above average Indian food, close to Staples Center
This restaurant is in the most unlikely location -- next door to a car wash and across the street from L.A. Live. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but food quality and service are great. If you're looking for an alternative to the much pricier restaurants in the area, Mr. Masala is the place to go.
The waitress didn’t know the menu well but the guys in the back came out and explained couple things on the menu. I ordered chicken tikka masala and shrimp vindaloo.. would have been nice if they explained that both are tomato base .. i should’ve gotten the chicken curry instead. The garlic naan & samosas were delicious . It’s authentic curry .. no ambiance brought our own beer
Definitely not worth the walk from the OMNI on Grand. Food a bit spicy as requested but had no taste whatsoever. Quite bland. No beer, which was annoying. One could purchase and bring, but not knowing the area didn't know where to purchase. Said they were dropping OpenTable site, but I'd drop them gladly. Extremely disappointed. It was just a "pair of walls" place, a nothing place.
Delicious food and very convenient before sporting events at Staples center. We much prefer this quiet, tasty, and reasonable place over the chain restaurants at LA Live.
We were in the area for a concert at the Staples Center. We walked over to Mr. Masala, hoping it was OK. It was more than OK. It was very very good. The price was right, the service was fantastic, and the food was great. Highly recommend.
