We had a great time dining at Mrs. Fish! The food was really good and we really liked the great selection of different types of foods available to try and taste. We were celebrating my friends birthday and the staff there made us feel so welcome and were so incredibly accomodating and sweet! I would recommend this place to all my friends and plan on telling them they MUST go check it out for themselves. Great place!

Beautiful restaurant, terrific food and very responsive management. Server was absent and slow. Restaurant was not overly busy at the time so no reason for the poor wait service.

Maitre' D was so kind and cool. Food was fantastic!!!! SOOO good. Service was slow and, when we asked her different questions about the food, she had no clue. Wouldn't say that she would find out. She just said she didn't know. Asked her several times for water and tea refills until they actually happened. Didn't seem happy about being there. Would come back but ask for another server. Tipped well though.

Spectacular space, with incredible ambiance. The sushi and apps were out of this world. Highly recommend for a night on the town - your evening could start and end here. The manager was so nice and brought out a final nigri for us to try. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

This is a cool concept and I like the aquarium/ambiance inside, but for what you pay it is overpriced. Our check came out to easily over ~$120 for two people (1 alcoholic drink each) and I was still hungry afterwards. Do not expect this to fill you up at all, but that is Japanese cuisine for you.

My date and I were handled with great care by both FOH and BOH - even after I so gracefully knocked over a bottle of soy sauce the moment we sat down. They cleaned the spill right away as if it never happened and brought over a dish, compliments of the chef.

Very surprised by this place. We went with friends as an option after we could not get reservations at our other favorite spots. The food was great and the atmosphere perfect for our gathering. It is right below Perch, so we went there for a cocktail first. Will definitely be back.

First time here, and the ambiance grabs your attention from the entrance. You can tell as you descend the stairway that you’re heading someplace special. Standing underneath the aquarium is a great sight. The menu is limited, but special. I always appreciate a menu that lists a few great selections, rather than everything under the sun done averagely. The device was excellent and the manager made her way to our table to greet us with a tasty sample.

The restaurant, while only open a few months, has all the makings of a hot spot. It has a perfect downtown vibe that I hope does well.

The ambiance is nice and cocktails were delicious. The food...not delicious. Very basic/uninspired and flavors were one dimensional. We ordered about 10 different dishes and we didn't really like anything. Our server was super sweet though and we would come back for cocktails only.

The food was really good especially the chocolate cake, chicken meatball skewers and fish; but the service sucked! They were taking long to bring out items - one item that I had ordered from the beginning was brought out right after dessert? And then one of my guests ordered a drink that took them almost an hour to bring out and they kept messing it up! They also charged us for an item that we never ended up drinking but didn't notice it until after we paid. It was basically a hot mess. I would recommend people to try the place for their food but beware for the horrible service they offer.

We assumed a few of the $20 plates would fill two of us up, but when we saw the portion sizes we were pretty shocked. The fish appetizer (I forget the name) was literally four paper thin slices of fish for $20. The beef "skewers" were actually just three small lollipop-sized, breaded balls of meat on toothpicks. The food tasted great and the entree's were a good portion though pretty expensive. The highlight of the night was the japanese whiskey bar on the 2nd floor which gets a little more lively later in the night, though not nearly as rowdy as the bar used to be before the renovation.

We went to Mrs Fish to celebrate my husband’s birthday and it was one of the best dinner experiences I had recently.
Food was amazing. We only ordered maki and nigari, but it was just something out of this world. Poetry for your taste buds! You can taste all the different flavors distinctively and all together make perfect sense. To be honest I can’t decide which of all the rolls we ordered was my favorite, because all of them had something exquisite to it. Just to mention few: golden yuzu, downtown garden, smoking trees.
As for the drinks, I had lychee martini which was not in the menu but they prepared it to the perfection. My husband had two Japanese beers, and I can say that their selection is really good.
Décor was eclectic and modern with a fish tank over the bar, just amazing. The restaurant has different levels so it does not feel like you are in a basement. Exposed pipes and concrete columns give an industrial look.
Waitress and managers were all attentive and friendly. I mentioned that it was my husband's birthday and the waitress brought a special dessert with green tea ice cream and chocolate cake, yummy!
Three managers came by our table to ask if everything was ok and met our expectations. We wanted to have a drink at the roofbar after dinner and they accompanied us all the way to the bar (we skipped the line) so what can I say? We had VIP treatment!!
We really enjoyed our experience there, not only dinner which was incredible but the ambience plus the attention we got from everybody working there was just above and beyond what we were expecting.
I highly recommend this restaurant

Great food and cool venue! Service was just ok - you can tell they just reopened and are working through some things but we ha a great time and will go back! Nice bonus was that one of the managers walked us over to Perch so we wouldn’t have to stand in the line and by passed it to the elevators!!!

Mrs. Fish is a great place to view fabulous Japanese modern art...and the food and service are just as impressive. Mrs Fish is a new downtown restaurant that opened a few weeks ago. From street level you immediately descend, under the “sea,” into a multi-level subterranean den that evokes both the 30s glamour of old Los Angeles and the hip, modern vibe of now. Apparently the owners love Japan and brought all their favorite artwork into the space, which is impressive and unique. Want to know more about a specific piece? Just ask! The service is joltingly outstanding, given LA standards. No pretentiousness or blasé attitudes here. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and gracious. Let’s hope it stays that way as time goes on!
Mrs Fish is both loungey and restauranty. Perfect for drinks and small bites after work, or a lazy sit down dinner. Once we were seated on the upper level, overlooking the room, taking in the great soundtrack, we ordered a bottle of sake, edamame, and the albacore with yuzu soy vinaigrette appetizer. All were very tasty. Then we shared a variety of a la carte nigiri sushi, including maguro, toro, ama-ebi, kampachi, and hamachi. Very delicious! Next we ordered the kurobuta pork belly yakitori and the braised short rib—both were outstanding! The short rib was an entree portion, quite large for two people, and cooked to perfection with root vegetables and a potato purée. We finished by sharing a chocolate mousse-like cake with matcha ice cream. Very delectable, and quite a generous portion. We ended up taking the rest of the short rib and half the cake home.
Overall Mrs Fish gets an A for us—excellent food, outstanding service, fabulous room, and the perfect vibe. We wish them a lot of success!

My sister was in town for a visit, and we decided to try Mrs. Fish. I wanted to show her something cool, different, and a little "LA". It was fantastic! The food was delicious and beautiful. Cocktails were perfect. Furthermore, the service was phenomenal. The staff and manager (Brett?) went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful evening. Getting to check out the view from Perch with a cocktail afterwards was the cherry on top. Fantastic evening all around. Thank you!!!! :)
