Always enjoy a good meal here. Extensive beer menu and food is terrific.
Very disappointed that our reservation appearance was not recorded by the establishment so that we can be awarded our 100 points from Open Table !
White wine mussels were divine and so was the short rib pappardale. Emily took great care of us.
Unique and way tasty menu with a beer snob’s dream beer list. Great place for a group get together or meet up after work. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Portions just the right amount. Highly recommend for lunch
Nice place for food and excellent beer list.
Loved the mussels, even though they are not quite as plump In August. And the truffle fries are sinfully, exquisitely special!
Food was too salty, over cooked and just terrible . The manager tried to make it up to us with the tiniest desert I’ve ever seen and the bill still came out to 100 bucks . We normally are regulars but I don’t think we will be back .
Everything was great except for inattentive, delayed service.
Definitely get the mussels in wine sauce with the frites. The mussels were delicous and so fresh and the frites were crispy. When you finish with that..... leave or if that was an appetizer and you want to order a meal DO NOT order the Cioppino! Words can't describe how bad it was. Everything in the dish was bad including those unbelievably delicious mussels. The tomato sauce/broth is terrible. Two out of 4 ordered it and neither liked it AT ALL. Struggled to eat it. Service is wonderful, everyone is very friendly and on top of things.
Everything was great, however it is very loud due to how the restaurant is laid out.
Place used to be great. The mussel sizes have greatly diminished. They used to have the biggest plump mussels now they are tiny very tiny. Also the server was not very good. He knew little about the oysters. Additionally the menu on their website is totally wrong. Beer prices are very high. Off night?
No matter where you sit (except for the outside tables), the noise is so loud you cannot hear the person accross from you
The service, location and ambiance were all good. The food was a little strange. It had powerful spices that were not a great combination together.
Quite, great service, fantastic food. I hesitate to rate for fear it will become too popular.
Fantastic experience, through and through.
Didn't have A/C on and should have. It was a very hot and humid evening!
The mussels were tasty, but not the best I've had in the DC area. The portion was very generous.
I had the Thai mussels (pleasantly spicy) and my husband had the ones in white wine sauce. Beer is a big feature of this restaurant, and we don't partake, so I can't review that. The interior of the restaurant is noisy because of the bar scene and the construction, with little to muffle the sound. We ate outside on a lovely
early evening, and that was very pleasant. The frites were delicious and the single sweet potato fry
that I had (as a sample), even better. Service was good.
The grilling on the patio was a great promotion for June. Hope it is continued for July.
Absolutely best prepared Mussel & squid dish. Great tasting beer. Hostess, Roxy, was delightful and a pleasure to discuss dishes, preps, and beer mixes. Definite plans to visit again.
Overall satisfied with the night with an engine dinning with us but noise level was high due to where we were seated
Service wasn't great. A lot of Bones in the fileted fish. We didn't complain but was unexpected.
The food was mediocre, extremely overpriced for what you got, and I really didn't enjoy being seated right in front of the kitchen hot lamps when it was already oppressively hot in the restaurant. If you come with kids, count on being shoved in thur back of the restaurant by the kitchen.
Extremely rude front of house greeter. The chubby faced clean shaven guy at the front did not greet or welcome our party, very obviously deliberately delayed our seating time and lectured us as we showed up 15 minutes late for a reservation, even though we had texted as such and received a reply confirming our table was still available. Very rude to my wife when she politely asked to see a menu while we were waiting (30 minutes, despite the table we eventually sat at being open the entire time). Ruined our experience. That chump should not be in the service industry.
MB is always reliable with great beers on draft, mussels and other Belgian fares.
The disappointment was that unlike advertised in their email "Weekend Grilling on the Patio" which showcases the following:
JUNE'S WEEKEND GRILL SPECIALS
Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11am to 10pm
$19 per person
DRAFT BEER HAPPY HOUR PRICES! June 7-9th
Per our waiter this was not happening or only during the day (vs night?). I'm still not clear why this was sent out via email and advertised in the bathrooms when it was not really taking place. Oh well... we did not want it to ruin our evening, but MB should have retracted the email if this info was not correct.
Thankfully we had a great waiter, sat outside and had a great meal, albeit disappointed not to get the Lam shoulder or hanger steak from the grill....
Great beer. Average food. Too noisy for easy conversation.
Incredible and abundant food, the best tasting mussels dish was with tomatoes, basil and capers; the clams with linguini was another of my favorites,
This place is just so amazing. Service is always wonderful, the food is always fresh and amazing. And with so many drink options you can never go wrong!
Told we were celebrating a birthday and server did not respond.
I used to dine in Mussel Bar and Grille alot, but the quality of their food is not as good as it usual to be. The Mussel is not over cook, and they are not as fresh. We won't be dine with Mussel Bar and Grille anymore.
Food was very good; service good, but noise level was very high.
I have enjoyed the Mussel Bar & Grill on several occasions. I love the food which sets the bar for a great bowl of mussels. I would very much like Robert Wiedmaier to consider opening a restaurant in Reston, so I can visit more frequently!
When I wrote that service was outstanding, I am referring to the waitress who was extremely helpful. However, the man who seated us, basically lied to me. I asked if we could change to a booth -- we saw at least one empty booth - and he said they were all reserved for parties greater than two. This would be fine but a few minutes later, it was obvious that the restaurant would not be filled, that there would be open booths. So I asked the woman (who must have taken the man's place) and, sure enough -- absolutely no problem. She immediately moved us to a booth. There were lots of empty tables by this time, by the way.
As for the food, the oysters were very good, the mussels (I got Provençal mussels) were just so-so. But my husband loved the hamburger.
Fine choice for a mid-priced restaurant in this area. Nice menu. My steak arrived just warm but the frites were perfect - maybe over salted for some. We were not greeted warmly by the maitress d' - we asked for a booth seeing two were empty but had to talk her into it. Our server was pleasant but our order was mixed up with another table which caused delay and some confusion. And this was not a busy week day night. Very noisy even tho we were in a booth and the restaurant was half empty. Wont rush back.
The service was great. With so many beers our server seemed to be able to point our guests in the right direction. Mussels were perfect as usual and the flat breads were a hit for the table. Big fan of the Kennett Sq mushroom selection. This was a relaxed business meeting. Perfect location.
Server was very nice but was not well informed about the menu. He described a dish that cane out nothing like what ha described (and I would not have ordered) then I had to wait 15 minutes while my friends all ate until they brought out my replacement.
Excellent food and service! Will definitely return.
Mussels, frites, beer were fantastic. We sat outside, which was lovely and fun, so I cannot really comment on noise level inside, though it didn't seem loud the brief time I was in there.
The server went above and beyond to make our son's prom dinner exceptional. They even gave them a complimentary fancy mocktail to start their evening off! Thank you!
The Mussels are the best in Metro DC area, the service was excellent! The host was very accommodating, and the waitress was very attentive and fun! We had a wonderful time!
