Food was fresh and good but lack flavor and lack any seasoning whatsoever. I never expected overpowering amounts of seasoning, by any means, but I did expect a pinch of salt and pepper during the cooking process. My server was absolutely outstanding. The sangria I selected was uneventful on the palate. Of course location is fun and cute on a Sunday but that doesn't quite influence my review enough here to refrain from remembering the flavor impact overall was mediocre. I'd go back but mainly if a group or another individual wanted to try it. I'd be willing to do that. But I am not necessarily going full on out of my way to return. Again, cute spot, food was ok just not memorable.

We have visited Murphy's many times in the past 10 years but had not come back for a couple of years since the pandemic started, so we were excited for this date night. Bar experience was nice, good service, had a mocktail and sparkling water. $20. Then we were seated in the outdoor area, where we waited for 20 minutes as the waitress kept walking by us with no acknowledgement of us, not even once. At least 3 other groups came in and were seated and were waited on immediately and served. The area was not crowded as it was 5pm, so it wasn't because they were busy. Finally we left as it was clear we were going to have a poor service experience. So we went across the street to La Tavola and had a wonderful meal and excellent service. We will not be back to Murphy's.

Amazing night! Our waitress was wonderful, the scallop special was delicious and the atmosphere made our date night perfect!! We will definitely be getting the babysitter again to make this a regular destination!

The cinnamon roll was delicious. The grits were just okay. The restaurant wasn't very clean. We had brunch on Mother's day and the floors weren't clean. The staff was very friendly. My last visit a few years ago was better than this one.

With out-of-town guests, everyone at the table was delighted with their meal and with the accommodations of splitting dishes, answering questions about the menu, keeping the atmosphere light and fun. As the in-towner, Murphy's is often a "go to" when I must come up with a choice for a group I don't know well.

Service and food were excellent! Hospitality from the host and hostess at check-in to our server, to the house manager was bar none. We had a party of four and every dish (including dessert) was perfectly prepared. Not sure how we’ve missed this gem in Virginia Highlands all these years, but now that we’ve discovered it, we will definitely return.

Murphy’s is always a good choice for a drink and Apps or for dinner. We had a great time with friends on Saturday night. It was their first time and they raved about the food and the service. Peter took care of us and he was attentive, knowledgeable, and very friendly. We had a great evening!

I always love dinner at Murphy's and tonight was no exception. Food is consistently excellent. Tonight was a dinner with friends, one from out of town, and I had no worry whether it would be good. It was great. We all had seafood--the trout and halibut dishes were delicious. The risotto with the halibut was especially good with its gulf shrimp addition. Two of us had the crab cakes, which make a great entrée if you are not that hungry.

We love to go to Murph’s s when visiting the Emory area. No matter what I order it is delicious. The beet salad is outstanding. The trout is delicious paired with the vegetables. The Salmon is always fresh. The sides are all great as I have tried them all. What I like the most is the portion size is larger than the average upscale restaurant. The wine tasting that was going on looked fun. I feel like I can eat a delicious healthy meal there as they choose high quality food and ingredients.

We all enjoyed our meals - I LOVED the Roasted Rake special. Definitely a WOW. Friends sampled 3 different sandwiches and they were all terrific. Been coming to Murphy’s for years and the restaurant experience is always wonderful.

It’s seems like restaurants don’t view the “special request” section when I make a reservation. There wasn’t an option to choose outdoor seating so I put it in the special request section. When I get there the host tells me my table is ready and I asked if it was outside and referred to my reservation. She looked as if she had no idea what I was talking about and told me it would be a wait for outside seating. What’s the point in putting something in the box if it’s not read? The food was good and nice ambiance, but making reservations with specific requests is not going to happen. Calling them may be better.

We had a wonderful experience at brunch today! Our server, Nachel, was amazing. Her kindness and friendliness was extremely touching. She gave us excellent recommendations and really made it special for us. I hope I get to come back and enjoy Murphy's again under her care!
