Service was awful. The waiter knew little about the menu and everything he recommended was terrible. The drinks were watery and unexciting. The appetizers arrived cold. The desserts were terrible. Overall, 2 thumbs down!
Our server Abby was lovely and amazing. The food however was not. Chicken liver appetizer was over cooked and dry. She removed it from our bill. Our entree, the Mixed Grill, we waited well over an hour for it. The kitchen was apparently very backed up. The filet was cooked medium-well and I had requested medium rare. The chicken was dry. None of the food was very warm. Very disappointing experience considering I had driven from LA to Laguna Beach just to have dinner at Mozambique.
Always a great experience food wise, the service is always excellent. We had a group of 18 for a celebration and it was perfect.
I love to take friends to Mozambique for the beautiful view from the roof, the tasty food, and the good service. At 3 visits, I’ve not been disappointed.
This is an outstanding restaurant - great food and service.
Had a great time. Lobster special was to die for! Loved the local music they play in the bar each Wednesday. This week was a local band called Undecided Future. Hope they have them back soon. Super entertaining.
The server/bartender was amazing as well - Justin! Very attentive and on it!!!
We will be back.
I was very disappointed with this restaurant. I heard how great it was so I chose it for my Mothers Day lunch. ( I wish I hadn't) The service was SO bad it was embarrassing, we had to flag down the server every time we needed something. He would walk by, look at us and not even ask if we needed anything. We spent 3 hours here for 2 appetizers, 4 mains and 5 drinks. (Party of 4) and before anyone thinks that they were so busy on Mothers Day...guess again. There were SO many empty tables and a bunch of servers just standing around the front door. Chilis has better presentation of meals. Do not recommend and will not be returning.
Mothers day was great there.
The curry was crazy delicious!
Went for brunch at 11:00 but missed the live music that didn't start until 1:30 or so. Wish it had started earlier.
Absolutely love the experience! Great food, and a great view from the roof. We will be back!
A most delicious meal in a lovely atmosphere. We ate in the bar with its dark paneling, low light and a wonderful jazz duo with a terrific singer. I had the seafood curry which was loaded with seafood--scallops, shrimp, fish, lobster and served over rice. We also had vegetable samosas that were fresh and hot and crispy. Dessert was a white chocolate macadamia bread pudding with a cinnamon sauce. All in all a great meal!
We love this restaurant! It is pricey si we can only afford to go once a year for our birthdays. Great service and ambiance.
I love the feel of this place but the hostesses are rude. We had a reservation and they acted like we tried to just walk in. It felt like we were putting them out. The place is wonderful so I’m not sure why the owners would allow angry women to greet you
The roof top is picturesque. They have a lot of heaters. The food is Persian but there is plenty on the menu for those who don't want full on Persian. They're is a piano bar on the first floor which is dim and traditional.. lots of leather. Large bar. Great ambiance. The second floor has a stage and often live music. Overall a great venue.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere!
Sat in the second level beautiful view of sunset!
Went for the live band: Bostyx! David Victor Formally of Boston.
This place was great. The food and service were excellent. The rooftop area was small but nice. The restaurant was perfect with this inside/outside feel. There was a band playing on a Friday night but did not bother our conversation as far as noise level. Drinks were amazing! Have the Samoosas!! Will def be going back when I’m in the area!
Great venue to see your favorite bands! Small and the sound system is awesome! Went to see Robert Jon and the Wreck before they leave us for their European tour!!
Came ready to party with lots of wine that Roberto kept on top of!! Good help so hard to find!!!
Made a reservation for 10 and was a little bummed that hostess charged 2 of my late guests 5$ each! Didn’t want to deal with it then I was having to good of a time!!
Nothing special but service was good. To bad the food wasn't. Ordered the steak sandwich. Dry bun with a thin slice of meat and uninspiried sauce. Server couldn't tell me what cut of meat it was. Won't visit again.
I had made a reservation online and noted it was my friends birthday. I assumed something would be done to acknowledge the Birthday. However, nothing was done. The food and wine were very good.
Took my wife for her birthday. Service was amazing and the staff made a memorable night
This place used to be amazing. We went for a birthday celebration and were so disappointed with the food. Seems like something has changed over the past couple years, what a shame
Loved the view on the rooftop!
We love eating in the Durban Room, downstairs - a classic speakeasy steakhouse. Live piano music Thurs-Sun, but wish the music volume stayed 'dinner-low' through 10 pm. For our last dinner, around 8:30 or 9, the volume went up, and while the entertainment was first class, it was hard to talk over it at the dinner table, and we didn't go for a concert . . . just dinner with friends with great background.
I did mention birthday on the reservation but no one acknowledged it
Very good dining
Great space - our waitress was top notch! (tall blonde - Mercedes?)
We love the food and roof top deck. But get there early for a good seat and sunset views otherwise you’re stuck in the back or by the garbage.
Great views! Great Mimosas! Better views! My burger was a little dry but my date loved his prawns dish.
Reserved on open table a week before and they sat us in a horrible spot. Food was overpriced and not very tasty. Took forever for service. Won’t be back.
Easter Sunday brunch.
Mozambique needs to figure out what they want to be, a nice restaurant or a band venue. You have an open bar as the partition between the over-packed music venue and a dining area with booths, supposedly for quiet dinner. No one can hear anything, and service people are running around spilling and bumping every table on music week-ends. In the meantime, the bar is overflowed, so people stand around next to dinner tables waiting to order. In the band area, there's no room to even stand! NO ONE IS HAPPY HERE!!!
You're hosing big bands with big following. You don't even have a dance floor to accommodate 30 people. You don't have a bar designated for the venue, so your bartenders are confused & frustrated to fill orders from wait staff vs. venue goers.
You need to reconfigure!
WORST PART: I had a dinner reservation for 8:30, and the guy at the front WILL NOT ALLOW US IN UNLESS WE PAY $10 TO ENTER!!!!
We were greeted by a wonderful hostess. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. Loved that there was vegan options. Chilean sea bass was out of this world. Can’t wait to come back .
An awesome experience upon entrance to departure. Wonderful Sunday Brunch with the family!!!
Fantastic place for Dinner, Drinks and Dancing. 2nd Floor Bartenders are killin it. Great Job guys! We will definitely be back!
Josh our waiter was awesome! Great customer service skills, friendly, efficient, and a sweetheart. Prices were pretty steep. Our table was located in the Jazz Room and it was hard to communicate due to the noise level. The Peri Peri chicken was delicious and the chicken melted off the bone. The sides were average. My friend enjoyed her pasta dish. We headed up to listen to Family Style. I have seen them play before. Quality cover band, but the dance floor is tiny and wasn’t fun trying to dance.
Very pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. We can to see a band (The Babys) and decided to roll the dice in dinner. Very nice menu, very good wine selection, excellent service and a great atmosphere. We would come here again in a heartbeat.
bartender on roof Adrian was great, good drinks, nice demeanor. Got table in reasonable amount of time. But did not get menus when seated, waited nearly half hour before snagging busboy to find a waiter. waiter was fine once she arrived. food good as always. they need someone experienced and interested in clients managing the roof activity. The person present was only identifying tables but not helping the workflow. Also they need to manage the volume of people waiting downstairs, not upstairs. the great view is totally detracted from when someone is standing over your table talking on their cell phone and leaning on our chair. I seriously doubt the fire marshal would approve of people blocking the top of the stairs too. but if you have a lot of patience the view is killer, bartender and busboys work hard and waiters are competent once they know you are there.
I really enjoyed my boerewors and my wife’s peri peri chicken was spot on. As an appetizer I had the beef samosas which were made the way they are in Southern Africa which is a rarity to find here in the USA and they too were very good.
Service was slow and confused. Did not know who was our server.
Food was good but service was tooo slow. We waited for a napkin, a menu, drinks. Nice enough place but outside servers were not good.
We were seated on the rooftop. Excellent view. The food was good and the wait staff was attentive, though busy.
I will be back.
