Mozambique Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Outstanding food. Great location.
We had dinner here with a group of friends, including our teenage children who can be picky eaters. There were steaks, pork chops and a rack of lamb that were all beautifully prepared. The curries, both lamb and seafood, were outstanding. Peri peri prawns were also a hit. I had the sea bass and it was one of the best I've had anywhere. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I'll definitely be coming back!
A great restaurant that accommodated a large party for my wife's birthday. Wait staff was excellent and very attentive. Cocktails were on point. The food was well described and portioned correctly for the price and tasted awesome. We will definitely return!
We were with a group of 8 in town for the Rose Bowl. The food was wonderful and the staff was were phenomenal! Fined for NYE and the meal and ambience were fabulous. We had a quiet, private dining room. Will definitely return if ever in Laguna Beach area and would highly recommend this place.
Good service. No hummus and chips. Martinis sporadic in appearance. Ate on rooftop area tv loud. Not fancy enough to justify $450 tan for 8 people with TVs playing and music loud. Had romantic memories of eating and drinking there. Lost us as customers though. Best aspect was friendly manager and hard working staff. Food has declined. And those pita chips and hummus always seemed special!
Was eager to try what was billed as authentic South African food. Surprised to find a dated dining room with 90s music blaring and a menu with unnaturally high prices. No bread offered for the table. Stuffed mushroom appetizer was delicious and it was all downhill from there. Steak was tough to cut and to chew. Other dishes equally underwhelming. There’s a sports bar upstairs — maybe that’s the governing vibe for this place.
We sat on the roof, with a view of the Hills. Heat lamp made it very comfy. Drinks were delivered fast and well-made. Service was excellent. Starters were excellent, fresh oysters and light flaky tasty samosas. Good selection of wines and two Currys, seafood and lamb, demonstrated how skilled the chef(s) were. Dessert, Brownie and Portuguese Pudding, heavenly. Always liked this place and once again it delivered. Say hello to the Tropical Birds downstairs. Perfect setting for 51st Anniversary.
Mozambique was our choice for a Christmas get-together. Because it was a beautiful sunny day, we asked for patio seating and were given the very best corner table! We ordered a seafood salad, huevos rancheros and enchiladas stuffed with scrambled eggs. I noted that the menu stated pinto beans with my order, but was served black beans instead. When I complained, our server tried to change them out, but was told they were out of pinto beans. It was 12:45 and the restaurant was not busy, so they must not have made them. They did offer me a choice of a side as a substitute. I chose fresh fruit. It arrived after I had finished my meal, but it was delicious. Because it was a special occasion we indulged in the chocolate ganache with vanilla ice cream. It was an absolutely perfect end to our meal!
Came to hear jazz as advertised but no one played. Wine list was poor. Wife ordered rib eye rare and it was way over cooked. I ordered a combo plate....my steak was under cooked, the chicken was dry, the shrimp were raw and the sausage was dryer than dirt with no flavor. My wife asked to substitute mash potatoes for veggies and they wouldn't do it. Then their desert menu had coffee drinks, I ordered one with Tia Maria and was told they didn't have any. If that wasn't enough you have to pay to park in there own lot. Dinner and wine for two $275.00 plus parking. The place is a rip off, don't go.
