While the service was excellent, decor and food presentation nice, food quality decent, it's really over priced and overrated. Definitely not for the claustrophobic - the tables are squeezed in and packed tight. So tight that they have to move a table to let you in to sit and move it to get up.
They should find a larger location so we don't have to sit on top of strangers.
I wouldn't return.
The restaurant was closed by the law. Since 12/17/2017.
I went there with my family and what a surprise!!!!!!
Why is this restaurant still on OpenTable????? How can you do that??????
Is a Must.
Everything is perfect. Food is true food, service is true service, price is rationale. I got in with high expectations and I went out anxious to have a new occasion to get back.
Particular congrats to crispy chicken and crispy duck. Shrimps were something else! Rice is very good and very convenient if you taste the spicy sauce.
Best thing you can do is go there and you tell me. I am sure you will love it!!
The food was really tasty, we had a girls night out, a party of four and we went for the restaurant week tasting menu with great a selection of appetizers and entrees. Unfortunately my cosmopolitan was not good, but then the Aperol Spritz was better. The service could be more attentive for a restaurant defined "upscale".
DO not go during restaurant week! Rushed us all night long! Also, food was no better than any decent Chinese hole in the wall. Tables were on top of each other so zero privacy. If you drink wine ask to see a menu! They push their Mr. Chow wine which is totally nothing special and $22 a glass.
Mr. Chow never disappoints! The food is incredible and the service is amazing. Perfect place for a relaxing calm friends get together. Chicken satay is a must to get and Mr. Chow noodles were really delicious. For second course we ordered crispy beef and velvet chicken which was served with seasonal veggies on the side. Overall everything was extremely good and yummy. Love this place!
Waited 32 minutes to sit! Despite arriving early. Unacceptable
Exciting and Vibrant
A little rushed service
Kevin the maitre d was outstanding
Bejing Duck excellent
Excellent Bar scene
The food could have been better but the atmosphere was classic
my reservation was for 10pm, and i was sitting at my table at minutes to 10...the servers were really friendly and knowledgeable of all my menu selections, and quick to answer any questions. my meal was also served fresh, hot and in a timely manner. I'll definitely visit again.
Great food and great experience
Despite having a reservation, had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. The heavily tattooed hostess was less than classy but her looks were at least better than her attitude. The Mr. Chow Noodles were decent but nothing to write home about. The chicken was substandard. Mr. Chow has really fallen off from where it was 15 years ago.
We have been going to the Mr Chow restaurants since the 1980’s and enjoy the food, atmosphere and service. The London location is, by far, the best. We enjoy the high energy of the 57th Street location but we seem to always feel rushed once we finally get to the table (we waited at the bar for 20 minutes past our reservation time). This last visit was just over an hour from champagne toast to dessert with wait staff trying to remove my plate twice before I was finished. I have asked in the past that they slow the pace but it seldom works. Also, I had to ask for the wine list well into the meal and ordered a glass instead of a bottle since we were already into the main course. By the way, the Mr Chow Cabernet was quite good. While we will return to 57th Street, we will go to the Tribeca location when we want a more casual pace. Thanks.
Cena con la familia
Not worth the price. Waited 30 mins for our table even when we had a reservation. First time going and won’t return! Extremely loud and tables are squeezed in.
The food is excellent, and the staff superb! After many years, it's still one of my favorite restaurants.
There is magic to this thirty-seven year old classic New York restaurant. From the décor, to the drinks, to the food it transports me to an era when dining out was a special occasion and Mr Chow's on 57th Street makes me feel that way every time.
I absolutely enjoyed my favorite. The staff was absolutely wonderful!!
Not the friendliest hostess and we needed to wait 20 minutes for our reserved table, but after that all was good. We took the restaurant week menu, as it had some interesting dishes.
Appetizer shrimps were great. Dumplings good and the satay ok.
Main courses, to share, were excellent. Crispy Pork and beef dish outstanding, and the velvet chicken also good.
Sides of rice and string beans excellent.
We are little of the dessert, but good sorbet.
Service attentive and as we took the restaurant week menu prices were great. Only inflated by the champagne and Bellini we had before.
Clientele is eclectic. Hipsters mixed with older man younger gf crowd.
All in all a great experience.
Excellent food, served with care. Lively crowd. Will return again.
A very inviting place. We felt comfortable and at ease. The wait staff was
excellent. They were there when we needed them, but did not push us.
We will return soon.
Still the BEST Chinese in NYC!!
Quite simply, one of the best!!!
The service was great, absolutely no complaints. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It was my husbands birthday. We had a table of six. Mr chows allowed us to have a bday cake dropped off and after dinner they surprised my husband with it and even included candles. The entire room sang happy birthday to him. It was enjoyable, warm, friendly and inviting. The food was also fresh and delicious. The room was a little small but the atmosphere was comfortable.
Treated like VIP's upon arrival, Drinks were excellent, waiters were quick and attentive and the whole experience is a wonderful place to impress a date or fall a special occasion. ...... just great
Amazing service and amazing food. Obvious why it is a NY institution.
A terrific New Year's Eve party. We chose the late seating - 9:30 and were treated to a delicious holiday meal including lobster and filet mignon and jade dumplings (for celebration) and Mr. Chow's Noodles (for longevity). This place still exudes 1980's energy and attitude and the DJ playing mashups of disco and electronic music kept us moving all night!
Good time for New Years. Fun atmosphere with great food and fantastic service.
Mr Chow downtown is way better. The food here was mediocre and the host/staff is not as friendly as the downtown location.
My friend and I have a tradition of celebrating his bday in NY and we will dine at Mr Chow’s. The staff is always very professional and accommodating. Only thing that I didn’t appreciate was that the Maitre D allowed us in before 6 pm due to the severe cold and the blonde hostess seemed to have an issue with it. She reprimanded him for allowing us in less than 10 minutes before and it was extremely rude of her to do it where the guests were able to hear her.
Extremely Over priced for the tiny portions, you will leave hungry after spending a few hundred dollars. Wait staff not friendly at all and seemed bothered the whole time. This location of Mr Chows is no longer the great place that it used to be. Go to the downtown Mr Chows if you need to go to one.
Everyone's in our family loves Mr Chows!!! We have our favorite dishes and the service is always the BEST!!!!
Was disappointed in menu selection.Food was unexceptional.Price was ridiculously high.
Food was good but we were rushed out.
Two hundred dollars plus - out in 35 minutes...
Pushy waiters couldn't go any quicker to get you in and out. Cleared table while others still eating. So crambed in table had to be pulled in and out to go to the restroom. Over priced average food. Not worth your effort.
Food was excellent, waiters friendly, but there was a cold draft every once in a while (and because it’s rather narrow the waiters tend to inadvertently push you in your back when passing by)
Mothers b day
Excellent service. Food was great.
Been there many times. Always fun if you don’t mind being crowded and loud. Food was great and lots of it. We love this place when we want to party.
Service was not helpful may be The reservation time of 1030 is not a good idea
food was average to good but not the best and very pricey
