Mr Chow - Beverly Hills Ratings and Reviews
I was celebrating my birthday during this visit. The waiter was superb! I indicated that only ate seafood, vegetables & rice. He asked if he could create the menu for me. He asked a few more questions and we sat back waiting to see what he put together. The result was a variety of dishes that was outstanding! I enjoyed everything he picked! After dinner, I was surprised with a slice of chocolate cake (with a candle) and the staff singing happy birthday. It was an awesome experience.
Mr. Chow continues to have outstanding Chinese cuisine with some nice twists. Letting the waiter order for you is a great way to go to have some new dishes. You can always make specific requests and tell them to include/exclude particular foods. Service is great as well!
My husband ordered a glass of champagne. It was flat no bubbles. Presented by the first server, the 2nd server recognized the issue. Resolved problem.
More attention was given to larger tables. Parties of two were mildly overlooked.
Seats are too close, it is too loud. But what can you do?
The food has seen better days. But was tasty.
Food was not great. The signature dishes were nothing special. Not sure about the quality of the food.. The decor is nice from the bottom half of the restaurant, although the lamps and glass partitions were crooked, but the top half looks poorly executed and cheap. The ceiling needs painting and the curtains that cover the VIP area need cleaning and would be nice to see them more oriental styled.
I have always wanted to try Mr. Chow. Now that I have I won’t ever have to go back. Instead I will drive out to Monterey Park and get some legit Chinese food. Serves me right for thinking I could get something relatively authentically ethnic in this part of town. Shrimp toast was pretty good but the rest was pretty meh. The famous Mr. Chow noodles were crap. There was this awful red meat sauce slathered over hideously soggy noodles. I don’t know what made the green prawns green....totally sketchy. You are better off going to PF Chang’s for that kind of “Chinese” food. The only thing which was really high caliber was the service. I can’t believe I passed up going to Bouchon, Pastaio, or even Mastros.
Very disappointing food experience. A more capable kitchen staff is called for here. We shared, among other dishes, the filet mignon and bamboo (crispy) duck. The meat was tasteless and well done. The duck was definitely crispy-right to the bone, and the rice pancakes where cold, dry and lifeless.
The service was as good as it gets. The staff from entry to exit couldn't have done more to make our evening more enjoyable. If I ever go back, it would be to have an evening of old school professionals serve a dinner.
I hadn't seen my family from the east coast in over 20 years. Diddy would take me to Mr Chows when I was a young man in new York when I worked for bad boy entertainment, fast forward I couldn't think of a better place to have reunion.
The ambiance was really nice, the food was not so good...I would not recommend this restaurant if you would like some good food.
I ordered the Crispy Beef.......I could not decifer what type of meat came to the table and the asparagus was slimey. The seating was uncomfortable and beyond terrible.
Completely, unfortunately, underwhelming. The food wasn't tasty.
We had to wait to be seated 35 minutes after our reservation, while many tables were open with no one sitting at them.
Not a hot spot.
Too bad :-((
You can't go past Mr Chow when in LA. It has a great vibe to it. Starts with a drink at the bar, meeting your waiter who is impressively dressed in a white apron, and just seem to organise everything for you. The Champagne cart can't be missed. No need to order off the menu, just tell them what you like and they will order for you. You can't go past the duck. Overall a great experience.
We all loved Mr Chow! They were so friendly and accommodating-we had a 10:30 reservation and due to the football game we were not able to make it there till 11 and we had to add 2 more people!! The food was delicious, we did the prix fixe menu and let them pick our choices sine we were so late----everything was wonderful! The prawns and chicken satay seemed to be everyone's favorites!
Worst visit ever to this Beverly Hills stalwart. Early reservation and few diners at restaurant. Still took 20 minutes to get a drink delivered. Handed drinks and menus at same time and asked if we were ready to order. Told them to give us a chance to read menu. That was last time had any interaction with our waiter. Bus boys helped us from that point as we couldn't get waiters attention. Food came out lukewarm. Was there really beef in the "Crispy Beef" entre? Entirely left off one of the entrees we ordered. Offered to prepare another one as we sat there finished with our meal. Never offered us dessert or coffee. Had to flag busboy again to get a cup of coffee. Just a bad and quite disappointing evening at one of our favorites. And since when has Mr. Chow's sunk so low that women wearing flip flops and denim cut off shorts are allowed in for Saturday evening dining at this white table cloth restaurant??? Same with the guys wearing dirty t shirts and baseball caps. Please clean everything up Mr. Chow's. This is not who you are.
