Mussel Bar & Grille - Bethesda Ratings and Reviews
Best restaurant meal anywhere ever. Went at lunchtime. Beet salad was well constructed and super tasty. The mussels were perfectly cooked and delicious. Added fries for $1. Beef stroganoff was amazing. Not enough superlatives for experience. Go and enjoy a great lunch.
Went here for my boyfriend's birthday. I requested a booth per some recommendations and they were able to accommodate us. We didn't get the mussels because they aren't my boyfriends thing, though I've had them before and they are awesome. We had a salmon salad and a flatbread pizza, both were really good. If you want an eclectic beer selection- this is the place to go. My only disappointment was the service. We waited for our second drinks and to get the check.
So impressed with the service - awesome hospitality. Great place if you're looking for a specialty beer, they have something like 150 different varieties and the bartenders are really knowledgeable about them. This is a pricey place, just be aware. We really enjoyed it!
The Mussel bar is a favorite for us. Tonight the food was delicious as usual, and we appreciated the service although we met 3 servers. Apparently they were understaffed -We ended up dining in the bar which was a bit too bright. Seemed brighter that usual which diminishes the ambiance for us.
Overall, great food and service as usual which is wonderful to count on.
Had the same items I had the last time I was there. Not same quality. Is it because line cooks were doing the cooking, and their talented chef wasn't? I won't eat oversalted food. Had to send the French fries back. Replacement was a bit soggy. Disappointing.
Although what I'd seen online for the lunch menu was not available at the restaurant, I ordered the Avocado Endive Salad and it was AMAZING. I got salmon with it also, which was slightly overdone but nicely seasoned. Service was great, place was quiet enough for a conversation (Monday at noon), and even my parents were impressed. I think. LOL. I'd definitely go back!
This was my second dinning experience at The Mussle bar and grille. The mussels are fantastic and the portion is super size! The mushroom and bacon variety is delicious... I could drink the broth and it pairs well with the tasty bread or fries offered.
Although the portions are quite big, I do think it’s a bit over priced in general. the drinks/cocktails are meh (and cost $12/13), loads of beer — like 80+, so if you like to mix it up they got u covered.
Also, I ordered a cocktail towards the end of dinner but it never arrived at our table. Although I did pay for it... that was a bit disappointing.
Overall, great place to group up with a friend or two, catch up, eat/drink and relax. If you make a reservation, be sure to ask for a booth. The are high back and roomy so it gives you some privacy and a little reprieve from the noise level, which can be quite loud between 7-9p.
Food was delicious and service was great. Prices are a bit high (especially for beer/cocktails). We ended up splitting two appetizers and one pot of mussels, which was plenty of food and made the total pretty reasonable. Definitely recommend for a date night.
While I've said yes I'd recommend this restaurant, if I ever go back there I'm not ordering my appetizer and main course upfront: I've had it with restaurants that bring the main course while we're still eating starters! Could someone pls tell all restaurant managers in the DMV area that their staff must clear everyone's plates at the same time, wait at least 5 minutes few minutes so we can catch our breath BEFORE bringing the main course? And if someone is having mussels as a starter, well yes that does take a bit more time to eat so pls factor that in! I've lost count of the number of times main course plates have arrived while we were in the middle of starters and then plates had to be deposited unceremoniously in our laps, practically. Shameful for a supposedly sophisticated city.
Met up with my grown kids for an early Saturday brunch. The mussels were fantastic (try them Mediterranean style) and we enjoyed the 'build your own mimosas'. My husband raved about the mushroom truffle soup, and everyone found something they liked on the menu. Service was friendly and competent. Parking easy with a parking garage just around the corner.
I had an Open Table gift certificate and chose to use it here, among all the restaurants available.
Mark, my server, was just outstanding. He is the most accommodating and knowledgeable server I have encountered in so many years of dining out. The owner of this chain of restaurants seems to handpick all these wonderful people to work for him (except for the one in Lock 72 in Potomac).
The food never disappoint also. Wanted to get the lobster roll, since I was hungry for one. Like the toasted bread along with the condiments added to the lobster. Then, you get three kinds of aioli to go with the the French fries. What a nice touch. The salad was fresh and nicely seasoned. Had the chocolate truffles tart for dessert. My, is that a rich one. Can be addicting.
Always a pleasurable experience to dine here.
Nice outdoor seating in Bethesda but a bit noisy being on a main street. Food was excellent - we both had different salads. The chairs outdoor were a bit uncomfortable, but overall, the experience was great. It is a bit pricey for lunch, because of the wine, but otherwise, is moderate.
The mussels were good and they have many preparations that I have not seen before. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of the other ones. The Oysters, on the other hand, are average at best. The only thing I can say about the oysters are they are aren't bad...but don't order them. The burger & fries were good.
The best part of the experience was the service - effective and friendly without being even close to going overboard.
Great selection of mussel dishes and the food is very tasty. As far as service, I don't know if our waiter was having a bad day or if he generally doesn't like to be there on a Saturday serving other people while they are trying to have a good time, but he was terrible. Other than that, the food was delicious.
