The sun was shining and the deck was almost empty. Quiet and peaceful dinner.
The restaurant was quiet and warm and cozy and festive with Christmas decorations. We came there to have dinner and watch the fireworks and ended up watching fireworks right from the window where we ate which was perfect. The cream Brulé was out of this world 😋
We really enjoyed the music and the food. The staff was very accomodating.
Our first experience was a good one, after museum hours on Friday evening. High-quality menu, professional service, and live music made for a nice date. All Muse needs now is patrons! We had the place almost all to ourselves. If word gets out, this could be a great downtown restaurant.
Need a steak on the menu
We enjoyed a visit to the museum and decided to dine in the Muse while there. The food was outstanding and the lunch time atmosphere on a Saturday was great for bringing school age kids to. Very comfortable chairs as well!
I got the goat cheese pasta which had goat cheese in the sauce and a whole scoop of goat cheese in top. That's way too much goat cheese! Plus the flavor was bland. Not worth the money I spent on it
The food was creative and delicious. We were there on a Sunday and it was fairly empty, but the waitress was not very attentive and we had to wait 10 minutes or more just to get the menu. The food came quickly and as I said it was excellent. Maybe our waitress was just having an off day.
There's only one vegetarian option, and it's a cold, limp hummus sandwich. They didn't even toast the bread. Very disappointing. My appetizer of flatbread with apricot jam was delicious, however.
Great food! Server was friendly and knowledgeable and very nice welcoming atmosphere
The food at Muse used to be excellent, but our last visit was quite disappointing. The menu has lost much of its creativity. It's just not worth the price. We like spicy food but the creole seafood linguine was gloppy and any flavor it might have had was overwhelmed by the heat. Our other menu choices were fine but not special. Surprisingly, there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant, although under the circumstances he did a good job.
Consistently, a solid option in Anchorage for dining out. Service is among the very best! Always a pleasure to dine here especially when you precede or follow it with a visit to the Anchorage Museum. Would definitely dine here again and suggest to others to do likewise.
The food was excellent! I order for pick up all the time and thought it would be a great place to grab lunch over the weekend. As for the dine in service? It could use some improvement. The restaurant was pretty open having only 4 tables taken and maybe 2-3 servers. None of the tables were sat at the same time so time management for order taking and drink refills needs to be worked on. Never the less both servers who waited on our table were kind and open to given advise and answered questions professionally and truthfully. I will be returning, soon.
Worst first experience. Will not be going back. Bad service, unfriendly staff.
Thanks for a great evening!
All nice staff and thank you for the birthday desert!
Our Friday evening dining experience was great- except we were disappointed with our main dishes. House salad and the shrimp appetizer were great. Wine choices were very good. The chicken pot pie main dish "with puff pastry" had more spices (thyme?) in it than we liked, and the puff pastry was just a few little bitty discs of pastry decorating the top. The smoked chicken broccoli pasta with a goat cheese sauce didn't have broccoli in it and instead of the shaved parmesan cheese topping, there was a dollop of more goat cheese. That was a lot of goat cheese. I was looking forward to the broccoli. :-( Wait staff were friendly and helpful. We probably won't go back, just because there's a great steakhouse close by. Too bad Muse wasn't more impressive. It has such potential!
Server was behind when taking our order. Food was cool by the time it arrived at table. Still it was good tasting and we would go back.
Service was a little slow at the beginning due to being short on waiters but our service was still good. Food was great. Our waiter even took the time to take our picture :)
It was good. Service was slow but there was only one server. Food was average to above average. I'd be open to going back but only after trying other places.
Good place to take out-of-towners for lunch and good place to refuel after several hours of touring the museum. The ambiance is suitable for a museum cafe and the food is very good, well prepared and well presented. Like most restaurants in Anchorage, serving soup luke warm is considered appropriate. We brought it to the server's attention and she was gracious and brought fresh cups of soup steaming hot. Understand Muse has been sold. I hope the new owners realize that the competitive advantage for Muse is its elegance and not try to compete with Midnight Sun cafe at its level.
Had a great mother's day dinner. For appetizers we had different salads and a seafood chowder; all were very nice prepared. For dinner we had Shrimp & Grits, beef short ribs and prime rib. More than enough food (to go boxes were required) and, unfortunately, we did not have room for desert. The wine list was nice and reasonably priced. Would definitely go back again!
My sons brought me here for Mother's Day. The menu was very limited. The $16 Caprese salad was only about three bites. The service was awful. This is the second time I've been to Muse and had terrible service, despite the fact there always seem to be managers on the floor. After sitting and getting water (although on guest at our table didn't get any water), I had to ask someone to take our order. They were out of two items on the menu. But, there was also confusion between the kitchen and the wait staff and we kept being told one thing then another. There are so many better options downtown for good food for that price. I can't imagine I'll be giving them another shot.
Great food! Everything tasted wonderful. Perfect mothers day brunch. Even got a flower at the end of the meal!
We loved the ambiance, and the fact that it was quiet enough to hold a decent conversation, but lively enough to enjoy the spirit of the place. Great food for all ages.
This was my first time here, and it was a pleasant experience. The staff is very friendly, & helpful, everyone seems genuinely glad that you decided to eat there tonight. The spicy tomato soup starter with walnut/ basil butter &a homemade wheat bread was delicious. This was followed by the crispy fried shrimp ( also spicy) on a bed of pickled cabbage & cucumber. Also delicious.for the entree I decided on the beef tenderloin special with onion rings, and a Demi glacé sauce. This was tasty, but the meat was medium well, & a little chewy. Overall the meal was a success, & the prices are very reasonable. I'll definitely give it another chance on my next visit.
Muse always delivers. Whether I just need a glass of wine before taking the kids on another round of the discovery center, lunch, dinner and dessert are consistently fantastic.
Great venue. Wonderful service and outstanding presentation of food.
The food was good and the personnel was kind and efficient.i
Great Easter brunch. Food was very good. People who work at the Muse were very attentive. Will try dinner there.
We had the place to ourselves! Good food, and our server, Devon, was fantastic! She helped us with other things we had planned on our trip.
Leom was great as a waiter, loved the food, good time!
Lovely experience with some friends this past Sunday. Ambience is beautiful, staff is super friendly and attentive. Better yet, they're beautiful too! In all seriousness, the food was perfect and I would definitely recommend the yam wedge appetizer. Our server, Brittany, was attentive and friendly, without being overbearing. She had great recommendations and we most definitely will come back!
First visit to Muse. Valentine's date. Restaurant located inside the Anchorage Museum. Both of us had the seafood chowder and grilled halibut. Both were excellent. Would have been nice to have some warm bread and butter with the soup. I had a red wine while my partner had a glass of moscato. Nice wine selection. Finished off sharing a lava cake with ice cream. Way too much icing. Restaurant has no view and little privacy. A little on the loud side. Great service. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Food was good, but expensive. Wine list extensive, but no descriptions. Beer list disappointing. Service extremely rushed even though most tables were empty. Main course came out before we were done with appetizer. Pricey, but felt kind of cheap. Likely won't go again even though food was very good (...but very rich and salty!!)
Even though I had made reservations via Open Table, when I got to the Muse they said they had no record of reservations for me. Fortunately, there was plenty of room to be seated.
Two of the meals were very awesome. The pot pie has a strange twist on it. Not bad but there was a lack of filling. It was really loud. Although we had reservations it took a long time before our waiter came to our table. Long periods of time with very few water refills. It was a Friday night & quite busy. But it seemed as though other tables were getting much more attention.
We took two out of town guests there and they just loved it. Loved the food. the service was just right . They loved that it was connected to the museum that they thought was great. We started at the museum at 11:00am. Then took a break with an Open Table reservations at 12:30. Then went back to finish seeing the museum after lunch. Great museum. Great lunch break. Great day.
Muse should have more beer tastings. The service was great the beers were awesome. Had a great time.
