About Mustards Grill

Aged for almost 30 years in the Napa Valley…
Since its beginnings as a local gathering spot over 29 years ago, Mustards Grill has blossomed into a destination for all who appreciate memorable food, superb wines and a warm welcome. Mustards food is Chef/Owner Cindy Pawlcyn’s mix of American regional dishes with global influences. The list of “Way Too Many Wines” represents the best from appellations throughout California and the New World.

Mustards is an American Grill, featuring flavors from around the globe. The wood-burning grill produces such favorites as Cindy’s famous Mongolian Pork Chop, chipotle –rubbed Quail, and the ½ pound Niman Ranch hamburger. The oakwood smoker fills the restaurant with aromas of BBQ baby back ribs and tea-smoked Peking duck. Specialties include Seared Ahi Tuna on sesame crackers and Crispy Calamari tossed with curried slaw. The eclectic wine list features hard to find gems from California, the American Northwest, & South America.

The lime tart with the meringue was delicious. A must. The pork chop was also quite tasty. Onion strings were piled high on the plate.

Really enjoyed the duck (having had the Mongolian Pork Chop there the night before). Yes I went two nights in a row! The entire staff is so welcoming I felt like a 'regular' - and I haven't been there for years! Buy the cookbook, so you can enjoy their cuisine even when you are not in Napa Valley.

This is an old time Napa favorite that was new to us. Most of the time it has a line out the door and reservations are difficult to obtain. We understand why because the staff was professional and personable, the food was superb and the decor charming. The highest praise we can give is that we took a friend to dinner there the very next evening and had another wonderful meal.

You must have the onion rings (which are more like onion ribbons than rings) and the homemade ketchup. My friend who had never been to Mustard's loved the place. We also had the ahi sandwich, beautifully cooked, and the apple crisp for dessert. Every bite was perfect.
Thanks!

This restaurant is a Napa Valley treasure! We took our family friends to dinner at MUSTARD'S the night before our wedding 29 years ago. It was terrific then, and it's still terrific. How many other restaurants have achieved that consistent quality over the years? As foodies, we can tell you --- very few!

Mustard's is always amazing. We go for bloody mary's at the bar, split an order of the Tuna ahi and split a burger and we are ready for a day of wine tasting.

Used to be a favorite, but the now common CA trend of farm to table and organic fresh choices has caught up and passed it by. 4 friends for dinner, none of us had anything exceptional that we would go back for - beet salad it was delicious but you can get those many places. One of us was very disappointed in taste and textureless (albeit) veggie burger – most places now have very good veggie sandwich options. My main gripe was sitting down at a table with a long black hair on the tablecloth that they then put bread on without a plate...

I used to cook in the most expensive French restaurant in the bay area. This place is legit, the bomb, the cat's meow, whatever phrase you use, but I'll just tell you it was one of the best meals I've ever had. I told my server to bring me the best entree with the best glass of wine to go with it. Mongolian pork chop. Go there. Eat it. Incredible!

I had rabbit. A little chewy, but delicious with turnips and Brussel Sprouts. My husband had the lamb burger. Divine. The tomato / curry soup was to far outthere for our tastes. The waitress was a little frazzled, but out of nowwhere there appeared a manager and saved the day. All and all -good time :)

Big portions, so save some, because you need to order the lemon-lime tart, topped by meringue, for dessert. It keeps me coming back!

Still one of our favorite restaurants in Napa, and even after twenty-plus years of patronizing it, Mustards Grill has not lost its edge at all. There was a time Mustards did not take reservations (they would "hold" a spot), but that policy was usually a disappointment. The true reservations system used now is much better.

Good ambiance and service was as expected but food wasn’t outstanding; it was decent and ok, but not outstanding. Had the mixed green salad, the lemon garlic chicken, baby back ribs and the fish special (mussels in curry broth)...the best was the fish special. All in all, an ok experience but not exceptional.

I used to like Mustards Grill but the food quality and taste has gone downhill. The pork chop was tough, the chicken wings tasted strange. Maybe it was an off night but I am pretty sure this is my last visit to this restaurant. The serving staff was great, as always.

The place was quaint, service was excellent, food was excellent. Chicken was perfectly cooked. The pork chops, their signature dish, wAs excellent per my husband. I cannot vouch for that since he ate the chops quickly and did not share obviously since the chops were sooo good. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Tue rabbit pasta and flat iron steak were perfect. Overall, an excellent experience. We are from Seattle, Washington!

Our second visit. Disappointed in the salads. Ahi sandwich was average. Chips with blue cheese- only fair with small portion and the blue cheese was cool. Menu was not what we wanted. Rabbit- pasta dish was not what we wanted. Flounder choice was also not what we wanted. Overpriced steak.
Not sure if we will try again.

We were here for lunch and very happy to see that we could continue our wine tastings here! We paired another tasting with lunch and had a great time. It is noisy, but it was also packed. The only problem I see is the line for the bathroom - if you are the table nearest you have a constant line of strangers near your table. The lamb options are always a hit and the gardens outside are not to be missed! But make a reservation!!!
