MOzen Bistro - Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I eat sushi in almost every city we visit and while the sushi is okay, the service was slow and the prices were ridiculous. For example, we had much better sushi, better service, and a bill that was one third the cost at RA Sushi on the Strip. I should have taken some of the other reviews more seriously that mentioned similar issues before we dined. Lesson learned!
It was ok. Over rated for the food. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was very nice. But was disappointed a bit with the food especially the whole fish 'Thai fried snapper'. The red sauce really spoiled the dish. The fish would have been good without it. The red sauce was like a ketchup sweet sauce that drowned the fish made it so un appealing. Ask for sauce on the side.
We were super disappointed, we've stayed at the Mandarin Oriental pretty much everywhere in the world and they are well known for their outstanding cuisine. Not the case at all for this restaurant. So far the worse dinning experience we had in vegas. We choose a tasting menu for the news eve and our "pan-fried" poulet came full of bones and cartilage. Not acceptable in any high level restaurant. Besides the service.... the picture of the place are great, but don't be full my friends, is not as nice when you get there. We were very disappointed.
The brunch on Saturday and Sundays is to die for! Their entrees and desserts are all unique, beautifully presented, smell incredible but are a delightful dance on your palate. I enjoyed the bento box, the green tea waffle (a must buy), and the lychee Pavlova. The guests that accompanied me equally enjoyed their kimchee and Thai green chili. The manager came by the table to check on us and wish us a Merry Christmas and the wait staff was attentive early on. Once we were served, it became very difficult to find a server to get any service. Although I think this depends on the day and temperament of the server; because on our second visit Crystal was incredible the whole time we were there!!!
Mandarin Oriental is always a quite oasis amidst the pandemonium of Las Vegas. MOZen restaurant is one of the few places on the strip that one can have a quiet environment to enjoy the best in fresh ingredients crafted in a creative way. Excellent Asian dishes with enough other American/European and International menu items to keep everyone happy. Well chosen wine list enhances the experience
1. The place was was tatty: exposed wires on 2 sides of the restaurant leading to the tills and the lampshades were adrift giving an unkempt air.
2. I ordered a bottle of wine that turned out to be unavailable. I ordered another and that too was unavailable. Eventually our wine arrived when we were finishing our main course. This was a truly amateurish piece of hospitality.
3. Given the comments above there were very few people eating in the restaurant and the atmosphere was dead.
4. I've eaten and stayed at many hotels in the Mandarin Oriental Group over the past 40 years and these have all been memorable. The chain is pretty classy after all. However, stay and the meal at the Las Vegas joint was not just the worst but a disgrace to the brand.
M0zen Bistro is still amazing 1 year later. The view, the ambiance, the service - all relaxing and wonderful. The food was exquisite as well. My table had the samosas, miso soup, salmon, and pad thai. All great and worth the price! I miss the tandoori sheekh kebab though!
MOzen Bistro is the must go to restaurant in LV. Menu is eclectic with delicious options, even for kids. We found this restaurant when we stayed at the exquisite Mandarin Oriental but return wherever we stay in LV. Quiet and elegant. Expensive but worth it. On this visit, our waitress was too chatty but generally, the service is impeccable and understated.
The food was delicious, the room was too warm, the hostess was rude/not very welcoming (whereas the one at breakfast today was wonderful and very kind), and the service was super slow. Maybe they were having an off night but at least our dinner itself was lovely.
Loved breakfast and service. Ate there twice and we had huevos rancheros, salmon scramble and muesli. Service was outstanding.
Dinner was less successful. Menu is mix of sushi (rolls) and Indian and some southeast Asian. In other words it's all over the lot. Sushi roll we had was good. Indian and Thai entrees were mediocre. The poor comparison on the entrees was highlighted by the fact we had dinner the night before in Lemongrass at the Aria. That restaurant is at a middling price point and the food was outstanding and far better than our dinner at Mozen. I'd recommend Mozen pick a cuisine and stick to it.
We had a fantastic time in the Las Vegas Mandarin Oriental.
The views from the 23rd floor are fantastic and the cocktails are great.
We ate at the Bistro and the food was amazing. Julia was our waitress and she was courteous, funny and knowledgeable - a credit to the hotel. Please wish her well from us.
All in all, an excellent evening.
Annabelle and Mark.
