Since its beginnings as a local gathering spot over 35 years ago, Mustards Grill has blossomed into a destination for all who appreciate memorable food, superb wines and a warm welcome. Mustards food is Chef/Owner Cindy Pawlcyn’s mix of American regional dishes with global influences. The list of “Way Too Many Wines” represents the best from appellations throughout California and the New World.

Mustards is an American Grill, featuring flavors from around the globe. The wood-burning grill produces such favorites as Cindy’s famous Mongolian Pork Chop, Sonoma Rabbit, and the ½ pound Niman Ranch hamburger. The oakwood smoker fills the restaurant with aromas of BBQ baby back ribs, Wood Oven Duck, and our Oooeee Smoked Pork. Specialties include Seared Ahi Tuna on sesame crackers and Crispy Calamari tossed with curried slaw. The eclectic wine list features Way Too Many Wines from The Napa Valley, Sonoma, The Oregon, and Europe!

This was our first visit to Mustards Grill in a long time. Visiting from out of town, we made our reservation weeks in advance. We arrived early and the restaurant was able to seat us ahead of our reservation, at what I consider a good table by the front windows.

Our friends split a salad, which was still quite large for each of them. The fresh bread literally placed on the table was fantastic - some of the best fresh bread we’ve had before a meal. Our entrees arrived shortly thereafter.

I’m a hamburger aficionado, and couldn’t resist the animal Ranch beef burger. Ordered and cooked medium rare, it was really delicious. The thick, hearty, large grained mustard delivered to the table was spicy and strong. Just what I’d expect for a restaurant with this name.

My wife had the mushroom “burger” and she said that the patty, basically chopped mushroom with egg and other binders, was fair at best. Like me, she enjoyed the accompaniments, the nice lettuce and onion, but the patty didn’t hold up and ended up like mush. We both noted that there were no tomatoes included.

Our friends ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and the pork chop. Like ours, there’s was one big hit and one miss. The pork chop was delicious, with a thick, tasty sauce. The cabbage and mashed potatoes sides were also really tasty. The chicken sandwich was good, and the bacon that came on it looked house cured. But overall, our friend was just satisfied with the chicken, not blown away.

Even though we were “two for four” on our food choices, the ambiance and overall experience were top-notch. This is the kind of casual, top-flight meal that solidifies the Napa Valley area as a wine AND FOOD mecca.

Wanting to dine at Mustard's Grille for some time, I was disappointed the moment I walked through the doors. The noise level was so high, it was painful to my ears. I could not hear my companion, and had difficulty hearing the server as well. I have perfect hearing. I am used to upbeat, loud ambiance -- this was painful -- giving my nervous system a jolt. Yes -- it was that loud. Certainly, the owners could do a fix on the acoustics. Unfortunately, if people don't complain, nothing will get done. I would recommend the Grille -- only if you bring earplugs.

Rhys was our server and he made everything that much more enjoyable. Knowledgeable on the food, friendly and fun. Smoked chicken wings, tamales and a pork chop hit home. The pork chop sauce has some bite to it so if you’re not a fan of the wasabi/horseradish style spice then maybe get it on the side

This was the 1st time I'd been to Mustards in about ten years. My mistake was expecting the same great food at a fair price. Everything started great with a fun and very experienced bartendar, nice hostess and very professional server. The caesar salad was okay, but the entrees were not. I had a rock cod tostada that was completely covered with greens 3 inches deep and over fried fish. My husband had the Mongolian pork chop that was tough and the plating was messy. The final negative was when the bill came and i realized i paid 32.95 for a really tostada! If I ever returned, it would be just to have a cocktail with the really good bartender.

Disappointment is the word I would use to describe Mustards. After having lunch at Cindy’s back street kitchen we had high hopes for Mustards. The menu was boring and the service was subpar. We got stuck immediately at a two top directly next to the hostess stand and the pathway for the waiters/tresses to the kitchen. Along with it being overbooked and extremely loud. Will not be returning

Had the featured pork chop-fabulous. Wife had lamb special with corn/zucchini mix like succotash. Also quite good. Great service. We are repeat customers and will surely be back.

Great meal while in Napa. We went to Ad Hoc, Bistro Jeanty, K And D, and Mustards while on vacation. We liked Mustards and Ad Hoc the best. We had the calamari as a starter, grilled lamb and mushroom risotto for mains, and lemon lime meringue pie for dessert. Great advice on wine pairings by server. Everything was spot on. A truly memorable meal.

If you want to rub (or bend) elbows with the local, in-the-know wine industry people, this is the place.

Honest, over-the-top, great food.

Vegans would go "off the wagon" for the pork chop.

Always come here for the hanger steak. Tasty, cooked to perfection, served with carmelized onions and fries with a creamy cucumber dip. I had the seared ahi tostada with mango salsa and cabbage slaw...just spicy enough to be interesting without overwhelming. No wine this time or dessert. Last meal of an overindulging trip.

The food was great. The management And staff are very friendly and accommodating. I am in Monterey ca. For the week dining and can not stop thinking about the good experience at Mustard several days ago. Can not wait to bring some friend to Mustard soon. Never in all the years that we have been going to Mustards Grill have we had nothing but wonderful food, and cheerful, attentive service. Special favorites are the onion strings, the grilled artichoke, the seafood tostada, the lamb specials, the calamari salad, Mongolian pork chop and their hamburger is the best in the valley.

We were in town from Toronto for our 30th wedding anniversary . Read positive reviews on Mustards Grill and so decided it sounded like a nice spot for our 1st night in Napa . We were not disappointed. Mustards is a casual " gathering place " for regulars and visitors alike it would seem. As a result the cozy confines of the restaurant can get rather " energetic " lets say. The staff , they are polite , attentive, and friendly. No pretense here ....zero Professionald to be sure. Just good food, great wine and a nice place to spend an evening. If you were looking for a 3 star Michelin experience , this might not be the place for you, but if your looking for an evening of good food , friends , fun and wine all in a friendly , quaint , comfortable setting ......Mustards has you covered and we for one will return next time we are in Napa. A special thanks to our server , Allie ( i think....sorry, i did say the wine was good though ...) , and to the restaurant for recognizing our special occasion and the cute little table for 2 tucked away in the glassed in porch . It did not go unnoticed. Best. K + C

Went last year during a long weekend to the Napa valley and the food & service were great! This time not so much. The calamari was a highlight, but the mushroom & gruyere “burger,” soup of the day, and Caesar salad were just ok. Nothing special about the taste or service.

We had to wait 30 pass our reservations, by the time we got to out table service was slow. My husband tuna was over cooked and my steak was under cooked.

We were a party of 6 and had a reservation for 8:30 on a Friday night. The first four of us arrived at about 8:15 and were told that we would be seated when the remaining couple arrived. The last two arrived about 8:20.

When we had not been seated by 8:45, I inquired as to the status of our reservation. The hostess told me that our table was still occupied. I was told the same thing by the same person when I again inquired at 9:15. We left without being offered a drink, the promise of dessert or any comment from anyone other than the young hostess who could not have cared less.
