Since its beginnings as a local gathering spot over 35 years ago, Mustards Grill has blossomed into a destination for all who appreciate memorable food, superb wines and a warm welcome. Mustards food is Chef/Owner Cindy Pawlcyn’s mix of American regional dishes with global influences. The list of “Way Too Many Wines” represents the best from appellations throughout California and the New World.
Mustards is an American Grill, featuring flavors from around the globe. The wood-burning grill produces such favorites as Cindy’s famous Mongolian Pork Chop, Sonoma Rabbit, and the ½ pound Niman Ranch hamburger. The oakwood smoker fills the restaurant with aromas of BBQ baby back ribs, Wood Oven Duck, and our Oooeee Smoked Pork. Specialties include Seared Ahi Tuna on sesame crackers and Crispy Calamari tossed with curried slaw. The eclectic wine list features Way Too Many Wines from The Napa Valley, Sonoma, The Oregon, and Europe!
Last day in Napa for a girls trip and made a reservation for lunch before we headed to the airport. Great menu, excellent wait staff and the food did not disappoint. We shared the potato chips with blue cheese dip - yum! I had the soup on the day Thai Curry Butternut Squash with Ahi tuna without the bun and my friend had the swordfish tacos. Everything was really good. Loved the heat on the soup and the Ahi was perfectly prepared.
Great food always! A bit noisy. Mustards is a must for us when we are nearby!
Outstanding service and food. Worth the drive from Calistoga after a day of wine tasting. Make reservations since this place is popular and fills up quickly. The pork chop with the mustard sauce was cooked to perfection.
This is our second visit to Mustard Grill. Must see in Napa Valley. Enjoyed their wine selection and daily specials. Kids meals are generous.
I look forward to eating at Mustard’s Grill twice a year when I visit the Bay Area. I especially look forward to their lamb burger but I like it with just lettuce tomato and onion rather than their special presentation. When I mentioned to the server how I wanted it she said “I’ll have to ask the chef if tomato is available” As I look around and see it on other diners’ hamburgers. She seemed really put out so I told her just to bring the grilled chicken which I could get just about anywhere else. Wasted trip.
Everything was really wonderful!
Great food & service.
Only negative: they forgot it was my husband’s bd...:-(.(I had emphasized it on my reservation)
Everything is divine! Not to be missed. Service and Food can not be beat!
my second time here and it won't be our last- wonderful meal fabulous vibe lovely staff. Everything you could ask for .
Food was undercooked, cold ribs, way too much garlic used.
One of the top ten worst meals of my life. Food was undercooked and no one asked anout it.
There's Something For Everyone Here, But The Bone In Mongolian Pork Chop Is So Good It Will Make You Cry!
This was a fantastic spot! The food was fabulous and the service was exceptional.
Favorite restaurant in Napa!
Outstanding menu choices and excellent food and service.
The special gazpacho soup, and lamb burger were delicious!
We enjoyed the food and our waiter, Jason made us feel very welcome! The lemon/lime tart was crazy good!!!
Service was exceptional. A casual but incredibly delicious dinner. Will go back!
Always one of our favorites! Prickly pear margarita from their garden was novel and superb! Every dish likewise unique and yummy.
Always enjoy dinner at this restaurant. Walked thru the restaurant home grown garden.
This is a must stop for my wife and I. Since her cousin was in town we wanted to take her to one of our favorite places to eat whenever we are in wine country. Needless to say, she loved it as much as we do.
Big fan of Cindy’s St. Helena restaurant, and since it closed made the drive to Mustards. So worth it! Looking for a late lunch, early dinner. Ordrerd the onion straw appetizer, delicious but too much for just two people. Burger and BBQ were equally good, and the lemon meringue dessert, huge, and out of this world. Will return soon and order from the full dinner menu.
Innovative selections. Well prepared.
Great dinner. All of us had the highly recommended Mongolian Pork Chop. With that we had the onion rings which were great. Superb. Also, great service by Ali. We were there on October 7th, 2018, the night a Spacex Rocket was launched in California. Nobody knew it was the Rocket we were watching in the sky but it captured the attention of everyone in the restaurant and helped to make that night even more special.
Arrived early and had drinks & appetizer @ bar. Service and food outstanding.
Called on time of reservation, server pleasant and helpful.
Meal ordered and served. Their food was served hot and presentation on plate made it.
Pork Chop was as stated completely “off the hook”.
NY Steak looked great however was not cooked to order.
This was swiftly handled by server and attending manager.
I was disappointed but due to everyone involved along with their Famous Lemon Meringue Pie which was “ WOW “ and their delicious coffee. I will return happy to dine again.
Thank You “Mustards”
For Barbra our server, my apologies to the Mgr. I forgot your name.
for Barbra our server and the on duty Mgr.( I am so sorry I forgot her name. My apologies to you.”
This was by far one of our best meals in Napa and we know Napa has a lot to offer!
Lovely! The pork chop was unbelievable and they were very generous with wine tasting.
Under staffed, loud, and so so food. Not what I have experienced in Cindy’s restaurants in the past.
First of all this is an immensely popular place. However; if you expect your reservation to be honored in a timely manner, scratch this otherwise good restaurant off your list. My gut feel is that overbooking is SOP (on a previous visit I observed the same pattern of not being seated promptly by the reservation time). Given the tools restaurants have at their disposal these days to manage customer flows, there is no excuse for delays in seating of more than a few minutes past the reservation time.
Comfort food prepared in gourmet fashion is the way I would classify the menu. The items we ordered were spot on in preparation and presentation. Service was sluggish, however; perhaps too many tables per server.
Good experience overall.
The food was good, but the service was terrible. It was very loud and chaotic. Next trip to Napa will not earn a repeat visit, even though food is the lure. Sadly, it's just not worth the experience.
Always excellent. Great food and service. Will return soon
We went to Mustards to celebrate our anniversary. We felt very special as they started us with complimentary sparkling wine. The wait staff were friendly and did a good job. The food was delicious. I tried the lamb, which is never had before, and I was very pleased.
Fresh and local ingredients. The ribs are usually excellent but seemed dried out this visit but coleslaw and cornbread to die for. Amazing onion rings and the chicken salad was wonderful. It’s noisy so wouldn’t recommend for quiet meal. It was my birthday and I was a little disappointed that they brought me a tablespoon of plain vanilla ice cream. It was tasty but thought they could at least add some sort of topping. I suggest to bring your own cake if it’s a birthday celebration
Mustards Grill is a must when I’m Napa Valley!! The reputation, the ambiance and the superb food makes it a true legend!
I have been here several times over the past 25 years and never left not totally satisfied!!
Mustards is a Napa staple that always delivers. Love going there.
Food and service were very good. The wait staff was very good!
We both had a meat dish, both were hard to chew
I read a couple of reviews that mentioned the sweet corn tamale, so we tried that. It was fantastic!
Also, the soup of the day was a squash and white bean with the most astounding flavor. My companion and I tried to figure out all of the different ingredients we were experiencing. It was masterful! We then shared the Hunan Grilled Chicken Salad which was very yummy, as well. You really can't go wrong with any choice you make. Only drawback, it is extremely noisy! Private conversation is a challenge.
Starting with the ease to make reservations to the fact that our table was waiting when we got there to the excellent, friendly, knowledgeable service to the delectable food, our whole experience was one to remember. We had friends visiting from Portland, OR and they were also quite impressed. We've never had a bad, yet a not so good experience. Every time we come we are delighted in many ways and not disappointed.
One of my fav's.....have been coming here for over 20 years.
Absolutely loved this restaurant. In the midst of so many great restaurants-this is a standout. We brought our own wine so we did not take advantage of the extensive wine like but we really enjoyed looking through the offerings.
The NY strip steak was incredible. Ordered rare+ and they served up a perfectly grilled steak with a little char on outside and perfectly grilled rare + on inside.
The dunguness crab cakes great. Salad with blue cheese was also delish
Service was great Will come back here
