Ordinarily everything is wonderful at Murphy's Sunday brunch, but yesterday the usual manager was not working and it showed. I knew right away from having to wait 15 minutes for my reserved table to less than prompt service to 2 out of 3 meals arriving incomplete.
Great atmosphere, delicious food, and we always have wonderful service.
Music was great and staff do accommodating. Thanks Kenny
Always a delightful meal with good service. Went on Thanksgiving and Christmas and the set menu was delicious and extremely reasonable.
Good service and fantastic value. The brunch specials are delicious!
Sydney was an awesome server and took great care of us again. I love this place, and am a regular. Just good food, friendly staff and great Irish music!
Our server was very attentive. Food was very good. Once the music starts at 9pm, it becomes difficult to hold a conversation.
This is our fourth time at Murphy’s. The food - Shepherd’s Pie and Tuna bites - was excellent! We enjoyed sitting by the fire and the service was very good.
It is a bit noisy, but a good atmosphere.
Live music upstairs and down.
A casual place to enjoy, good food and drink...
Our party of 9 had after Thanksgiving dinner here. We'll be back next year!
Great brunch options and unbelievable great prices
Excellent service and friendly staff and clientele. Way better than most irish pub food I was used too. Five of us had four apps , dinners, and several rounds of drinks. The bill per person w tip was 40.00. Great value great place.
I have been to Murphys many times and find the food and value for the cost to be unbelievable in Old Town. Sunday was great but the service was poor. We had to ask our server if we could please order because we were starving. We watched him chat with other waiters before we were able to flag him down. Dirty dishes were left on the table and we had to flag him down to pay our check as well. This is the first bad experience we have had here and I will still strongly encourage you to eat and drink here.
Food was solid but the atmosphere was off. Staff are Eastern European, no slight on them, so the atmosphere was more Black Sea than Irish Sea. Neither Trad or Irish/Brit Rock but Alternative music. Overall, I’ve seen far worse but have also seen far better in the same price point
Always a great brunch; good prices, fantastic service and wonderful atmosphere.
Awesome place to enjoy a Patriots game. Foods great. Staff is wonderful ! Atmosphere can’t be beat!
Awesome place! Great Irish spirits and food. Plus you can bring your dog
Picked wrong night as noisy mob by chance, usuals quieter and always good value
I love Murphy's Grand Irish Pub. It's been a favorite place for me for 20+ years. The food is delicious, the Sunday brunch is the best bargain for great food in town. Live music in the evenings. The manager and wait staff take excellent care of all your needs. Five stars all around. Always enjoy bringing friends for the first time. Never disappointed.
I ordered a crab cake. Instead of being a patty it was a large lump cooked on the outdid and raw on the inside. I sent it back telling the waitress to tell the chef to just smash it on the grill so it would be cooked. it came back black on the top and bottom and raw on the index. The desert which they comped Jamison cake was also very overcooked on the sides and bottom. The place was not clean, the seats were hard, it definitely need some upkeep. The entertainer was pretty good.
We went for the restaurant week special which was an amazing value. $35 for two diners, appetizers, and dessert. The music started just as we finished dinner at 9 and was a nice addition. I appreciate that there were vegetarian options on the standing menu which allowed our entire party to find something delicious.
We went to Murphy’s for the first time for Alexandria’s restaurant week and it was excellent! I was worried from seeing pictures that it might be a little ratchet, but it’s not really. My boyfriend and I both had filet mignon and I have to say, it was probably the best steak I’ve had in a long time. We were very surprised with how excellent the food was! It’s definitely an energetic place, there was a bachelorette party hanging out at the bar (we sat next the the bar, tight squeeze because it was packed, although we didn’t mind) and a live singer came on as we were leaving. I’ve heard it’s a fun bar at night, so next time we’ll have to go later in the night!
I have been in Alexandria for 2 weeks and have eaten there 6 times. Wednesday Wing nights are great and Thursday Steak night is awesome. Perfectly seasoned and prepared. Will definitely return when I come back.
Great food, good service and a warm welcome for families with little ones!
We ate there about 2 years ago and enjoyed the place and the food. They must have a different chef because the sheperds pie and irish stew were terrible this time .tthe stew was very watery and two people in my party could not eat the Sheperds pie.we will not be returning again.
Good value for money and friendly helpful staff
Great server and fun live music!
Our group of 4 had the Irish egg rolls, onion rings, shepherd’s pie, and pulled pork sandwich. All of the food was very good; we especially liked the egg rolls and onion rings. My one complaint is that we did not see much of our waiter after he took our order. We had asked for refills on water when we ordered our entrees, and 20 minutes later I had to flag him down to ask again for the refills. Someone else brought our food, and the waiter never checked to see if everything was OK. He also never offered to refill our water glasses a second time, though all four were empty again partway through dinner.
We have been visiting Murphy's Grand Irish Pub for over 20 years! The staff and entertainment are wonderful and the whole environment is like family! The Happy Hour is awesome for both drinks and appetizers, and although it is a busy place, there are tables for two tucked away.
Live Music sounds good in theory but not when every song is slow and depressing. 😬. I think Patsy Cline was the most upbeat song she sang.
Our waiter, Sheik, on Sunday during the World Cup was terrific! Thanks for a great morning/afternoon!
Murphy's is the BEST place for Sunday brunch -- we're repeat diners (brunchers). Good food VERY reasonable cost ($9.95-10.95--really?) Champagne refills are reasonable. Staff is great. "Everybody knows your name."
This day I went later than normal so the level of background conversation was higher - but it was a great to see people really enjoying themselves. Great food and service and the waitress remembered me from previous visits. This will be a regular for me.
Great friendly service, inexpensive delicious eggs Benedict. Brunch there every Sunday
Great atmosphere and friendly, professional staff!
Had a FANTASTIC Father's Day Lunch with Family! The staff was extremely accommodating. Since the main dining room on the bottom level was crowded and noisy, the staff seated us up top on the 2nd level, backside near the fireplace. Placing us there was definitely ideal because of the four children in our 12 top party, giving them a little more running room without the predicament of bumping into any staff. Though Sunday is limited to the Brunch Menu, the Manager allowed us to enjoy the Full Menu instead. The drinks and appetizers were delivered promptly. Loved the Spinach and Artichoke Dip served in a bread bowl with tortilla chips to pair and the Smoked Salmon served with Irish Soda Bread was so tasty and yet so light, it definitely did not spoil my appetite for my entree (Shepard's Pie). All entrees of my party came out altogether and had no problem whatsoever with our dishes. Everyone enjoy the entire experience. Our server, Erin, did an amazing job. She gave us ample information of the types of meals as well as the drinks they serve. Thr price and value of the restaurant/meals was by far the most unexpected, so very reasonable and the service was the best. We will definitely come back again soon!
A great part of Ireland located in Alexandria. Beautiful surroundings
This place had outstanding service and food at a good value and it's located on King Street within Old Town so it's a good location to do some window shopping afterward; it's a bit noisy though so you need to consider that for your purposes.
We had a good.time. Our waiter was good and the atmosphere seemed authentic. Both of us enjoyed our meals. Early evening on a Sunday probably isn't the best time to assess the atmosphere of an Irish pub.
This was my first time there. I was made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent and the value unbeatable.
