This pub has a fun atmosphere even for Sunday Champagne Brunch. Always a fantastic selection and the prices are amazing. Have been there many times and am never disappointed. Gotta have the Irish Coffee too.
Pat was great! He kept us entertained all night
The Shepherd's Pie was excellent. The Fish and Chips was very crispy and light. It is definitely a loud pub atmosphere. Our served, Molly, was wonderful and really made it a great experience!
We love fish and chips and were not disappointed. We were well served and enjoyed the vibe.
Live music every day make the place fun with great ambiance. The food is tasty and authentic, and the service is always friendly.
Solid, but not great food and service. Great ambiance though
Good food and music after 8:30. Enjoyed that it was Alexandria dining week.
Fresh food, cooked perfect and fast service.
Murphy’s can always be counted on for delicious food, a welcoming space and fabulous value. Never disappoints.
Erin is a great server and the food is always delicious.
We will be back for the music!!!
Murphy's waitresses were spot on and did a great job for our 16 person table. The food was great and the atmosphere was fun.
Place was way too busy.
Food was overcooked and way to greasy. My fish and chips were dripping with grease. The fish was way to cooked and brown
Easy relaxed atmosphere and good service!
Love the Friendly, Fun, feel and authentic ambiance of this Restaurant Pub. The Brunch is Excellent with a wide selection sooo good. Wonderful Crab Cake Benedict.
Have only ever been to the downstairs bar for drinks, but the restaurant week menu caught my eye. They had an amazing deal for a dinner for 2 ($35 total) which was surprising due to the entree options (12oz filet, duck confit, etc.). I was served some of the best salmon I've had and the portion size for apps, entrees and dessert were all perfect. Staff is also very friendly and it's a laid back but intimate environment. Will definitely dine here again.
Ordinarily everything is wonderful at Murphy's Sunday brunch, but yesterday the usual manager was not working and it showed. I knew right away from having to wait 15 minutes for my reserved table to less than prompt service to 2 out of 3 meals arriving incomplete.
Great atmosphere, delicious food, and we always have wonderful service.
Music was great and staff do accommodating. Thanks Kenny
Always a delightful meal with good service. Went on Thanksgiving and Christmas and the set menu was delicious and extremely reasonable.
While they focus on hamburgers, I had the fried chicken sandwich, and it was _really_ tasty. My wife fondly remembers the pickles. The french fries were _fantastic_, being fried in beef tallow. We were there on a Saturday, so they were _very_ busy; there was a significant wait. Our waiter was very friendly.
As for the value of the restaurant, I can't say, because my father-in-law paid. I doubt he'll pay for your lunch too.
Good service and fantastic value. The brunch specials are delicious!
Sydney was an awesome server and took great care of us again. I love this place, and am a regular. Just good food, friendly staff and great Irish music!
Our server was very attentive. Food was very good. Once the music starts at 9pm, it becomes difficult to hold a conversation.
This is our fourth time at Murphy’s. The food - Shepherd’s Pie and Tuna bites - was excellent! We enjoyed sitting by the fire and the service was very good.
It is a bit noisy, but a good atmosphere.
Live music upstairs and down.
A casual place to enjoy, good food and drink...
Our party of 9 had after Thanksgiving dinner here. We'll be back next year!
Great brunch options and unbelievable great prices
Excellent service and friendly staff and clientele. Way better than most irish pub food I was used too. Five of us had four apps , dinners, and several rounds of drinks. The bill per person w tip was 40.00. Great value great place.
I have been to Murphys many times and find the food and value for the cost to be unbelievable in Old Town. Sunday was great but the service was poor. We had to ask our server if we could please order because we were starving. We watched him chat with other waiters before we were able to flag him down. Dirty dishes were left on the table and we had to flag him down to pay our check as well. This is the first bad experience we have had here and I will still strongly encourage you to eat and drink here.
Food was solid but the atmosphere was off. Staff are Eastern European, no slight on them, so the atmosphere was more Black Sea than Irish Sea. Neither Trad or Irish/Brit Rock but Alternative music. Overall, I’ve seen far worse but have also seen far better in the same price point
Always a great brunch; good prices, fantastic service and wonderful atmosphere.
Awesome place to enjoy a Patriots game. Foods great. Staff is wonderful ! Atmosphere can’t be beat!
Awesome place! Great Irish spirits and food. Plus you can bring your dog
Picked wrong night as noisy mob by chance, usuals quieter and always good value
I love Murphy's Grand Irish Pub. It's been a favorite place for me for 20+ years. The food is delicious, the Sunday brunch is the best bargain for great food in town. Live music in the evenings. The manager and wait staff take excellent care of all your needs. Five stars all around. Always enjoy bringing friends for the first time. Never disappointed.
I ordered a crab cake. Instead of being a patty it was a large lump cooked on the outdid and raw on the inside. I sent it back telling the waitress to tell the chef to just smash it on the grill so it would be cooked. it came back black on the top and bottom and raw on the index. The desert which they comped Jamison cake was also very overcooked on the sides and bottom. The place was not clean, the seats were hard, it definitely need some upkeep. The entertainer was pretty good.
We went for the restaurant week special which was an amazing value. $35 for two diners, appetizers, and dessert. The music started just as we finished dinner at 9 and was a nice addition. I appreciate that there were vegetarian options on the standing menu which allowed our entire party to find something delicious.
We went to Murphy’s for the first time for Alexandria’s restaurant week and it was excellent! I was worried from seeing pictures that it might be a little ratchet, but it’s not really. My boyfriend and I both had filet mignon and I have to say, it was probably the best steak I’ve had in a long time. We were very surprised with how excellent the food was! It’s definitely an energetic place, there was a bachelorette party hanging out at the bar (we sat next the the bar, tight squeeze because it was packed, although we didn’t mind) and a live singer came on as we were leaving. I’ve heard it’s a fun bar at night, so next time we’ll have to go later in the night!
I have been in Alexandria for 2 weeks and have eaten there 6 times. Wednesday Wing nights are great and Thursday Steak night is awesome. Perfectly seasoned and prepared. Will definitely return when I come back.
