The menu fits all ages. We had 2 college students who were not local with us, and one kept saying he was "definitely coming back.' The food was delicious, the portions were amazing, and the prices were reasonable.

Food took a long time to arrive and was cold. Very bland and under seasoned. Coke was undrinkable...they tried three times...the balance was off....still got charged for it. The only bright spot was the kale and Brussels sprout salad. Will not return.

Mount Vernon has been there since the mid-50's. It is a traditional southern dining experience. I had the prime rib and my wife had the trout. Both were very good. Opted for salad with their classic celery dressing and finished with their specialty Amaretto Cream pie. Not flashy or updated, but consistently good.

This was a special dinner my wife, daughter and I had for Valentines Day. They put us in what I would call the kids section, because our daughter is young. This helped because we could relax a little knowing we wouldn't get the eyeball from others! The food was amazingly cooked and prepared, my only complaint was the timing. It took a long time to get our plates out, and we ordered from a special menu with only 5-8 items on it. Other than that it was exceptional. Do not leave until you've had the amaretto pie!!
