MR CHOW - Miami Ratings and Reviews
It felt like MR CHOW at the W South Beach was THE place to be at 10 pm during Art Basel. It was a scene in a movie with one beautiful/handsome international diner after another. At a busy front door we watched a master of the universe tell his story as to why his party should be seated now to a patient and efficient receptionist. In this wonderful, madcap world of white lacquer, white flowers and waiters dressed in all-white, everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. It all seemed to run under the watchful and darting eyes of several maitre d's who took us to our table and checked up on us. The delicious, white-tablecloth Chinese food was served family-style, so it kept coming which added to the magical melee. When a late-night dinner begins with "May I pour you a glass of champagne?" you know you are in for a bit of fun.
I have been to several of the restaurants all over the US. I visited the one in Miami several times but this time it was a lot less to be desired. The food has changed and the service started out OK until my friend came in and they would not allow him to order although there were many empty tables in the restaurant I was very disappointed about how we were treated It was one server and I do not remember his name who try to accommodate us and felt terrible about the way we were treated For the amount of money we spent it was very disappointing
This was our first visit and we really enjoyed our dinner. The service is exceptional. The dining room is very pretty - upscale, modern with beautiful fresh flowers throughout. We were very pleased with the drinks and food. They offer family style dining which allows you try sample many different dishes. They have great vegan accommodations. We look forward to returning soon.
Nothing like the New York location. Service was too much. People were just coming by to show they were “attentive”. At a really great restaurant, the staff quietly observed you md comes by when you need something. Here they just interrupt your conversations. Food is good, but in a city with really good Chinese food you would pay 1/3 for this level if quality.
I was last here nine years ago and the service and attention towards guests is good as ever.
The waiting staff were gracious with their recommendations on what we should order and what would be sufficient. The sommelier took his time to explain the best wine to accompany our dishes. One particular waiter who trained at the famous hotel school in Lausanne - not far from my home in Switzerland - was so friendly; just enough and not too much. Just what one would expect from the team at Mr. Chow.
I have been to Mr. Chow in Knightsbridge, London, on a number of occasions, but everything about this restaurant in Miami is superb. I would highly recommend again and again.
We have eaten at Chow's in NYC and Miami many times - it appeared this time that the entrees have become appetizer size. Chow entrees are meant for sharing and 3 entrees should be more than enough to feed 3 people with rice and sides. We all left hungry. In NYC, we'll just go to Phillipe, same food, same prices, double the size dishes.
Mr. Chows was a nice experience. The decor was beautiful the fresh flowers placed at the table was as well a nice touch . However, the servers were a bit overwhelming. The interruptions were constant during dinner. I wouldn't return because the food was not satisfiying to my taste. I recommend dining at least once it's a gorgeous restaurant.
The place is interesting as you walk in you are accosted by waiters, Champagne cart, loud and lively music. That’s where it stops. The waiter-called the Captain explained everything is served family style so we thought the portions would be decent, not so. By family style it just means they dump it in the middle of the table, but it’s not even enough for one person. It didn’t come with any rice and they didn’t bother to tell us. We spent $160 which was only one drink each and we left hungry. Don’t waste your money. It’s all a show with nothing to back it up. I could have made better food at home.
We enjoyed Mr Chow so much that we went back for dinner two nights in a row! It was quiet on Wednesday night but a bit louder and busier Thursday night. The service, however, was exceptional both nights. The staff is so friendly and attentive, and they dont try to rush you through your meal just so they can turnover the table. The food was, obviously, excellent, or we would not have gone 2 nights in a row. It is pricey, but it's worth the splurge every once in a while. The potstickers and fiery beef are our favorites! And the Nutella cheesecake for dessert...yum! It's a place to people watch. We will definitely be back!
We have had our anniversary dinner here for the past seven years on our way to our annual dive trip in Cayman. The staff always remembers us and what we like. We never look at a menu, but ask our servers to surprise us, and they consistently do exactly that. They have a extensive wine list, which includes some great wines that are fairly priced, just ask, they will recommend some hidden gems. The food is great, and the service is incredible!
