monchong and he had the salmon. The bread with ginger scallion aioli, and appetizer trio started off our palates on their way to heaven! The main courses had such a symphony of flavors and textures, which were so original and captivating. The desserts put us on the moon, and their artistic presentation photo worthy!
Can’t wait to go back!
The Prix Fixe meal is a good deal although it has gone up from $25 to $27. There were quite a few entrée selections. Too bad that they only had one dessert (banana cream dessert). Last time they also offered the strawberry shortcake which was a better dessert. Surprised that the restaurant was really empty. Last time it was packed. The toasted bread with the sauce was a nice extra thing they gave.
my son (16 y/o) and I have been ardent fans of MW Restaurant since they first opened. We're always pleasantly surprised that, rather than resting on its well-deserved laurels, they continuously strive to introduce new and exciting menu options. For example, recently, this past Sunday they had loco moco with a fusion twist. Our waiter was not only the epitome of a professionalism, but he was able to give us a description of all our menu items, including the sauces, etc. MW is our go-to restaurant for any occasion.
A Punahou classmate was in town with her husband so we met at MW. She owns a popular organic farm in Virginia. She ordered the loco moco and was impressed with how they turned a greasy local favorite into a tasty, flavorful dish. Her husband had the prix fixe menu (mochiko crusted Monchong) and marveled at the flavors and presentation. They’re planning to return for dinner!
2nd time in a month. Both meals with out of town business associates. They loved the mochi crusted Kampachi. Pork loin also a good bite. Not an extensive wine list but good values for good wines by the glass. Great dishes with local farm/ ocean to table dishes. MW restaurant is on my go to list for straight forward everyone will be happy and satisfied list. Oh don't forget the desserts they are delicious.
The food here was wonderful! Fresh and creative. I have a mushroom allergy and cannot eat raw fish. A little difficult on an island! They were accommodating and made me an incredible meal. Table spacing was great for a couple or a group. The restaurant is difficult to find. Once you get to the address provided you need to go to the backside of the building to find the restaurant.
Food was well prepared and very tasty. Service was excellent. Tasting menu does not have to be had by all members of the table (bonus!) cocktails were unique and inventive and tasty.
Menu was limited. There are few items to select from (although you can ala cart the tasting menu). Didn’t leave hungry but over all felt like mediocre ambiance mixed with a limited, pretty good menu wasnt worth the overall price.
The food and menu selections was outstanding. Once we were seated we were given menus and water. Finally after 20+ minutes I asked the waiter for the table next to us who our server was and he agreed to check. Finally someone came to take our order. We had made eye contact with several servers while we were waiting but all seemed to avoid us. I hate to think what would happen if we had not said anything. After our order was taken our service was fine - but nothing outstanding. After the meal I was clearing the lint from the white napkin off of my black pants when the hostess said - you should have asked for a black napkin. I really feel my server or hostess should have noticed when I was seated. Every other upscale restaurant I have been to with cloth napkins have taken their own initiative in presenting black napkins. How would I have known they had them available. With a little more polish this would have been 5 stars all the way
