Overall great food. Cocktails were great as were the croquettes and the heritage banana. Venison was okay, and expensive for just a piece of meat. Dessert was also amazing!
Food was unique and delicious. Service was top notch. Drinks were great! Definitely recommend family style.
Hip, down to earth interior, inventive dishes with local ingredients served creatively and without long waiting time. Tables are socially distanced and waitstaff very helpful. Would highly recommend getting the family style option if you have 4 people as you get to try so many dishes! Will be back soon!
One word = interesante! Not sure what to make of it. Best way I can define it is a vegetarian restaurant that serves chicken and fish. Perhaps it’s local dining. Everything was uniquely prepared but nothing was particularly appetizing. An acquired taste.
After seated, took 10-15 minutes to get served. We had to flag the hostess to ask for a server. I guess they were busy.
Spent three hours having diner and it could not have been a more pleasant experience. The food was delicious and perfect to split and share. The service was wonderful & the staff is so lovely. Will definitely be on my must visit list every time I’m on Oahu!
Everything here is always absolutely outstanding!
We were celebrating a birthday and the staff were so kind. We had the banana pancakes and the corn beef hash. Both plates were beyond delicious! We also had the Miso Gingerbread Butterscotch Rice Pudding; which is now my favorite dessert! Amazing service and the cocktails were made by a professional bartender. We highly recommend Mud Hen Water.
Great food, very cute space, will definitely be back
Delicious island-based food. Setting is relaxed, not stuffy. Perfect dinner for our last night in Hawaii. Mahalo!
When I want to entertain friends and family from the Mainland, I bring them here to Mud Hen Water. Supporting local and cooking local gives my guest a wonderful experience in locally grown products.
This is fresh as fresh can be.
Amanzingly fresh and creative cuisine. I will definitely return.
Amazing. What a wonderful and incredible dining experience.
Another spectacular meal at MHW!
We went for brunch! It was a lovely meal! Perfect for Sunday brunch!
Unique and delicious food that is trendy and an acknowledgement of Hawaiian culture.
For a couple who have 4 month old twins and a 5 year old, date nights are few and far in between these days. We really enjoyed dining at Mahina and sons and had high expectations for MHW. The food was great! Local/comfort food taken to the next level! I especially loved the mountain apple martini- which was such a treat because I haven’t had mountain apples in years! My husband and I can’t stop talking about our experience and want to come back soon!
All the vegetarian dishes were amazing! Everything was unique and flavorful with my favorite dish being the buttered 'ulu. Definitely the best meal I had while visiting Hawaii.
Excellent food and value priced. Very attentive service.
It wasn’t my favorite though it was highly way a coworker. I’m also 28 weeks pregnant, so my taste buds might just be off.
good Hawaiian food in a very well designed location
Maybe too expensive for the average of the food and the wines
Lovely outdoor seating
We enjoyed everything we had at Mud Hen Water:
Amuse Bouche: shrimp chip with pickled papaya
Hummus & Naan - So Good
Lau Lau - tasty!
Sausage & Clams - delicious, broth was slurpable
Smoke Meat Carbonara - very very satisfying
Chocolate-Kiawae Bean Brownie - Genius! The black sesame gelato was unexpected and the mac nut brittle took it over the top.
The menu items are very unique and flavorful. Eating here is a gastronomic experience. (It was our 52nd wedding anniversary.)
Would go again
Ambiance was cute and the food was good! We went for brunch and got the Pork Sisig and Carbonara!
Hands down the best food we have had on our week long trip!
Well thought and creative menu offerings
Innovative, delicious food and drink. Excellent service. Felt very safe eating outside. Street noise a little loud, but that comes with the territory.
We celebrated my mom’s birthday here and since covid she hasn’t been out much. She felt very comfortable. The openness was very nice. Also, by brother is a vegetarian and their were lots of options for him to enjoy as well. Overall great evening!
Excellent food! Interesting cocktails too.
Very good food, especially if you are new to Hawaiian cuisine
Amazing menus and service was prompt and kind. Will definitely suggest. It’s out of the hustle of Waikiki and for that we were grateful.
Went for our anniversary with our daughter and loved the whole vibe. I used to go to Town, and loved it too. Glad this place is still there to enjoy Ed Kenney’s great take on local Hawaiian food.
Waiters and bartenders were on point, and the food was amazing.
The neighborhood kind of reminded me of East Burnside in Portland, off the beaten path from downtown. I’m this case, away from the throngs of people in Waikiki.
Make it there if you haven’t been yet.
such an amazing meal! Love all the fresh and local flavors. And super interesting combinations (banana/chopped egg/peanuts/green onions - who knew?!). Lovely and memorable meal.
Good cocktails and inventive Hawaiian fusion dishes
The food is always consistently good and the staff has always been incredibly friendly. Weekly staple !
The menu is much smaller than in 2019, our last visit. But favorites (preserved akule w crackers), beet poke and especially the poncho clams with lemongrass sausage, were just as remembered. One big improvement: coordination between kitchen and servers. Enjoyed ourselves very much on our anniversary. Thanks for the champagne! Mahalo all around
Everything was incredibly delicious and unique. Highly recommend the family style tasting menu for $35/pp. The service was outstanding as well
My favorite restaurant in Honolulu period. Amazing, modern takes on Hawaiian dishes with fantastic flavor profiles and reasonable prices. Honestly the best.
