MR CHOW - 57th
The menu at MR CHOW is a combination of old authentic Beijing, Original Recipes, and the signature dishes such as Chicken Satay, MR CHOW Noodles, and Ma Mignon. MR CHOW also serves one of the best Beijing Ducks in the world.
The famous nightly handmade noodle show is presented in every location since the opening of London in 1968.
"Elegant Midtown Chinese and its newer TriBeCa sibling offer “big-league” eats in “welcome-to-the-’80s” digs..." - ZAGAT
I have been going here for years and the food is always good. Fun atmosphere, expensive but worth it.
Get the 9 seasons prawn and the gambei!
They offered champagne Cristal in a glass (usd 75.00 per cup) presenting the product closed in a new bottle, however, when they served the glass the waiter brought an open bottle, almost at the end with the damaged label indicating that they had reused or that was a long time ago in the bucket with water.
I love this place. It Chinese food at its best. Always consistent.
EXTREMELY overpriced, Green shrimp were amazing, everything else was just okay. Pressured into ordering upcharges
This was our very first time having dinner here at Mr. chows. The food was ok. We did the classic
Head waiter tried to up sell us
Mad when we did not comply
25 dollars for white rice!
NO THANK YOU: I find the servers to be obnoxious. They are clear as to what they want you to eat and if you don't want to do it their way, well they'll show you.............that's what I wrote 5 years ago. Last night we went with friends and the men let the women order. They were pushed into twice as much as anyone needed to eat. Now, the food is good but service is much too fast............we slowed them down and they weren't happy about it. Dinner cost $250/couple and there was no reason for it. NEVER AGAIN
Amazing food and service. Loved the iconic decor reminiscent of the old rainbow room. I wa nt to go back and have a cocktail at bar before dinner
Best food ever! We love the 57th street location! Everyone is so attentive to your needs. Great scenery!
We’ve had better Chinese for a lot less $$$
Too many tables, I had to be seat side by side with my guest.
Good food ,service not at the expected level.
Ambient very basic compared with same brand restaurants in different ww locations
As always, wonderful service and amazing food!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had, I would definitely go back.
No vuelvo
Mr. Chow is wonderful! The service is impeccable, food is outstanding, and ambiance is comfortable and inviting.
We had reservations and couldn't get our table right away so the Maitre D' provided us with two glasses of champagne on the house. We finally found our table and ordered a bottle, which was poured for us immediately. A server approached us within minutes of sitting and recommended the Mr. Chow Prix Fixé based on our desired order.
- Lobster Shumai: FINALLY a restaurant in NYC that knows how to make shumai correctly. If it's made right it doesn't need a sauce. The dish speaks for itself and it's lovely. There are two tiers with 3 shumai on each.
- Chicken Satay: MUST ORDER. The butter sauce that tops the tender chicken is delicious. I'm used to eating a dry piece of chicken and usually avoid this dish but I heard we had to try. I'm so happy we did because we left and couldn't stop talking about that sauce.
- Mr. Chow Noodles (Vegetable): Absolutely perfect. I don't know how anyone could say something bad about this dish, unless they're used to American style greasy noodles. I will order this again without hesitation. The table next to us said they wished they had ordered it after seeing it. So good!
- Shrimp Fried Rice: Perfectly cooked fried rice with limited shrimp. I wish there had been more shrimp but again, the rice on its own was so delicious that I didn't realize the lack of shrimp until later.
- Bok Choy: Al dente and flavorful! I'm happy we went with this vegetable dish because it perfectly complimented our entrees.
- Green Shrimp: OMG!!! You have to order this dish! I can't express how much we loved this dish. Plenty for two people, delicious, addicting.
There are many reviews stating Mr. Chow is too expensive for what you get. I didn't have that experience and I'm a foodie. If you don't want to pay the rate then go to a lower end Chinese restaurant. We can't wait to visit again!
Way overpriced. At least $100 per person is to expected , including tip. If this is what you anticipate paying for good food, small portions, excellent service, cramped space then you are informed.
Wonderful attentive staff and amazing food!
Enjoyed my visit to Mr. Chow! Would definitely visit again.
For me it one of my favorite Restaurant always is espectacular
Excellent. Great place and great staff
Mr. Chow’s is advertised as a staple in fine NY Asian Cuisine. The food quality is poor and brutally expensive. You are highly encouraged by the wait to staff to do the “per person” menu. Don’t make that decision because disappointment will follow. The “signature” crispy beef is basically fried fat. Our party of four cut into the slices and shared with our server there was no beef. Highly disappointing experience for our group as we were first time visitors.
Always a favorite. Service, food, and ambiance great as usual!
Amazing as always
Excellent customer service and the food was amazing. Mr. Chow never disappoints.
I enjoy going to Mr. Chow. The food id good. The service is wonderful. My only complaint is the prices are insane and not in a good way. The food is yummy, the hand made noodle show is fun the lychee martini are good. We had the chicken satay, fried rice, broccoli, sea bass and a shrimp dish, our portions were small. The amount you pay for the food does not match the quantity. If you have disposable income or a expense account then by all means go to MR CHOW.
Mr. Chow is by far one of my favorite restaurants in New York for many reasons but one in particular that the service is outstanding even on the busiest of nights. Unfortunately, the service was extremely lacking on during my visit which was incredibly disappointing. Regardless, the food and drinks were outstanding as always. I look forward to returning with better service.
Always a must when we visit NYC and never disappoints.
Great service beautiful decor and excellent food
Shrimp and dumplings fantastic chicken satay appetizer terrific
Pricy so not a everyday restaurant but for special occasions a great place
They say they are open till 11:30 pm so we made an after theater reservation We got there at 11:00, sat us down graciously and we asked for suggestions on spicy, flavorful dishes. The waiter suggested a couple of items, a beef dish and a chicken dish, we added dumplings.
The food was delivered in this order... chicken...flavorless., then dumplings and a few minutes later, the beef. An entry worth $35.00 is not served with even steamed rice. Ridiculous!!!!!
We then asked for steamed rice and I can’t remember maybe it was $15.00. It arrived 10 minutes later. The excuse wa that it was late and they deliver as available. For a full price meal, I expect full service.
The manager then took away the cold, flavorless chicken and obliged us with cold tofu salad as a favor.
I will never go back there.
It was excelent, service was impecable.
We were 30 minutes late but restaurant held table after I called and explained. Service was good. Food was good. Everyone enjoyed.
Food and service were outstanding.,We definitely would go back,?
My son and I ate here on Wednesday night. Our bill came to $218. We left a $40 cash tip on top of the $218 we paid with our debit card. This $40 tip was 20%. Upon checking my debit account - $53.22 had also been added. So a grand total of $93.55 for a tip on a $218 check???? NO!!! SO SHADY!!!! I have contacted the restaurant, but it has not responded!!!!!
Such delicious food. Special occasions or just a fabulous dinner. Right from the entrance you know it’s going to be good.
Delicious and service excellent! Great way to start our stay in NY... Highly recommend the Chicken Satay, Potstickers, Duck Crepes and Filet Mignon!
Everything was absolutely delicious. It was worth every penny. The ambiance was dim and romantic. The duck was crispy on the outside and so moist and tender on the inside. I wish I had a Mr. Chows in my area because I would go all the time.
The absolute best! I love everything about the restaurant!
