DJ our server was very attentive and we appreciate that. The salads were both excellent (caesar kale and quinoa) and large portions. Mussel appetizer was also excellent and lots of mussels and the short rib entree was great. We were the only patrons dining at the time we were there so obviously very quiet. We chose to sit by the window facing Mill Street. Minor issue but the view of the patio area was basically stacked tables, chairs and miscellaneous. Pretty tacky. We were there on a Wednesday and were pleasantly surprised to learn that all wine by the bottle were half price. We definitely will come back next year when we're in town. Especially on a Wednesday!
Amazing food and cocktails served in comfortable, quiet spot with trendy decor. Attentive friendly wait staff. Competitive price for the area
Last minute reservation. Not super crowded but great drinks and meal and service. Great value
Don’t believe the negative reviews, the service was personal and the food was great! Great place to grab a quick and quality meal before hitting the town.
Very bad attitude from everyone because it was nye no one was paying attention to dinner customers. We used to go every year but surely this was our last.
Food was awffffffullllll! For a seafood restaurant they were out of a ton of things with an already tiny menu! Save your money and def skip this place - they’ll never be open for another season.
All of the food we had was tasty, but still a limited menu like its predecessor Grey Lady. 5 entrees and they were out of 1 of them. Wine by the glass is just 1 per type, and just listed by type ( ie Chardonnay).
Mr. Grey is lovely inside and our service was very good (friendly, attentive). However, the food was a real disappointment. The calamari appetizer was tasty but neither my husband nor I cared for the dipping sauces it came with. Short ribs were over-salted and the cheese grits were undercooked. Mr. Grey has some real work to do to be on par with other Aspen restaurants.
We miss you Grey Lady. We miss you so much. The menu is small. The food is ok. So sad. Grey Lady was one of our favorites. Please please please bring back the clam chowder. That was the best.
Really impressed by Mr Grey. Great service, nice menu. One of the best meals of the week in Aspen.
The food was good not great but the service and staff were excellent.
Close to the skating rink and a great place to stop with my 2 kids!
Limited menu, but what they do offer, they do it very well.
Loved it! Food and drinks excellent especially calimari, trout paté and cauliflower app and salads. Only so so was fish tacos and seafood linguini. Will definitely be back!
The Peruvian chicken is life changing. Great vibe, great weather. Would recommend
Very disappointing. I should have read the other reviews. Limited and pricy menu. Service was terrible. Manager was rude. We had moved our table slightly to get out of the sun. The 2 tables next to us were empty. The manager and worker approached us— manager was red-faced and flustered— acting like our table move was the end of the world. Even said we were blocking the area and creating a hazard in case of fire. Mind you, this is an open air patio with complete ease of entry and exit. Next, the manager said they needed to move some boxes. We moved over. The box was a single box of 6 sparkling waters. Our check was $150+ for 4 people. We had 2 average tasting chicken sandwiches, the trout Pate, fried calamari and 3 glasses of wine. For the price— it was average at best. And the experience lousy. We’ll never go back.
Waitress was terrible. Someone in our party ordered shrimp cocktail, salad and a main course. Everything came out at the same time. He had three plates in a row and it was ridiculous!! They were clueless. The place was empty and we wouldn’t go back.
We were really disappointed in the food.
The menu posted on open table was NOT the available menu, and the waiter had no knowledge of it. Small limited menu, and the food was mediocre. Will not return for the price. Too many good options in Aspen to choose from.
Too noisy and DJ unnecessary at lunch
Great ambiance, exceptional staff, so-so food.
The crab cakes were ok, mussels were good, simpleton salad was very mediocre, steak frites were good. We had noted that we were celebrating my birthday when we made the reservation, but no one mentioned anything about it. When we requested a dessert menu, we were told the pastry chef was out sick, so no desserts were available. That's fine. We were offered an after dinner coffee drink or something similar after my husband mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday. We ordered Bailey's. When the check came, we were charged $14 each for them. We had assumed (shame on us) that the drinks were offered in place of a complimentary birthday dessert. The place was very empty as well.
Grey Lady is a fantastic spot to grab a drink and a quick bite. They have a great selection of food. The lobster mac n' cheese is a must!!
The food wasn’t really up to the standards of many of the other aspen restaurants we have been to. They were out of iced tea, their keg was broken and only had one beer on tap, the soup and bread was piping hot (resembled being zapped in the microwave), shrimp tasted like they were just frozen shrimp, steak was just ok (the grill taste was so overpowering it was almost too bitter to enjoy). The Mac and cheese was amazing!!! Overall, disappointed that we wasted a night at this restaurant instead of one of the many other amazing restaurants in town.
Good food and service however was seated next to a table of 8 with little wiggle room and they were very loud making difficult to talk with my wife
Wonderful evening , great food
Bulgarian waiter was great! Food too.
Great mussels. So so crabcakes. Friendly service. Relaxed atmosphere.
unfortunately the food was mediocre and the service even worse. we were given our food but no cutlery or napkins. The cocktail was good.
The food was very average or below average. Not worth the cost.
Had a reservation for 6:30pm. Showed up at 6:20 and was seated promptly. Waiter never came to get drink orders. Another party showed up 5 minutes after us and the waiter took their drink order immediately. We waited another 15 minutes, still no waiter. Decided to leave so can't comment on the food. Service is terrible and well below par considering the area. The restaurant was also not busy, which I now understand why, so there was no excuse for their subpar/non-existent service.
Such a disappointment. They had a large private party going so perhaps that’s why our experience was so terrible. Service went from rushed to too slow. The crab cakes were pure batter and tasteless. We had an 8:30 reservation and shortly before 10:00 while we were still working on our last course, the waitress told us that the kitchen was closing. The lobster roll that Grey Lady is known for was miniscule. The oysters were tiny but tasty. I always try to give Aspen restaurants some slack but, sadly, we won’t be back.
Food was so-so, wine list was poor, lamb chops were fatty, server was pleasant. Not extremely GF friendly.
We love sitting outside, quiet enough to have a conversation and the people watching is great
The food is really good
The bottle of white wine was brought to our table warm...then the waiter took it back to chill and we had to wait quite awhile.the waiter offered a different Riesling and said it was another ‘sweet’ Riesling ——however the Riesling we ordered was not sweet,
The lamb chops were awful. They were very tough and not eye appealing!
We were disappointed and embarrassed as we had houseguests from Finland who are here for their first time.
It will be a long time before we come back...if ever!
Fabulous evening and very accommodating!!!
Nice ambiance, service was quite slow. Menu options limited but food was very good. Although most restaurants in Aspen are relatively expensive, this was a particularly low value. Example, $9 for an order of fries that at first looked like a good portion was actually very small. Owner was really nice.
Bartender was fabulous, all else forgettable. The menu was so limited it almost felt like a bar menu.
Had lunch there two years ago and the food very good so we decided on dinner this visit. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as memorable. Only one entree out of four got good marks...chicken on a brick. The lobster in the pasta dish was hard to find. The lamb and steak entrees were just okay. Beware! They charge for ice. At the end of the day, we thought what we paid for our dining experience was not worth what we received.
Great food and great ambience.
Always like this place. This time our server dropped our main course along side one of our 2 appetizers even before our drinks arrived. Poor execution but good food and atmosphere.
