Mussel Bar & Grille - Arlington Ratings and Reviews
First trip to Mussel Bar and we were really pleased. Good service with a beer list that has something for everyone. Mussel sauce options were great and the actual mussels were large and good quality. We also did a flat bread which was really good. Good casual date night place or being a group of friends. Great option if you are fed up with crappy service at Rustico.
We were across the street at the Westin for the evening, so the location was ideal. We literally just walked across the street. We came in late but the restaurant was still pretty full and lively and stayed that way until we left. The layout of the floor, due to it being the corner side of a newer building in this part of Ballston, is a tad unusual which makes it interesting and fun, adn the acoustics and deco are great. The beer selection is pretty large, and the seafood was fresh and just what we were looking for. We ordered east coast oysters, blue crab dip and chilled shrimp and it was all delicious. This part of Arlington has undergone SUCH a renovation in the last decade, and it's worth the slight pain of trying to find parking on a Saturday night to make the effort to visit; this restaurant/bar is a nice stop.
We went for the oysterfest event, which was definitely worth the money! The oysters were being shucked at multiple stations around the restaurant and all of the stations were buffet style. We also got the mussels and truffle fries which were also delicious. We will definitely be back!
Not what it used to be. Understaffed and some staff not well trained. Friday evening where restaurant should en rocking and maybe only 2/3's full. What 15 mins for drinks to be served as only one bar tender. Food was good but expensive.
Recently we not tl RW's new restaurant, Siren, which was very good. RW needs to pay that attention to his established restaurants as well.
We've had dinner here many times. It was unusually slow this particular Saturday night, so it was quiet and we managed to snag a booth by the window. It's much louder when it's packed. I order one of the mussel dishes, which this place is known for and does an excellent job with, so no disappointment there. I also had a delicious beet salad and a very good Rose. Everyone enjoyed their dinner!
We've gone to this restaurant a few times, but the last time, it was so loud that it really hurt my ears! The noise wasn't "energetic" it was painful!
They had placed us near the bar right next to a very loud group - it was okay at first, but over time it was just too much. We will think twice on the time of day when we will return.
The drink menu online and the dinner menu don't match once you arrive. Specifically we wanted to try the bourbon drink call train wreck and it was not on the menu when we arrived. Also the chicken schnitzel seemed to be gone too. A bit disappointed since we looked ahead and were excited about a few items.
Weekend buffet is good option if not spectacular. The meats are the star of the show followed by skillet dishes and veggies. Pancakes and French Toast were cold; you are better off with the breakfast breads and muffins for carbs. Worth a visit if you are I. The neighborhood and like buffets. Probably not a "destination" on its own.
Our waiter was great. Joanna, the hostess, was wonderful, seating us in the bar area to help us take advantage of happy hour. The manager on duty seemed to feel it was appropriate to dress her down in front of our table for something she was already handling.
The mussels Provençal were amazing and so were the white peach and guava sorbet.
Awesome food. Great beer list. Our server was all to eager to rush us out of there when the restaurant was still full. She really lacked attention to our table. Had to ask her for a refill for my club soda. Then she disappeared for 30 minutes. It was a shame because the food was on point.
Good: mussels, location. Bad: 1) waiter seemed to be having a very bad day, and at every interaction w/ our table & seemed distracted & not that interested in his job; 2) manager seemed overworked & rushed, checked in w/ our table, and unable to help much; 3) coffee can be a good flavor in some dished, but their coffee roasted beet salad was not an effective mix of flavors.
