We had a very nice dinner. The wine by the glass was a great treat -- as there were a variety of varietals and price levels. The food was very good. Had the brisket. Both of us loved it! The patio is a very nice place for dinner, as it seemed a lot quieter than the dining room where there were several large parties the night we were there. They have heaters on the patio, if it's a little cool. Not sure about comfort level mid-summer. Our waiter was a disappointment. Not at all engaging or pleasant. Seemed very busy. All-in-all, we have a lovely time.
One of our favorite dinner spots. Olivia waited on us. We have had the pleasure before. She is a consummate server and unobtrusive yet attentive. That’s a difficult balance ! The meatloaf was outstanding and. The toll house Pie delicious. !
Sister, brother in law, son, daughter in law and niece, who busted relocated from LA to Atlanta!
The last time I visited this restaurant (Murphy ‘s) was in 1995 . Beautiful then and absolutely beautiful now. Very professional customer service and the food delicious.
Although, the last several times I visited (1993-1995) I would have their “White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake.” Bow tie pasta. Neither one is on the menu.
I/ We was very impressed with the new look of Murphy restaurant and we highly recommend this restaurant.
Great except parking
Great lunch for my husband’s birthday. We enjoyed the service and the ambiance. We had a nice quiet table in the back of the restaurant. We haven’t been to Murphy’s in a while and it was just as good, even better than we remembered.
Always a great place to take friends that don't get out much. The menu is varying enough to where there is something for every palate. And the prices won't break the bank. Easy to get to from midtown events and Piedmont Park.
We had to wait @ 20 minutes with a reservation and the entrance area was very crowded with no real waiting area. Our server was Inez, very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. We had the calamari and the muscles for appetizers which were both fabulous. We had to ask for bread for dunking in the muscle broth. I had the range chicken, which was a nice sized breast that was very juicy and tasty. The mashed potatoes and asparagus served with the chicken were both delicious and flavorful. My spouse had the hanger steak which he said was perfect. A good night out in Virginia Highlands.
Do not order the french toast. It did not taste like a normal french toast. The ‘house fries’ were not cooked through properly and there was no flavor. There was more flavor in the onions and peppers that came with the potatoes. The Egg Benedict was very good. Their Jalapeño hollandaise sauce was not very different from the original. This place is okay. I was told later that this place has amazing desserts. Ill have to try them next time.
Whether regular menu items or specials, the food is consistent: scrumptious coupled with an outstanding presentation!
Healthy food and good selection of seafood.appetizers are great and Very nice wine selection
A quiet Monday evening Birthday dinner. Hadn’t been to Murphy’s in over 4 years - it didn’t disappoint. I tried a newer trout preparation, broiled and served on a bed a farro, mushrooms and diced asparagus with a garnish of peppered green pea purée. My husband opted for their classic brisket with mashed potatoes, carrots & green beens - we each heartily cleaned our plates. Attentive, helpful service without hovering or making us feel rushed. This one should still be on your list!
Our server Steph was very engaging and a pleasure!!!
One of our favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Food was very good and service was good. Server did not know prices of specials and initially quoted wrong prices but corrected before orders were placed. I think restaurants should always give the prices of specials when announcing them. All the menu items have prices why not the specials. Takes alot of anxiety out of ordering the specials although I think many restaurants have specials so they can charge specially high prices on them and customers never ask. I have learned to always ask. That way I do not get sticker shock when the bill comes.
We dined here early on a Saturday evening. Two of us arrive dearly, so we sipped a glass of wine at the wine bar. The beverage manager recommended a great Verdejo. We were seated on the heated patio, which had a nice ambiance. I enjoyed the special of the night, a halibut risotto. My family also gave thumbs up to the sausage meatloaf, seared tuna salad, and Murphy burger. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the bonzo cake or toll house pie.
Great service but bland food. Had the trout dish.
We go to Murphy’s very often, in fact when we have out of town guests we take them there.
I asked for the scallops featured but asked if I could have it over mashed potatoes. I’ve recently be released from the hospital and am sensitive to garlic. The waiter said he’d have to ask the chef because I’m making so many changes.
Ok, decided to join my husband and ordered their chicken with mashed potatoes. Perhaps we had an off night, as the chicken was very fatty. We’ve had it often and normally love it. Just not what we’re accustomed to.
I had been meaning to try Murphy's for a long time, and it did not disappoint. I really liked the outdoor seating, but the inside space was also cool. They have a great wine selection, and the food menu was unique but not overly complicated. Most importantly, everything we ordered was delicious, and the service was great too!
Food was good, service was OK, our table felt REALLY cramped. Good place for maybe party of 4, but won't go back for anything larger.
Great food and service.
Sunday brunch was good but everything is a la cart which will push your bill #UP
My wife wasn't pleased with how the kitchen prepared her egg whites. After sending them back twice and still not pleased, she told the waitress to just take it off the bill. Waitress indicated that she couldn't do it because it was sent back twice. Wife indicated it wasn't her fault that the kitchen couldn't get it right; manager removed eggs from bill.
Dinner was exceptionally good, the trout and three times seared hangar with the piquepoul rose. Server Stephanie was excellent, enthusiastic, knowledgeable of the menu and wine list and attentive at the right times. Patio seating was the best table for two among what was offered. We will be back soon.
Service was a little bit slow, but food very good.
This was our first time here and we very much enjoyed it. The food was great and our service was awesome. Our favorite part of the meal was the dessert trio. Yummy! Definitely give yourself time to find parking, however. It took us a while to find a spot, as we went on a Saturday night. We’ll definitely be back! :)
The food was amazing, as always! My husband raves about the brisket. I had the salmon & it was delicious. I love this place because they have gluten free options, including the flourless mocha cake. I’ve never been disappointed by this restaurant.
Lot of children and not very romantic
Had a great time!
So close. I was bummed with the coq a vin. I’ve had it many a times, and it was not good. The drinks were a bit on the light side. Everything else was fantastic: everyone else’s food, dessert, service, etc. I paid for it, so the subpar drinks and my meal made the bill hard to swallow.
I was there with 2 friend to celebrate my birthday. They took great care of us. The entire experience was enjoyable and memorable. Couldn't believe we had been there for 3 hours! The food was fabulous! Sorry it has been so long since I was last there. Will be back sooner this time!
The food was just so-so. The salmon was dry and flavorless. For the price we expected much more. The staff was very friendly and the ambience was lovely.
Great time, Great food... Happy I made it , I have trying to come out for several years now and it did not disappoint. The shrimp in grits where great , that tomato jam made it. Th eservice was great . I was feeling the drinks as well.
Kayla, our server, was excellent. We had the salmon, which was cooked perfectly, and also the brisket (amazing!). This was our second visit- both times were exceptional.
Excellent food in a quiet setting. Server was attentive. The fish special was cooked perfectly. The marinara sauce that came with the spinach meatloaf was excellent. We came because of a friends recommendation and were not disappointed
Waitress hardly came by and food came out after an hour we were seated. Chicken came out under-cooked around the bones. Was seated in the covered outdoor area but was too chilly.
Once the loud table seated next to us left, we had a lovely dinner on the patio. The noise level was not indicative of Murphy's, just the loud dining companions next to us.
Food was great but it took a long time to come out
My Irish guy says the corned beef and colcannon are legit, best he's ever had. That keeps us coming back to spend St. Patrick's Day at Murphy's. Add a great table on the patio and live Irish music to the mix and you've got a winner!
Murphy's, as usual, was great in most respects. My family and I have been going there since Tom Murphy's previous location (nearby) at least 25 years ago. It is an Atlanta gem and we have celebrated many special occasions and non-special occasions there. My only complaint about this visit is that after we were seated at a requested (window) table (reserved well in advance through Open Table), they opened large glass doors to the outside (just inches from us). This brought in uncomfortably cool outside air. When I asked that the doors be closed again, they refused to do so. They did offer to move us to a dark place farther in, but my reservation had specified window seats if available and I did not want to move to a dark corner. This was my only complaint and I still don't understand why the doors (which were closed when we were seated) could not remain closed and keep me and my guest (and perhaps others) more comfortable. The service was attentive, as usual, and the food fairly good. I made the mistake of ordering from the special St. Patrick's Day menu and had overly salty corned beef. My guest had the Guinness beef from the regular menu and that is what I will order next time. The tortilla soup was delicious, as was the special bread pudding for dessert.
Day before St Patrick is not the day to go here. Usually much better.
Great service and food. The $1 giant cookies by the door are always a favorite when we are leaving.
