MW Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I really recommend this restaurant! I cannot believe I live nearby it for almost 3 years and never visited before.
I had dinner with my husband here for a date night and we were surprised by how nice our experience was.
I don’t remember her name, but our server was very friendly and professional, and was always checking if the food was ok to our taste. The manager was also friendly and presented himself as soon we arrived in case we needed something.
The food is just amazing, it is in my opinion a very creative mix of Hawaiian and Asian food!
We had the kampachi ceviche to start, and the steamed Onaga as entree, since Onaga is my favorite fish, and for dessert we had the Lilikoi creme brulee, and cocktails. I recommend all and would return for those again, and also to try other items of the menu.
This is a special place especially during Restaurant Week. The food is outstanding! We were there for lunch and it was wonderful. The hostess is excellent and starts you out with a smile on your face. So personable and efficient.
The waiter was friendly but wouldn't explain the dishes. This was especially frustrating as there were several that sounded interesting. He could have decided we were going to get the RW menu so why bother??
We look forward to returning soon for the amazing food!
This restaurant is one of my wife and favorite go-to restaurants. We wanted to try their restaurants weeks menu. Unfortunately my wife dish was not prepared well. The center of the mochi crusted onaga (instead of kampachi because they ran out) was still raw. Waiter noticed and ordered another one; the second round was still raw. We didn't want the dish to go back again and have them cook up another dish, so we decided to eat half of it. My dish was good but but overall ambiance and service was excellent.
This was my first time to MW and I was pleased. We were greeted nicely and were seated promptly. Food presentation was "wow!" and it tasted great, too. (I had the pre-fixe meal.) Our server and his assistant were friendly, professional, and attentive.
My only complaint is the tiny bugs that swarmed our table during the entire meal. They didn't bite or anything but we had to constantly shoo them away, fearing they'd fall into our food or drink.
We had the butterfish. Why one would batter, albeit light batter, butterfish is a puzzle. It became tasteless. The serving was basically just the tail with a very very small filet (deep fried/again, tasteless). The crunchy consistency of the vegetables and, as well, the flavors (taste, scent) were just wrong with the butterfish. This restaurant has difficulty blending flavors and in trying to be creative can't seem to get it right. (On that note, please do not mix kimchee with your potato salad.)
For the hassle of parking ($5 valet + tip), with that type of food experience, the restaurant will be hard-pressed to have return customers.
I am rooting for this restaurant to succeed, but the food has to improve.
What a shame the bright and cold ambiance doesn’t match the sophisticated food. Hire an interior designer and make the place more cozy and/or sexy. It feels like a cafeteria.
With that said, the food, particularly the desserts are very good. A bit fussy but high quality. The server was gregarious but tried too hard to be funny and prove his chops in terms of food and wine knowledge.
Overall, a good experience. With a few tweaks it could be excellent.
Wade and Michelle run an incredibly fun and innovative restaurant. Service is excellent and food is wonderful. Recently experienced our 28th wedding anniversary there and I often take business clients to MW for lunch. Every time, without fail, our experience is top-notch.
What an amazing dining experience!
I dined solo on Saturday and had 5 courses. I paired my drinks, starting with champagne, then Pinot noir, then a burbon on the rocks. Everything was spectacular. From the food to the service. My only critique was the lighting; it was pretty bright in there! Suggestion to dim the lights a little. (See, I had such a great time I’m critiquing the lights!)
If you’re in the area and have the $$: GO! You won’t regret it. Amazing. Truly. Thank you! I’ll be back. Also: get the beef with foie gras. It was incredible. I’m still drooling over it.
Reliably awesome. I can bring friends from out of town and no matter where they are from or whatever kind of allergy or dietary restriction, the chef and his staff at MW always come through for me. The duck confit is not always on the menu, but when it is make sure to seize the opportunity, and if you leave there without trying a desert then you missed one of the greatest opportunities on Oahu.
This was my 4th time having dinner here and it did not disappoint. The food is creative and delicious. If you are looking for huge tummy filling portions you should go else where. If you want fresh, unique, and delicious meals then do come here. The atmosphere is relaxed and not stuffy. The tab is on par with any other high end city restaurant so expect $50+/person. I will return next time I am in town.
The hostess was not busy but made us wait.
The server assisted us quickly but was not happy with us when we reported the dust on the ledges next to our table
She only half wiped the dust away so we moved tables
The pork belly was over cooked & tasteless
The garlic rice was tasteless
The fish was also over cooked & dry
Portions very very small
MW was a recommended. We had reservation and they gave us about the worse table by the bathrooms. There were plenty of open tables. It was my daughter's birthday and I didn't want to scene, for it happens to often. The waiter was very good, food was excellent. The waiter helped to take my mind off the beginning of the evening.
This was the second time we took my father and we were all happy. They gave us a table with easy access for someone whose footing is not quite what it used to be. (At 97, he's entitled.) We expected him to use the walker but he chose his cane.
He was delighted with the Kalbi Short Ribs, as was my partner. We've had tasting menus before and they are fantastic. The small salad was quite large and full.
We love MW and look forward to trying Michelle's donuts in Waikiki one day.
