Since its beginnings as a local gathering spot over 35 years ago, Mustards Grill has blossomed into a destination for all who appreciate memorable food, superb wines and a warm welcome. Mustards food is Chef/Owner Cindy Pawlcyn’s mix of American regional dishes with global influences. The list of “Way Too Many Wines” represents the best from appellations throughout California and the New World.
Mustards is an American Grill, featuring flavors from around the globe. The wood-burning grill produces such favorites as Cindy’s famous Mongolian Pork Chop, Sonoma Rabbit, and the ½ pound Niman Ranch hamburger. The oakwood smoker fills the restaurant with aromas of BBQ baby back ribs, Wood Oven Duck, and our Oooeee Smoked Pork. Specialties include Seared Ahi Tuna on sesame crackers and Crispy Calamari tossed with curried slaw. The eclectic wine list features Way Too Many Wines from The Napa Valley, Sonoma, The Oregon, and Europe!
We were looking forward to a wonderful meal at Mustards based on the rave reviews. However, we were disappointed. Definitely the onion rings with the house made ketchup was a hit. We ordered the Tuna sandwich and the slow cooked pulled pork sandwich. Both were ok not outstanding - certainly not worth a 2.5 hour drive! The most disappointing dish was the ribs. Ribs were tough and very chewy but there was no flavor to the meat beyond the top grilled section. The rest of the rib was uninspiring.
Every bite of every app and entree was the best ever. From bread service, to wings, to duck, to pork chop to steak, everything outstanding. The kids meals were also fabulous. Table ready exactly at the time requested. Waiter and his team were prompt, attentive and we never were rushed. Sad we could not try dessert.
Wonderful dinner and service!
Great food...efficient, but slightly rushed, service...will definitely return
I just love this place! All the food is fabulous! I had the fish “catch of the day” tostada, my husband enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich, our friends had an ahi tuna sandwich and a burger. All were delicious, as were the homemade potato chips we ordered for an appetizer. The wine selection is very good—-delicious options by the glass or bottle (not inexpensive but worth it). It’s not a very big place, so I recommend making reservations...any day or time. Our friends from Arizona just loved the whole experience.
Great food. I had the Mongolian pork chop and my wife had the roasted duck. Both were amazing and the service was great. We’ll definitely be back
Celebrating our Anniversary.. the food was delicious
The service was friendly, the restaurant was packed so very noisy, the food was tasty but not fabulous
Pork chops and chips are a must!
The mushroom soup with walnut relish was out of this world as was the lemon/garlic chicken, salad and, of course the meringue pie. The staff, as always, were attentive, friendly, fun and just basically perfect. Mustards never fails and everything about the experience is as good as it gets. It is the go-to place for locals and where I bring friends visiting, especially when you don’t want to be disappointed. Extensive menu, extensive wine list and incredible service - what’s not to like?
Delicious! Best pork chop and best waitress!
Excellent restaurant to eat while visiting Napa
Yes. We arrived early for our 6:15 reservation and were seated promptly. I would say that our dining experience was elegantly casual! Our waiter was very friendly and professional. He graciously guided us through our dinner selections. His recommendations were spot on. We enjoyed some of the tastiest chicken wings ever. My husband had a very well prepared lamb dish special and my choice of their cheeseburger was exactly what I needed after too many wine tastings the day before! We highly recommend Mustards Grill.
Great food and great service, can’t wait to go back
Fun relaxing atmosphere with excellent food. Perfect lunch time ambience!
What a gem! Food was great, service excellent.
Excellent and fun as always
We come here every time we are in Napa, and it never disappoints. A large menu. No steak on it, which is a bit odd in that most nice restaurants carry a steak. However, the pork chop in tasty mustard sauce is a great substitute.
Very nice local fare, lots of history
Great menu and great service.
We took my sister and husband visiting from MT to Mustards for an early dinner. We enjoy going to this restaurant. The food was wonderful, except the burger was not up to it’s usual goodness. The bun was on the hard side and the beef was not up to par. The rest of the dishes were good. The service was good. The noise level was loud; it was hard to hear what was being said. That being said, we still enjoyed Mustards.
We had the most amazing server and that made the trip worth it! I really thought though that this was a higher end restaurant and not a diner-style so was a bit disapointed. Was also not impressed with the vegan pasta they made me, lacking in any flavor and hardly any veg. The only protein source was because I asked and it was a side of beans. I think people need to stop saying this is a good place for vegans to have something made. The other diners I was with felt their meal was just okay. The french onion soup was basically a bed of gravy with bread and cheese top. Everything else was non discript. Based on the reviews we were very excited to eat here so it was a big disappointment.
Fun spot with great food! Solid service and good value. Can’t wait to come back. Get the Pork Chop
I've been a huge fan of all of Cindy's restaurants but Mustard's in particular since it was her first in the Napa Valley. My daughter even worked there for a time right out of college and I always look forward to eating there, any time of the day. This visit I had the perfect saffron risotto topped with with a moist, tender beef rib in a balsamic reduction sauce. It was glorious, along with the salad of greens, simply dressed, one of the best in the valley.
Fantastic, as always. Love Mustard’s Grill!
Great Pork Chop!
My wife and I loved eating here. The service was amazing and our server had the most amazing mustache. The food was delicious too! I would highly recommend Mustard's Grill to anyone visiting Napa valley.
Great place to go! Love their pork chop! We live several hours away but always go to Mustards Grill for lunch if we are out that way.
Mo was the best server I have had in quite some time!
Always delivers. Great service, delicious food in a great setting. Pork Chop and Lemon Lime
Great food as always, we had the pork chop always outstanding and the ribs. Coming from Kansas City, wanted to try these ribs. They were outstanding
Very nice service followed by wonderful food & wine!
We just couldn’t stop talking about how fabulous this meal was. Every dish we ordered was fantastic! Don’t miss this restaurant on a visit to Napa.
The noise level is high but the service was fast and friendly. Simple things like the cole slaw was terrific. We are locals and typically avoid it because of expected tourist crowds and long waits but it was very efficient and good experience. Back on our local list.
Mustards is a restaurant that is obviously a popular destination to eat because it is always full. The exterior is simple as in the interior, but that is where the simple stops. After reviewing their menu, you realize that you have just entered a high quality restaurant that offers many unique selections. The ones we chose were both well presented and tasted great. Service was also very good, especially in keeping our water glasses filled. Mustards is definitely a "go to" place to eat but I recommend making a reservation first.
The soup (celery root, apple) was amazing, bug my entree, the Tostada was awful... soggy, hard to eat, the sauce was underneath everything so hard to incorporate, just bland and messy. Our waiter was hard to catch so I waited to get his attention to get salt for half my meal. I just wasn't impressed after all the hype.
Mustards is the best. excellent food, great service.
Our first time at Mustards will not be our last. The menu is innovative, varied, and rewarding for all types of taste. There's always a 'truck stop favorite' to honor the early origins of the restaurant in Napa Valley, but also a daily tostada, daily pasta, daily soup and much more. The many appetizers could easily be used as small plates and the wide variety of options on the menu mean that everyone should be able to find something they like. The 'worst' of our dishes was still very good, while most we would rate 'excellent.' Service was impeccable throughout, despite the fact the restaurant was very busy on a Sunday afternoon. We didn't have wine because we were out wine tasting, but Mustards has a great wine list - with many by the glasss.
Wagyu special grossly underwhelming for $66 price. It was a 500+ guest wedding steak.
Service was decent but 3 greens salad was a handful.
Long time fan but most first timers underwhelmed.
Chicken was excellent.
So very disappointed. Have been many times and Mustard's was always a favorite BUT this time came from Chicago to share what I thought would be a special experience with my friends and the floor and table were filthy, the food cold, dry & terrible, vibe dull, decor dusty -- won't return unless I read they have a big upgrade.
