Lunch with clients. Food was good and service was excellent.
first time and will repeat. Good choices, reasonable service, very good food. Maybe best sea scallops I've ever had, mussels also quite good...
Just a first rate stop in Arlington!!! The Mediterranean mussels will make you day!!
Food was outstanding! Great selection of beer and wine, service was impeccable two days in a row. Reservations are recommended as tables fill up quickly
They were slacking on the oysters Rockefeller and fried wasters toward the end.
Food was very good. Music was way too loud. Had trouble with getting the check right, but fixed in the end.
The recently revised menu provides some great new options. The Apple & Pear Salad, new on the menu, was very tasty and beautifully presented. The new Chicken Fricasse entrée on the menu was outstanding. Very moist chicken with lots of flavor.
A nice meal to catch up with friends - low key, great service and good food
We are regular patrons of this restaurant and usually it is very good. We like the Tuesday Happy Hour with half price drinks and $1 oysters. This time, the oysters weren't very good (with a sort of yellow liquid around them), and the sweet potato fries were not up to par -- tired and soggy. The young man who took us to our table told us that drinks were half price but only at the bar, and he wasn't sure about the oysters. The very nice waitress confirmed that until 7 pm all drinks in the bar area (including the tables) are half price and the oysters were definitely a dollar. (We've been coming here form years, and we knew that.) Aside from the fact that this place is unbelievably noisy, we usually love it. Not so much this time.
Well first open table messed up my reservation, the couldn't find so that was s big embarrassing. Two the server did not hear that both guess wantedca salad, then there was a bug a dead fly in my wine. I was told that they would comp the salads, but in fact paid for the entire meal a total of $88.
That's where the messed up, no salad comp the a bug in my wine.
The best mussels
I almost never write reviews, but since you asked...if you are a mussel bar, you should know how to cook and serve mussels. They tasted off, and were overcooked. Charging extra for frites was an unwelcome surprise given that the mussels were $28. When the mussels came we had no plates or discard bowl. It took 2 requests to get them. The waiter was friendly but the service was uncoordinated.
Ambiance is sports bar-ish, with a dash of cheesecake factory. There are plenty of places in the area that are better options for this kind of food.
A pet peeve not limited to this place—a full page of bottled beers on the menu, but no drafts listed. Bring the list of draft beers out with the other menus so I don’t have to ask for it. Why is this so common?
Usually good, but service was terrible this time and order messed up.
Meal was great—learned that our three year old loves mussels in white wine sauce! Sword fish also great as was charcuterie. Service was fabulous—very welcoming to our whole family and great with our 3 y/o daughter. Nice margaritas, wine and beer selection. Only criticisms: tables near side door were very loud with regular banging of door by waitstaff, could use some sound-dampening as very loud with hard surfaces and bathrooms are dark and dreary. Could be refreshed.
I went with 2 friends for lunch. Surprised it wasn’t more crowded. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent.
Came for lunch on a Saturday. Was seated immediately and the food and service was awesome. Austin our server was great.
Great Food and Service
Despite being half full, our waiter and the bar seemed slammed. We learned to order our next drink when one was delivered, knowing that it was at least a 15 minute turnaround. Very good oysters, the kitchen delivered. Our waiter was just gone a lot
Service and Food Superlative! Mussels Provencal...YUMMY! Lot of fun, great people watching too!
Anniversary date night dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant is concrete and glass with wood tables so nothing to absorb any sound. There was a large group at the bar which spilled out and made for a very loud evening. The staff was empathetic and moved us to another table when one became available but this resturant is not one for a date. The calimari appetizer was nice and the mussels were excellent. The staff was friendly and fairly attentive.
So-so. Extremely slow service considering we arrived at 5pm on Labor Day. No greeter at the host stand, stood with others for about 5-7 minutes before anyone took notice that there were customers waiting. Table service was slow. Waiter recommendations were ok. I had the scallops, which were tasty but few. the asparagus in the dish was diced up tough bits. My stepson's steak frites were fair but he enjoyed his Caesar salad. I chose because of ease of getting to from National Airport, where i was picking up my stepson an proximity to a metro stop so he could get to his hotel in DC. Might try again.
Poor waiter was one of two and he could barely keep up. Not good to be under staffed.
Went during happy hour and had a great early dinner
I’ve been to Myssel bar several time before and while the s revive was very good the food wasn’t the best I’ve had. Mussels slightly overdone and definitely on the smaller side. Pork chop dish was highly recommended by our waiter but it truly was over done and as were the other fish dishes.
We’re always very happy dining at the Mussel Bar, a local favorite of ours in Arlington. The mussels are always excellent but don’t neglect the pizzas, crab dip, oysters and other great options. The beer list is comprehensive.
Unsure what has happened to this place lately. We had three separate waiters come up to our table and say that they were taking care of us that evening, before we even got a glass of water. Once they finally brought our drinks, my G&T had a dried up old lime stuck to the side. We were there on a Sunday night, and the menu seems to have changed, and not for the better. We used to go there regularly, but we probably won't be back anytime soon.
Great service!! Reception and the wait staff was outstanding. Food / salads were sufficient. Crab dip was unremarkable/ somewhat bland.
Overall an enjoyable evening!
Staying nearby so we decided to try Mussel’s. Food and service was great. Only negative for us was the noise level.
As always, the food at Mussel Bar is excellent, as are the drinks; the service is attentive, too. I think this was the first time I had their "pizza" (really more of a baked cheese tart); it was the Kennett Square Mushroom and it was delicious. The portions are rightsized for dinner (don't expect to need a takeaway box) and presented very attractively. I had the peanut butter bar for dessert- very dense, with an amazing sweet/salt balance. The look of the place is sparse and industrial, and it can be noisy- we lucked out with a corner booth and could actually hold a conversation, but at other tables the sound levels can be a problem.
Very good beer selection. Authentic Belgian style food with exception of desserts.
Amazing food and great service!! :) Can’t wait to return!:)
Friendly service, appealing menu. Great bar and wine list. Only negative was kitchen’s tendency to oversalt.
Great experience overall with good food , nice drinks , helpful and friendly servers.
This was my go to favorite. Unfortunately the menu is now boring. There is only the veal burger option for burger eaters. The beer list is sad if an IPA is what you are looking for. Service is now slower for 6:30 on a Friday. 1 year ago this place could do no wrong.
New waiter. Never brought bread. Never brought frites with mussels.
Service was OK but the food was really unremarkable. Had steak frits. The steak was cooked correctly but had little flavor and the sauce was bland. My son had salmon which also was lacking in flavor. All in all it was disappointing
We ordered 3 mussle dishes (Thai, classic & Mediterranean). Fun place, nice service.
We have eaten at Mussel Bar & Grille many times before. As usual, the food and drink selection was spot-on. The service this time, unlike previous visits, was terrible. The waiter was intermittently attentive (usually when his manager said something) and extremely slow in delivering drinks. Too bad because the food was excellent.
service was horrible. Wanted to split check between couples (which we asked for prior to ordering) when the meal was over, was handed the bill and asked to divide it up ourselves....crazy.
Also saw a guest at another table walk up to the bar and grab their own drink which was waiting for delivery.
