Food & service are always excellent. The strawberry shaved ice is the best!
Took out of town guests here and they thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Good food, service, ambiance.
My wife and I decided to do Valentine’s dinner a day early and took advantage of MW’s Valentine’s week 4 course menu and then some. Everything from start to finish was excellent! Austin our server knew his stuff and was to work with if you wanted to add on ala carte or something off the regular menu because we wanted to try the unagi & butterfish arancini with my meal which was the seafood paella on top the mochi crusted Kona kampachi, portions were perfect, just when you look at the menu you really wanna try everything and seriously there were entrees I would ordered but you only can eat so much. My wife order was thee best the honey miso butterfish, that I highly recommend. I just was dissappointed with one of the sides which was the Kim Chee, I’m sure they make in house but it taste like something you can buy at the market. Chef nothing personal, down the road at Taiyos Ramen is an off the chart Kim Chee that I think is the best on Oahu, if you can replicate that, it would be killer. Desserts were perfect too, the mud pie and the molten lava cake loved it! It is $$ but special occasions it is well worth it as they also have a very good expansive variety at the bar as well. For sure to be back. Thank you MW restaurant for an enjoyable experience and evening.
From the second I walked thru the doors customer service was impeccable. The bread was the best I've tasted in my life. The salad was top notch. The kampeche fish and noodles was great and the dessert was perfect.i highly recommended
Fantastic service. Order the Mochi Kampachi (entree) and the desserts pictured - you won't regret it!
Great customer service! I brought my best friend & family there to celebrate my best friend’s birthday & they were wonderful at helping us celebrating her birthday. The chef even gave her a little gift of homemade granola & pound cake. The food was delicious & the portions were perfect! Highly recommend MW!!!
Everyone from the waiter to the chef was warm and friendly, and there was obvious dedication to optimizing our overall dining experience.
Each dish was better than the next, taking familiar dishes and adding a flair of creativity. Special mention should be given to the chidori fried chicken and arancino. As for the dessert, it was the best coconut cake I’ve ever had.
It was a friends birthday, and the pastry chef was kind enough to gift us powdered sugar macadamia nuts.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone making a trip to Honolulu.
Always great service great food delicious services over the top thank you Wade and Michelle for always taking care of us
Excellent meal. Wonderful ambiance. We will be back soon!
This restaurant was recommended to us twice. We should have went after the first recommendation. Everything was superior. We will be back many times I'm sure to try out the whole menu. It's worth dropping by just for the desserts.
We had lunch which, on the whole was good, enough so that I would return. However, I chose the mochi-crusted kampachi and there were a couple of shortfalls: the mochi crust tasted a little gummy and the somen noodles were really gummy. Otherwise the food was very good and was presented nicely.
There should be valet parking at lunch. (At least there was no valet when I got there at 11:30 a.m.) The lot is too small and some of the stalls are reserved for other tenants. These days I try to frequent only those restaurants that have either ample parking or valet services.
Still one of the best local restaurants in Honolulu. Shines like the other very good restaurants in this busy "eating out" city.
We had a lovely meal here two years ago while in Waikiki on business and I wanted to come back during our vacation. The experience certainly measured up to my memories. They are inventive and exciting, combining local ingredients and menu ideas with international cuisine.
In addition, the service is way above average for any restaurant these days. Server's attention to detail, quiet involvement in the meal and knowledge of the food made the experience special.
While the restaurant is in an unassuming space, don't be fooled. It's focus is on the food and your dining pleasure.
I went here 6 months ago and the Prix Fixe Menu went up to $26! Same appetizers & dessert choices!
Missed the Fried Butterfish entree with Kauai Shrimp & Scallops entree.
There was an annoying fly/bug in the restaurant too! You wouldn't expect it at this caluber of restaurant!!
But the service was impeccable!!
First visit. Hostess not very welcoming. Delightful amuse bouche and salad, OK entree, disappointing dessert and coffee. Mostly good service. Cold, sterile atmosphere. Prices too high. Won’t likely go back. Overall disappointing compared to their reputation.
Excellent food and service. Great location with easy parking. Paid special but not overbearing attention to birthday celebration.
Wonderful food with unique food & taste. The waiter was excellent (Deon) and made the dinning experience special!
We are definitely a fan and going back again soon.
Amazing omakase! Superb service and great ambiance.
We came here to celebrate our son’s birthday and had a fabulous experience. Exquisite food, top notch service and a beautiful restaurant made this visit great.
MW has become one of our favorite restaurants for special occasions such as our birthdays, anniversary, or in our case, a retirement celebration. The butterfish (teriyaki-style) and sea scallops (with lobster sauce) were excellent, as were the steamed baby carrots. The Caesar salad was nice but was also the only dish we would wish to be more "authentic," as we would normally expect from a restaurant of this caliber/price-range. The refreshing "Brulee" dessert was delicious. The server we had was very attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable about the food choices; and knew when to allow us to think over our choices. We were able to relax and enjoy the whole experience. We look forward to the next opportunity to return.
It was lovely! I went to treat my friend for her birthday and MW printed a special menu for her with her name on it. The waiter was very attentive and funny! The food was amazing (we went for the 3-course meal). And they even gave her a little gift at the end of the night.
What a lovely birthday celebration! MW knows how to do it right! The 5 course tasting menu was fantastic! It started with a sampling of 5 bite sized appetizers from the menu (chef’s choice), all of them excellent but especially loved the Wagyu beef slider! This was followed by a Mochi crusted kampachi then scallops. The main entree was a luscious red wine braised short rib that was fork tender over truffled mashed potatoes...sooo good. The final course was a gourmet dessert of lilikoi sorbet and custard layered with tapioca and tropical fruit and bruleed on the top. But it didn’t stop there. While we enjoyed our dessert they brought out a plate with a sampling of their MW candy bars (?)...needless to say we boxed those and took them home. Before leaving they came with a brown gift bag with a mini-loaf of banana bread a a bag of cookies as a birthday gift to me and gave each of us their signature cookie to take home. Wow! I’d definitely celebrate there again!
MW never disappoints! Love the flavors and the great service. Keep up the good work.
Very nice restaurant! A nice selection of drinks and very good food. I definitely recommend it.
My wife and I had our anniversary as lunch at MW. It was a great experience. The staff and the restaurant manager Micheal, were very friendly and went out of their way to make our meal special. We had the mocha crusted monchong and the butter shrimp...both were excellent and reasonably priced. We left very satisfied and will definitely visit again.
Very nice dining space that we can see the kitchen all the time. I chose prix fixe menu but asked to exchange the appetizer to one of the specials of the day, "Alaskan king crab and Kona abalone". This was the only thing that I dissappointed, the special menu was too salty for me.
One more thing, it looked prix fixe menu was just summations of each dishes. I recommend to choose favorite dish one by one from a la carte menu.
It was lovely- very inspired dishes and great service.
Excellent. Reasonable 3 course tasting menu!
As usual the food was great. We had been there before for lunch enjoying the food very much and wanted to try dinner - we were not disappointed. Our reservation was fairly early (6:30) and the place was empty, but within an hour the place was packed as expected for a Friday night. The reservation was made to celebrate a birthday and the staff acknowledged the birthday when we arrived. As the restaurant filled, we could see the staff was very busy, but attended to our needs very well. Since we told them we were celebrating a birthday, we expected a slice of cake or some gesture similar, but received none. We were not too disappointed though as we were very full from our meal. Later that evening while at home, I got a telephone call from our server apologizing for omitting to serve us a slice of birthday cake and promised us a piece of cake when we returned again. He was sincerely apologetic and was told we recognized how busy they were at the time and did not really have any more room for cake anyway. I felt sorry for him, but admired the action he took in calling to apologize.
We will return again someday as the food is great. And would be happy to have the same server again too. Despite the demands on him, he did a fine job that night.
I’ve been here a few times and thought it would be nice to take my family here for my husband’s birthday. Everything was outstanding! I requested that my husband have his old fashion ready upon arriving and that they did! I also requested for a personalized menu and it was there too! The food was very delicious from the appetizers to the dinner and the desserts! Service was excellent as well!! Thanks MW Restaurant, we will be back!
Excellent experience at this restaurant. The food is consistently great and flavorful. Love the presentation values too. Wait staff and bus boys were cordial and pro-active.
Great. Wonderful service, very attentive. Adding desserts to the price fix menu was a good idea.
The waiter was friendly and the service was great. Also, we enjoyed the food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I would return for another special occasion. Limited parking, but I was able to find parking near the entrance.
This was my first time to dine at this establishment. Dinner was excellent, Service was awesome with our server Eric.
Food was very good - well prepared - great plate appearance - taste was on point
Unfortunately service was subpar - from the start to finish
5:30 reservation - checked in at host desk with no smiles - no eye contact - took 10 minutes to get seated (there were only 4 tables seated in the one room restaurant! Hostess "marched" us to the table - no smiles - very haughty attitude - waited another 10 minutes for water (now there were 5 tables seated) - another 10 for the server (the service staff outnumbered the guests @ this time!) to acknowledge us - 20 minutes for the bottle of wine to be served - a couple of perfunctory check backs - waited 15 minutes to flag down server to pay bill - very underwhelmed. Server was informed & amiable but was more involved with his 2 large tables - we did not see much of him
My take - noticed a lot of staff standing around visiting with the obvious regular clientele - felt like an outsider - very awkward from start to finish - $400 for 3 people - not even close to being worth the price.
MW is one of our favorite restaurants. The meal is to die for and the service is extremely good.
MW was amazing for every turn.
We went for our NYE dinner for our honeymoon and the experience was perfect. It was a set menu but we got to taste 6 different appetizers to start out and we could not have been more thankful to try so many different things at once.
Waitstaff was knowledgeable, friendly and truly passionate as they enjoyed working there. Had a good convo with our server who told us how much he enjoyed working for the wife and husband head chefs.
New Year’s dinner with family and friends. Prix fixe four course meal — excellent balance of flavors and beautiful presentation. Butterfish with mushrooms, Kumamoto oysters with caviar, Wagyu beef done two ways — wow! One vegetarian was skillfully accommodated. We were placed in the quiet private room with a few other parties. Usually like to be in the main restaurant to see everything going on but this worked out fine. And—two desserts each! What could be better?
I don’t think the air conditioning was working. It was hot and was a little uncomfortable.
