Mr Chow - Beverly Hills Ratings and Reviews
Disappointed with service , ambiance and food. Space was crammed , our waiter disappeared for most of the evening. Duck was dry and over cooked. Having dined at Mr. Chow NYC, the one in Beverly Hills was really inferior and not a good value for the experience.
I don’t mind to spend top $ for a great meal.. I really don’t mind but the overall experience was so so.. the food was ok.. service was impeccable and warm by the little tables for two all line up its absolutely ridiculous..
In a restaurant of that caliber just remove one little table for two please.. what are they going to loose? Four dinners at night??
Is it worth it? Nope..
This is not a joke.. the space between the tables is about 2” and not more..
It is a beautiful room but the tables are so packed together that you are sharing two conversations plus your own. The service was sporadic, long absences and then a flurry of activity. It was right at 60 minutes from being seated to receiving our first courses.
The food is good but not special occasion great. And does not match the pricing. Feels like an event place but doesn’t quite deliver that in food or service.
The food was pretty good. I loved the glazed prawn with walnuts. It is a delicious appetizer. They give you a full plate of food, and there is plenty to share. Everyone is nice, including the staff and other patrons. I definitely recommend. But the price can add up!
We were on time and well dressed, yet they seated us next to the kitchen door, and behind a noisy bridal shower that screamed the whole meal. The waiter wanted to quick turn our table and 'insisted' on ordering for us.. We got so so dishes, bad service. Elbow to elbow with the next diners. We could not talk, it was too loud! Go elsewhere. It was not worth any experience you are hoping for.
We have been dining at Mr. Chow off and on for 30+ years and have never experienced service as poor as what we experienced tonight. It was bad enough that we waited over 30 minutes between courses — but the fact that our waiter more than once walked through his area and checked EVERY TABLE EXCEPT OURS, and gave us lip service when we asked what was the delay — well, that added insult to injury.
It will be a while before we dine again at Mr. Chow.
Not sure the hype for this place. Maybe it just wasn’t for my boyfriend and I because we weren’t impressed. Food was mediocre at best, ambience was lackluster and menus overpriced. Also the restaurant is way too small. I felt like I was in a hole in the wall Chinese spot in china town in like Boston or New York. Not a five star restaurant. I don’t know I...don’t think I’ll be back.
Mr. Chow has a lively and festive atmosphere. Our waiter wanted to order for us and didn't
really give us enough time to make our own choices. I found this to be annoying. Food is good
but certainly not outstanding. Dinner for 3 people with 2 glasses of champagne came to close
to $400.00. This is outrageous. I am certainly not in a hurry to dine there again.
The service people, waiter, host, etc were all gracious, welcoming and charming. The food is terribly over-priced, the venue was quiet at 6:30 but by 8:30 we couldn't hear ourselves think, let alone visit.
Our bill for two, with one glass each of chapagne, and one person ordering one glass of wine,
was with tip, about $300. That to me, is not what I could easily recommend to friends. We went there because it is a special place to my friend, who was visiting from out of town. I enjoyed it to a point, but would have left sooner, once the noise escalated. That to me, is an awfully expensive dinner for what was served to us.
I was celebrating my birthday during this visit. The waiter was superb! I indicated that only ate seafood, vegetables & rice. He asked if he could create the menu for me. He asked a few more questions and we sat back waiting to see what he put together. The result was a variety of dishes that was outstanding! I enjoyed everything he picked! After dinner, I was surprised with a slice of chocolate cake (with a candle) and the staff singing happy birthday. It was an awesome experience.
