This is a lovely little restaurant just outside of the northern parts of the theater district. This branch has only been open for 4 months. Their other two branches are elsewhere in Manhattan, and this branch is not yet on their website. That accounted for the small number of people there. Plus, it was a Tuesday night, and the restaurant had just opened for the evening, but we had a 7pm show. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more attentive. The food is very good. Be sure to make your spice preferences known and they will adjust accordingly. Their “medium” is spicier than a lot of other places, but we enjoyed it very much. We had the Lasuni Goni, and the sauce was excellent. The cauliflower could have been a little crisper. Another appetizer we had was the Aloo Papei Chat, which my husband very much enjoyed. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which also had a very good sauce. My husband had the Lamb Saagwala, which he loved. For dessert, my husband had a pistachio ice cream with chocolate syrup and chopped pistachios on top. Yum! The Mango Lassis were also delicious. And the prices are VERY reasonable! On the way out, I noticed a sign that said that lunch is 50% off the menu prices, if you eat there, not for delivery. We would go back, if we were in that area again.

Went here with my daughter when she was visiting. We both love Indian food and she spent 6 weeks in Bangalore several years ago. This place is great. We ordered papas and boti kebab to split as an app and then got prawn saag, lamb vindaloo, dal and puri. The service was friendly and efficient. We asked the waiter to make the spice level to our taste as we are not afraid of heat. Especially the vindaloo. Everything came out perfect. The saag sauce was nice and thick and not so creamy as other recipes and was of a medium spice (for us) while the vindaloo delivered just the right amount of sweating and stinging 😄. The dal was the best I’ve had in a while. We will definitely be back. I just returned from a trip to the UK and didn’t have food this authentic.

My colleagues and I had dinner here shortly after it opened. The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive and so nice. It is small, friendly and makes you feel so welcome. I will plan to eat there each time I am in New York. I am writing this when all of NYC is locked down. My heart and hope goes out to the staff of this lovely spot. Stay safe!! Hope to visit again in the not too distant future.

Me and my husband had a delicious dinner before the theater at this new Indian Restaurant. It is exceptionally clean, kind and efficient waitstaff but mist importantly delicious and fresh food. We have tried many Indian places in the City and this place is our number one. Highly recommended

I ate at Mughlai with a group of 6 friends. We live in three different boroughs, so it was great to find an affordable and tasty place in midtown that could seat 7 on a Friday night. The service was great, we order a bunch of dishes to share and based on what we ordered, the server recommended we also try another dish that ended up being everyone’s favorite of the night (I’m blanking on the name of it, but it was chicken with coconut and just a little bit of spice.)

Wonderful small informal place. Portions are quite large. Spice levels are medium so if you prefer spicy you can ask.

Really enjoyed our meal here. I’ve eaten a ton of Indian food originally being from the UK, and this was fantastic. Food very well cooked, tasty and fresh. Very friendly accommodating nice staff and owner. A must try for Indian cuisine fans in the NYC area.
