Decent sushi dinner in a nightclub setting with a live band and great ambience.
The food wasn’t bad, but it was not great. The noise level was loud and it was difficult to carry on a conversation without shouting. The vibe was overly trendy which distracted from the food. It might be a better experience to order to go. The atmosphere was overwhelming.
First time there and highly recommend. We went there for LA week and the menu and food was amazing. The service was great and sushi was fresh.
Design of the place is confusing, way too many clashing motifs and ideas. The food was decent, service was good. Went there on a Tuesday night and they had live music...which is bad. Really wish they warn customers they will have a band/live singers and give you an option to move away from the singer. A few tables actually stopped eating and requested to be moved during their meal because the music was so loud and annoying.
Excellent band and music, great for groups. Very modern interior. Fusion style of Japanese cuisine.
I have been here several times and usually have a perfect experience. This time, however, the service was pretty bad - incredibly slow. And they messed up one of our dishes (they didn't full fry the fried rice so it came out soggy and soaked in uncooked oil). Everyone ate it anyway.
But usually this spot is much better. I will be coming again and hope that my last visit was just an unlucky day!
I was very impressed by the decor, the staff and the presentation of the food. They were different and the vibe was very cool. A lot of things and different areas to have your meal at. The set up of the place is just insane and the fish tanks?? Top notch. Oh and to note another thing that people probably look over is the music they play. I was like taken aback by the more "hip" songs they played which made me want to recommend it to more of my friends. Theres nothing better than hearing good music being played in a restaurant, and a super nice restaurant at that. Oh and they also can do events like parties in certain areas. There was a college event there and it was pretty cool to have them celebrate there. It definitely made it more lively. There was a mishap with one of our orders but the manager or the owner i think, she was very accommodating and friendly, I appreciated her help to fix the situation and the server me and my friend had. They handled that so well, the best way i have ever seen any other place handle an error to be honest. Great job, great staff Mrs. Fish. Now, if they had a bigger sushi menu i'd be dropping to my knees in praise. Still worth it. Still would recommend.
There were 8 of us celebrating friends birthdays. We all opted for the dineLA menu, which was a great value for the amount of food. The drinks, food and ambience were fantastic. The service was a bit slow and the music was way too loud. Overall great night.
This place is very pleasing to the senses and great for a date or a group of friends. Food choices were great and no sticker shock. I will dine here again.
Celebrated our daughter’s 21 at Birthday. From the cocktails to the food and the service was a wonderful experience. Was happy we choose Mrs Fish to celebrate her birthday.
Nice vibe. Great music. Amazing food. Great drinks! Live band came out around 9 and it was an amazing addition to the vibe without overpowering your conversations.
Had an enjoyable experience. Our waiter, Brian was very good. After dinner we went to their whiskey lounge and the bartender, Lawrence was very friendly had a great experience. We plan on returning
I had been to Mrs. Fish on several occasions for drinks, more specifically their excellent Japanese Whiskey selection.
This place has ambiance and then some. I love the amazing art adorning the walls and the massive overhead fish aquarium. Even the vintage Harley tucked into the corner of the whiskey bar is gawkworthy. I have seen (and smelled) the food on my previous visits and have been wanting to find a time to have dinner there.
So, for my birthday I wanted to go and try the food as well. I was a bit worried because I was with some very discerning foodies. Needless to say, everyone loved everything about our meal. From the chili edamame, to the serrano peppers. The sushi to the miso black cod. Even their green tea ice-cream was unique and delicious.
Everyone was so impressed that we decided to come back later this month for another celebratory dinner.
Also on Friday and Saturday, they have fantastic live music.
Can't wait to come back.
Very nice place for a relaxing dining experience. Love the ambiance. The restaurant is chic and modern. Extremely friendly wait staff. And the food was fantastic. I will definitely be back!
I was really excited to try them out but miserably failed all my expectations. EXCEPT FOR THE ATMOSPHERE and the decoration. The food was MEHH. Uni Pasta was mediocre. Sashimis are bleak. I won't go back here anymore unless it's happy hour for drinks. but for good sushi don't waste your time and money here.
Great art and an amazing fish tank!
Interesting menu, with lots of choices both small and large plates, good service (quick correction of a drinks error) and fun music by a live dj. Especially enjoyed sushi rolls, chicken meatballs and fried rice
Nice place. More about the scene than truly phenomenal sushi.
Restaurant is incredibly beautiful. We loved the food and service was great too.
This place is amazing .
The design is unbelievable and they also had a life band on Saturday that was very good.
I was not lass happy about the food it felt like its missing a taste.
over all i am deferentially coming back
Waitress “Monica’s” customer service 5/5
Food quality 5/5. Food portion with corresponding price 3/5
Love that place offers live music and DJ.
I will return for sure!
Really a great restaurant and amazing food. Great presentation and easy for sharing and trying many menu items. Very affordable on top of it all. Great service from the staff and manager. Definitely recommend and will be going back ourselves.
First time here and we're definitely going back, everything was perfect, service, food, drinks, music.
The restaurant is a feast for the eyes, with beautiful old stair railings, and art pieces, everywhere. The lighting is great - dark, with table lamps to see your food; and since the restaurant is on multiple levels, there's something interesting to see everywhere you look. The food was OUTSTANDING. We had the tasting menu plus a couple of apps. Anything FISH based was out of this world tasty. The one meat dish I had (skewer trio) was ho hum. Dessert was not a strong suit. Overall I would recommend the food for sure.
Now the service...……………………… Really poor. The server was sloppy, inattentive, and never once even looked either of us in the eye. He never apologized when his trainee made a huge mistake of completely clearing our table, he never made sure we had the basics like water (my wife got up and poured water for us twice), and he forgot the special occasion and actually brought us a stupid little single scoop of ice cream with a candle in it AFTER we had already had dessert and were paying. Food runners also terrible. They just plonk the plate in front of you without a care, NEVER take your dirty plates away, never serve water, and always just said "enjoy" and walked away. Even though the service was horrible, the visit was still worth it due to ambiance and food.
The food and drinks were delicious! Our waiter Nate was the worst part of our experience at Mrs.Fish he initially greeted us and seemed over whelmed trying to juggle his tables for the night . He never came around to check on us,
I wish they were open for a little bit longer they close early..
Great food and great service, good vibes!
Quite good. High quality and unique preparations.
Wonderful experience! Love the ceiling fish tank, amazing food, drink, and ambiance! Will definitely be going back!
Was nice but the big plate was sadly almost cold when it arrived ! Better eat fish than meat
We ordered from the Prix-Fix menu. The food was very good, and the service likewise. Our table was upstairs with a good view overall. The hostess told us that the table needed to be free within one and a half hours to make room for the live band. That would have been fine save for the slow service which started with the cocktails arriving about 20 minutes after the order was placed. So began the back-up. I admit I should have suggested they place us elsewhere, or perhaps the restaurant should have identified that area as ineligible on a band night.
The ambiance is hip, contemporary and well-designed for space. Numerous levels and areas for multiple bars and such keep it airy and interesting. Its certainly a lovely spot to take guests and friends out of town, as well as Angelenos who haven't spent much time DTLA.
Toro, uni, amaebi, and wagyu were good. Happy hour menu was good too. Food took forever to come out and the front receptionist had an attitude about not being able to be seated until the other person in my party was present. There were a total of 2 people in the entire restaurant.
Food was superb
very nice and enjoyable restaurant with great potential.
This place was far to expensive, and the food was below par. The worst thing we ate was the JFC, very dry and bland. The waiter barely came to the table, and we spent over $200 for 2 people. I would seriously pass this location.
Impressed! This was my first time visiting Mrs Fish and I am glad I had the opportunity, because now I'm a fan. Service was exceptional. The greeter who checked is in, the host, our waitress and servers were all very hospitable and were very eager to assist and meet our needs.
The ambiance was great. Dressy with a chill mood. The aquatic tank and live dishes are a great touch to the overall theme.
A hot towel to get started, perfect touch.
The food was on par with everything else, flavorful, delicious and priced just right. I had the Barracuda and Toro sushi, delicious. We will definitely be back for more. Thank you for making out night great.
This is really the coolest restaurant I've ever been to. The atmosphere is great, super fancy, awesome artwork and interiors. SUPER cool and it won't break the bank! Food was fresh and beautiful. An incredible experience for sure. LOVE the art
We went there for our anniversary. It was just a regular sushi place. Nothing special! But also no complaints.
Seriously obsessed and love this place! Would highly reccomend this place!
We had a booth on the lower level for our group of six. The setting and food were amazing. I had previously dined in the main level and enjoyed the lower level immensely as it felt special and allowed for great conversation until the DJ and band began. Loved the music but we all had to start shouting at one another to be heard. Service was attentive. I think there were at least six different people coming and going which was ok but not ideal.
