Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner
Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.
Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, open-faced sandwiches and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.
The chicken was raw, waiter was not friendly and it was my dads birthday, very disappointed. The chicken had zero flavor.
Understaffed- Dirty vacated tables all around us. Waiter helpful but frazzled. Took long to get food and had to get up to get my check because it felt like the staff forgot about us. Salad looked like it came out of a bag. Chicken bland. Pie crust old and pie filling tasted like it came out of a can. Ambiance too dark and cold in the room. Best part was being with my daughter, the Earl Grey tea and biscuits with jam.
We were really looking forward to eating at Mrs. Knotts Chicken shack. Unfortunately not as good as our group remembered. Way too much butter on mashed potatoes and biscuits. Or may-be we just have better eating habits now!
Very good, service was amazing but prices were a little high but overall love the place, environment and will go again when I am back in town.
The fried chicken is the best thing on the menu. The potpie was not as good as the fried chicken.
I have always wanted to try this restaurant but somehow it never worked out. We finally did and it totally lives up to it's reputation. Big portions great food. Will definitely go again.
We enjoyed our meal and drinks. It was a nice, homey atmosphere with decent food that hit the spot after a long day at the park.
Food, service, ambiance was outstanding. The biscuits is my favorite part!!!
Had reservations and still waiting for an hour.. restaurant was so loud we could not even visit with others at table. Way way to loud! And I am young!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Don’t miss out and come eat here you will not regret it!
My server was amazing! Great experience! I had never been so I was very happy.
Great service and delicious chicken lunch. The boysenberry pie was the best
We have come here for many years and the food has gotten progressively worse. The service was fantastic but the Chicken dinner was not the same. Mrs Knotts would be sad.
Great food great service !!! They made my husbands birthday very special ..loved loved loved our server ! It felt like your mom made you food from the heart !!!
My spouse and I hadn't been to Knott's Berry farm, since our last visit to LA several years ago. We really enjoyed our meal and as what happened with our last visit we had to take our pie back to our hotel to eat later. The chicken was great, the sides were delicious and the mini buns were really good.
Absolutely the best fried chicken dinner, chicken noodle soup, and even biscuits I've ever had. Along with phenomenal service and one wonderful waitress. The boysenberry beer is easily one of the best beers I've had to date as well. And the pie... is there anything else to say other than delicious? I'll definitely come back here again one day when I'm back in Calofornia!
Food was excellent and so much. Everything tasted so good especially the biscuits! Our waitress was so friendly and attentive!
A charming, rustic atmosphere. Superior food!! Lots of it! Plenty for leftovers or sharing. Taste of everything was excellent! I had the chicken and dumplings. Bisquits are the best! Boysenberry jam and pie -- can't be beat!
In keeping with the western theme the hardwood floors are part of the theme. They make exceptional accoustics. A family nearby had loud children. It looked like they were leaving when we arrived (with a hard-of-hearing) senior. The family lingered a bit oo long with a meltdown 2 year old. That was the only set back to a fantastic dining spot.
We loved the chicken noddle soup it was the best any of us have ever had. The chicken and salad were also very good. The gravy was very bad, inedible . The biscuits were not very good no favor. Service was great had a nice waitress. I would eat there again just not the gravy.
The food and the portions were amazing! Had a really nice first visit to this restaurant.
Mrs. Knott’s chicken dinner restaurant holds many good memories from our past. My husband worked on the stage coach back in the 60s, and our family visited Knotts Berry Farm quite frequently. Visiting the restaurant was fun. We remember the rhubarb bowl was much smaller in the past. The chicken, corn, cabbage, mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious as we remember them. The biscuits of course were wonderful.
the chicken dinner was excellent as usual. But the chicken and dumplings as good as they were were just too salty
We went to the restaurant because our 7 yr old granddaughter was sooo excited to have your "mashed potatoes smothered in gravy". We ordered her a separate side of them and she took a giant bite with wide eyes just to swallow and tear up. I asked what was wrong and she said "they don't taste good." I took a bite and she was right. The potatoes were cold, the gravy tasteless.
My husband had the chicken dinner and said the fried chicken was also bland with cold potatoes. I got the chicken and dumplings. Very little chicken, especially considering that the fried chicken dinner was huge. It had 2 large, dry dumplings and maybe half of a chicken breast worth of chicken in it.
Overall, it was just disappointing. My husband said he thought it was for people who don't cook themselves. The service was great, the restaurant was nice, just didn't care for the food. We won't be back.
Great food and value. Service a little slow (young staff; they will get better with experience. Gentleman at station cutting the ham, prime rib, etc. was excellent and helped serve me portions of potatoes, chicken, etc. I was here last in 1965 and I’m glad I was able to return. Good memories and blessings. Thank you.
We attended the Mother's day brunch and it was wonderful. The food was delicious, ambience was nice, and the customer service was excellent!
Have not been in over 5 years! We live in Arizona an it is our favorite chicken dinner place the boysenberry pie is delicious bought a whole pie from the bakery to bring home! Excellent food!
The Mother's Day brunch buffet was exceptional! Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic! Worth every penny.
When I signed up for this I thought it was in the Chicken House. At no time did it state that we would be walking through Knott’s Berry Farm. The food was ok, the desserts were inedible but the staff was friendly. For the price that was paid, I would’ve taken my family elsewhere.
Great buffet for Mothers Day. I would highly recommend the Knotts buffet for special occasions.
Overpriced for the variety and lack of food out for the Mother’s day buffet brunch!
Had to wait 10-15 minutes every time for the chicken which is what mrs. Knotts chicken restaurant is known for!
Price of this mother’s day brunch very disappointing per person as well as charging kids as young as 2 who do not even eat a plate of food.
Very disappointed this year and will not be returning or recommend this holiday brunch buffet again!
My first Mother’s Day at Knotts. The 4 hostess that were outside to greet us were so nice and courteous, handed me a flower and my son and I were escorted around the stations then to our table.
The ambiance in the restaurant was not noisy it was nice, cozy and relaxing, I like how families with children were seated in a separate part of the restaurant It made for nice conversation with my son and for the price of the Brunch I was very appreciative that was taken into consideration.
We waited a few minutes for our waitress her name was Shannon who was a ray of sunshine. She was so attentive and answered our questions. The other waiter made sure our glass were never empty! I loved how Snoopy and Charlie Brown came through and took photos in the restaurant that was the highlight of the day!
The boysenberry mimosa omg are divine! The Food, I didn’t know where to start! I wanted to start at the chocolate fountain but I ventured onto the bbq boysenberry ribs and meatballs and other items. The enchiladas were a little spicy for my liking my son loved the tamales! The desserts and chocolate fountain were wonderful! I recommend this Brunch, it was my first time, and the fact that you were able to book reservations online was perfect! Thank you Knotts for a Grand Mother’s Day Feast!!
Knotts chicken buffet brunch is a delicious event to attend. The chicken and sides are amazing! They also have a great carving station as well as omelettes made to order, and many many more entrees and desserts.
I definitely recommend!
We have been going to the Mother's Day brunch for 20 plus years. We enjoy the brunch and it is a family tradition. It used to be reasonable and crowded, now it is much more expensive and the crowd is sparse. Bring back the biscuits!
Good Mother’s Day brunch. There seemed to be fewer offerings this brunch compared to previous brunches. Overall a good brunch option at a reasonable price.
My family and I visited during the Mother's Day brunch and the food and service was great!
NOISY!! drunk people at table next to us made it unbearable. service was slow! had to wait 15 minutes for straws.. food was mostly cold or luke warm. dessert area looked like everything had been man-handled, kids or inconsiderate grown ups.. service only picked up as we were ready to leave. never going back!
If you don't mind the high prices and just medium quality food this is a nice places for Mothers Day Brunch. It;s not over the top for a brunch but ok. The prices have gone up quiet a bit from 2018 for adults , not the Seniors so much. We have been doing this for a long time for Mother's Day , but will not be returning next year. Sorry Knotts.
I was very impressed with the buffet for Mother's day. Location was perfect setup. No long lines to get your food. The only item missing that I would have liked to have was their world famous buttermilk biscuits. Even though the price was not cheap I definitely feel with the type of food and not running out of options was worth the price. It was only about $10 more than El Torito, but options were so much more and they offered a senior price that was about $20 off the adult price.
I think we found a new place to enjoy a holiday brunch
Food was wonderful. A bit of a wait before the it was served.
The hostess was exceptionally rude. We arrived prior to our reservation time and asked if we can be seated earlier. They said yes but didn't explain that we would be getting a text when our table was ready and was left waiting past our originally scheduled reservation. When we went up, the hostess was very rude about the situation. The food wasn't all that great. It was fine but not as good as expected. The only good thing was that our server was really great and sweet. Probably will not be going back.
