Mussel Bar & Grille - Arlington Ratings and Reviews
Excellent lunch at Mussel Bar. Started with small order of Mediterranean mussels to split between 2. Excellent and very tasty.
Moved on to herb-quinoa salad with chicken which was also first rate.
Our server was very attentive and friendly and did a great job.
Great place. I'd recommend it for sure; not just for lunch but dinner too.
On a rare night out with my sister visiting from out of town, we decided to go to Mussel Bar for mussels. We arrived at 830, and were seated immediately. The waitress took our drink order and left us to look at the menu. When she came back to take our order, she informed us that there were no mussels. What, no mussels? I'm not sure why we made it all the way through the door, to the table, and had drinks ordered before someone told us that there were no mussels. Very disappointed!
Every time I go to the Mussel Bar - Arlington it's a great experience. I've been there for lunch, dinner, drinks (dates) and its met or exceeded expectations every time. Their food isn't cheap, but its well worth the price. Great selection of beer and wine. The service is very professional as well and nothing has stood out there. Would definitely recommend Mussel Bar.
I used to love this place but the price/quality ratio of the food was not good. My husband ordered the tuna entree and he finished it in 2 bites. He was still hungry. My Provencal mussels were not as tasty as I remembered them to be.
Service was average at best. Ice tea glass was empty the whole meal. We had to ask three times for bread. They used to bring it without asking.
Prices have gone up since opening but the quality hasn't.
Service was a little "brisk" but I am guessing that is b/c people waiting for tables (i.e. our appetizers arrived before our drinks). Noise level was ok when we arrived but gradually grew upwards. Food was great (we had the mussels of course) but next time I am trying the hanger steak.
Our first time there even thought we live close. First is the atmosphere- large, open, airy space with customers from their 20's to 60's (us) with a very low bro ratio especially after Happy Hour. The background music was rock from late 70's and 80's. We started with a bowl of Mediterranean mussels which were excellent(1/2 bowls available at bar only) -added the frites for $2 plus asked for bread for dipping. Luckily we got the mussels before ordering anything else because split by 2 it was almost a meal. Just got 2 small appetizers and dessert after. Next time we'll skip the mussels so we can try some of the entrees. Pretty extensive beer list with a lot of Belgium selections. If I remember the HH menu there were cheap cans of PBR and a few bucks off other beers and wines.
Overall very good - note that it was pretty packed on a cold Friday night and the bar was full.
We love this place, particularly on Tuesday nights, which is dollar oyster night. That and an order of the excellent sweet potato fries with sauces is great...plus if you get there before 7 you can have a half price glass of the terrific house rose. Our only problem was that their gift card processing system wasn't working, and I've never heard of this before. The service can also be spotty and it can be hard to get your server's attention, but Bob the bartender is great!
My friends and I went to mussel bar for New Year's Day Brunch. We made our decision to go to this restaurant after viewing their Arlington menu and deciding that we want bottomless food with the option for cheap drinks. According to their online menu, mimosas were buy one for $5 get each subsequent one for $2. However, when we got there, the prices were stated to be $4 per mimosa. This does become an issue if you want more than 2 mimosas, and planned for the advertised pricing. When we showed then their advertised price, the waiter said they couldn't honor that because we were in Virginia...Strange since this menu was for the Arlington restaurant.
Prices aside, out waiter didn't clear our plates once. We had to ask his manager several times instead. It took about 15 minutes of us sitting around without any food or drink in front of us to get out checks....Oh and we were the ONLY PARTY IN THE RESTAURANT. No one else was there and the waiter, Cody, was just chatting with the man at the butcher table.
If you go out to eat and need to request for your table to be bussed, order your drinks at the bar because the waiter is no where to be seen, and wait 15 minutes with a virtually empty table at the end of your meal with your waiter 5 feet away avoiding eye contact.....It was bad service.
Stopped in at Muscle Bar for an early dinner NYE and, as usual, the food was delicious. I talked my wife into having the chicken schnitzel. She's a foodie and she loved it. We ate at the bar because it was an early dinner and our bartender/waiter was awesome, as always. Muscle Bar is a fabulous addition to the area... and it's best restaurant.
The place has definitely gone a bit downhill.....at least as far as the mussels. There are skimpier portions than ever before. You have to ask (multiple times) for bread. You'd think that a mussels place would bring you bread to soak up your broth. There was one measly piece that came with the bowl of mussels. Also, we could barely understand our server, due to the language barrier. The place just isn't on its A game any longer. :(
Food and server were excellent, as usual. However - my party arrived in two parts and were seated separately for the same reservation. We finally found on another. Also, the bussers were trying to rush us rather than waiting for any sign that we were done. Finally, disappointed that parking validation is not clear - apparently parking at 5:50 pm means no validation as it starts at 6:00.
It's a great place for a great dinner. We never hesitate to go to Mussel Bar and Grill, especially because they always have great service. The servers there are super nice and very attentive. Their specialty is mussels and fries, which we systematically order each time we dine there. However, this time, we decided to order from their other list of entrées. We had lobster over potatoes, which also came with frisé salad (my favorite). Our second dish was grilled branzino (whole fish! yum!), which was cooked to perfection. As I mentioned earlier, what really made the experience outstanding at Mussel Bar and Grill, was the server who was very pleasant. We will definitely go back!
My wife and I eat out often. We frequent DC restaurants as well as N Virginia ones. Lately we have been disappointed in almost every restaurant in which we've eaten, many of which are favorites to many. Last minute, I went online and we went to Muscle Bar. It reminded us of why we eat out...great food, at a reasonable price served by people that smiled and were pleased we were spending money in their restaurant! Doesn't get much better than that!
Lobster special was super, and the chicken schnitzel ... the best since it was on the menu at Central. Loved the meal and every moment of the experience. Thanks Muscle Bar!
We love the $1.00 oyster night on Tuesday. While the service is a bit spotty and there seems to be a bread shortage, it is very lively. This time, the wonderful sweet potato fries were overcooked, but we managed to eat them all. And they have rose by the glass, which is a great plus!
Food, ambiance and drinks are always great. I got the spicy thai green curry mussels (always delicious) and my fiancé got the steak frites, which he loved. The service however was very poor. The waiter never checked on us and I had to ask twice for multiple things.
We were party of two and we both had the Burrata as starter. The taste was interesting and they forgot the Chicharrón until we were half way done. The Chicharrón was a little stale, not as crunchy. I have the Wild Mushrooms mussel, it was okay, a bit on the salty side. The Randall Lineback Veal Burger was much better. However, the fries for both dish failed. It was oily and lumpy that I had to send it back for a fresh batch.
