Service was very good. The food choices were ok. Some definitely better than others. Ceviche didn’t seem to have much flavor.
Excellent Arlington restaurant. Everyone enjoyed our lunch. My Thai spicy mussels could have been spicier. Service could have been a little more diligent (water glasses not refilled). It's a go-to spot I love to introduce to others.
Arrived at the restaurant, was seated but no be came by to our table for 15 mins. Wasn’t a busy night so didn’t understand the delay so we left
We decided to try this restaurant based on the online brunch menu, but when we arrived, approximately half of the dishes listed online were not actually available, resulting in limited options for our party. The food we had was good and the staff did a good job, but based on the number of menu items, we will not return.
Seems like Mussel bar has gone downhill. The past two times we have been food was just ok, service slow, and bartender couldn’t make a cocktail (martini dry).
Great food, excellent and friendly service, didn't feel rushed.
Food was fabulous. I had a salmon filet that was cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed the mussels. There is something very wrong with the bar service. Our poor waitress tried to get the bartender to pour a Stella for us for about 5 minutes. (The restaurant was empty) The waitress was finally given the beer. I watched the bartender pour it from a regular glass into a Stella glass? Our Waitress was honest enough to say this isn’t Stella ...not sure that was the plan of the bartender. This is the second time we have seen very slow serving of drinks at this restaurant.
First time and very impressed with offerings. We had mussels Provençal and the Thai inspired ones. Both were very well prepared. Baguette crispy...it’s the real deal.
Recommend the grilled octopus as appetizer, oysters were good.
Service was amazing and very helpful when trying to navigate the 157 beers they offer.
Will definitely be back
(Outside dining available for the brave ones)
Food was fabulous but it’s noisy there.
Great food - our server was excellent. It’s always a positive experience going and you can’t beat the mussel’s and frites.
Enjoyable evening with colleagues. We frequent the restaurant often
I made reservations for lunch. We were able to have free parking in the building which was convenient. I ordered the lunch special which was a lobster roll, fries and frisee salad plus a glass of wine. My friends ordered the 1/2 size order of mussels which were fresh and plenty for lunch. There was bread for the table.
As usual, the food was excellent! Unfortunately, the service was simply bad. Drinks and food spilled on us. The highlight was when the wait staff made physical contact between the patron (me) and the absolutely scorching hot cast iron skillet in which the mussels are served. That was a fun moment...
Apparently a relatively new waitress who had no training, no knowledge of the menu, and no basic server skills. It really detracted from the great food. Hopefully, restaurant management will improve their staff training so that we can go back to enjoying the combination of great food and great service that we are used to at the Arlington Mussel Bar & Grille.
Good food as usual but overall service was uncharacteristically different compared to previous, very good dining experiences here.
Fantastic meal, perfectly cooked scallops and swordfish plus the desert was to die for!
The food at Mussel Bar and Grille was wonderful. And the restaurant is attractive, and not so noisy that one cannot talk. Our only criticism was with our server, who never checked on our table, and who seemed not to know that he should ask us if we wanted coffee, tea or dessert. We had to prompt him to do this!
Wait staff was challenged but did their best under the circumstances. Great food, sat outside for the first time because the inside gets noisy. All in all a very good place to dine.
Food and service were outstanding!
Highly recommend based on beer selection and menu variety. Service was excellent and the mussels were very tasty.
Really creative menu. Friendly service. Mixed drinks are really good. I would go there again.
We love this restaurant! Fantastic food and great service, always. We love to sit right next to the kitchen so that we can see all the dishes come out. We went as a family of three, with a teen and an adolescent. We shared a crab cake main dish and the mussels with bacon and mushrooms. We were licking every plate. Then we really indulged with three desserts, which was a little too much. But all of it was table-pounding delicious!
Our server was absolutely amazing and not overbearing. We had the calamari, crab dip and flat bread for appetizers and ordered the mussels, crab cakes and burgers for dinner; everything was absolutely amazing and the service was top notch! Will definitely be back!
Three of us ate at Mussel Bar & Grille for a business lunch. We sat at a booth by the window, and had no issues with noise. Service was very good without hovering.
I'd recommend the one in Bethesda instead - better ambiance and faster service.
The calamari were too heavily breaded but the scallops and mussels were excellent.
The mussels were the low point of the meal--while it was a great portion size, they came out fractionally overcooked. My friend's tuna, the calimari, and the crab dip were excellent, though. Service was good, though we had to flag our server down a couple of times for small requests. Would love to have the mussels when properly cooked.
We were there (two couples) on a recent Friday evening because of the “June crab cake special.” The mussels we shared as an appetizer were delicious, but the crab cakes were overlooked and not as advertised; they were supposed to be lump crabmeat, but there was a significant amount of backfin or filler. We moved outside because it was deafeningly loud inside; conversation was impossible without raised voices. Our server, Taylor, was excellent.
Mussels bar is great place to dine when craving mussels or oysters, which are amazing there. Truffle fries are very good too.
Last time I was in, my experience was less than stellar, which was totally abnormal as I come in a few times a month. Glad to see My experience returned to what I have come to expect from The Mussel Bar...excellence:)
Wow, great mussels, great beer menu, best bronzino in town. Sitting outside is a bit car-honky and service is a bit spotty here and there, but all in all, we'll definitely be coming back.
Great food and service!
The food was delicious and the service was great. We had white wine mussels, scallops, bronzino, linguine with clams, butter cake and peanut butter bar. The food was well prepared and flavorful. The butter cake was outstanding. We will be back.
Highly recommend the mussels, as the name implies.
Outstanding food! Although we sat at the bar, we had great service!
The incredibly slow service was shocking for a lunch crowd. Food was ok but we had to rush through it in order to be out within an hour.
I'd classify Mussel Bar and Grille as mediocre as far as mussels are concerned. The mussels are served in a deep frying pan so there's a lot of surface area and the mussels cool quickly. Other restaurants serve mussels in a pot so that the broth is keeping the deeper mussels warm. The mussel size was reasonable, portion size was reasonable (and could easily be shared) but the broth lacked any distinct flavor. The frites came to the table lukewarm, not hot out of the fryer. I sent my frites back and asked for a warmer batch. I'm comparing Mussel Bar to St Arnolds in DC. I think St Arnolds has more flavorful mussels.
Horrible. This place was completely unprepared for a Mother’s Day crowd. Food was grossly delayed, and a steady stream of folks kept stopping by to untruthfully tell us that our food was “coming right up.” This either is or is not the case, and after the third time hearing this lie, we left. I spoke with two managers, who had no excuses for the failures of the kitchen or why it was necessary for staff to keep lying to us.
We had a wonderful brunch at Mussel Bar & Grille. The highlights where the frites and the Bloody Mary's.
We had a fantastic meal Saturday night (early evening) this place is a jewel - we have been there about 15 times and have never had a bad or mediocre meal. I grew up eating mussels and everyone knows, if you get a "bad"one it just ruins the whole meal. That has NEVER happened here, and that is impressive - if you eat a lot of steamed mussels you know what I am talking about. Our waitress, Yoan, was fantastic. Don't miss an opportunity to visit - not just for the mussels, I had scallops which were delicious and my spousal unit had the salmon - OUTSTANDING.
