Mozambique Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Came to hear jazz as advertised but no one played. Wine list was poor. Wife ordered rib eye rare and it was way over cooked. I ordered a combo plate....my steak was under cooked, the chicken was dry, the shrimp were raw and the sausage was dryer than dirt with no flavor. My wife asked to substitute mash potatoes for veggies and they wouldn't do it. Then their desert menu had coffee drinks, I ordered one with Tia Maria and was told they didn't have any. If that wasn't enough you have to pay to park in there own lot. Dinner and wine for two $275.00 plus parking. The place is a rip off, don't go.
I LOVE Mozambique!! The food is consistently good, the bands are always entertaining and Sean & Joe (Bartenders) ROCK!! This is my favorite place in town (and I'm a local and have been pretty much everywhere in Laguna)!
I try to always bring my out of town guests here and Mozambique never disappoints!
Thanks Ivan for providing an incredible venue here in town.
I LOVED the view, the staff was very courteous, but I was looking for a venue for a holiday party, and unfortunately, the menu was a little to "unique" where to satisfy several would be very difficult to do.
Private room seems very nice, so if you have an adventerous group, I would definitely recommend it. We are more meat and potatoes :)
We decided to try this restaurant because we got an email about a lobster special running through the month of November. This restaurant has 3 levels including an outdoor patio and bar on the 3rd level. This is where we sat. The ocean view was fabulous as we enjoyed the sunset. 3 of us ordered the lobster dinner and the 4th person ordered the chicken pops with the peri peri sauce. We all had the house salad. It came with a champagne vinegaret dressing which was so light we were not sure we had any dressing on the salad. The lobster tails were huge, but so tough and chewy we had to ask for steak knives to cut it. I had a few bites then gave up after getting a very fishy bite. My bf finished mine because he will eat anything. The rice and asparagus was tasty. My friend enjoyed her chicken pops, but the peri peri sauce was too spicy for me.
We didn’t have a good experience this time!No good service and was very slow! There was only one server attending for so many tables!I made reservations a week in advance and we were given a bad table!
More waiters needed at the patio area and on a busy night like sat night!Thank you
Food was very good!
I can't believe I've driven past this place a thousand times and never stopped, Since I've been working my through all
the restaurants in Laguna I finally got to Mozambique and boy do I feel dumb for not having starting here first.
The place is hard to describe because there is so much going on.
The ground floor is like an old school steak house, dark, beam ceilings, old school bar and the wonderful smell of
their fresh baked bread and a piano in the corner that’s used on weekends by some pretty good talent.
Second floor is all views of the ocean right across the street, lighter atmosphere, kinda seafood oriented with live music
in the back of the building which is well insulated from the front part so you don't get blasted while eating.
Top floor/roof is a 360° view for as far as the eye can see, with plenty of umbrellas for shade.
Their food is a little bit spicy but some of the best I've had in a long time, they have an amazing chef.
Their cocktails are to small and to weak, that is the only thing I would give them points off for, otherwise
this place Rocks !
My family and I went on a Saturday night for my birthday. We made reservations but got there early and we were able to get a table on the third floor. It was a beautiful view with the most delicious food and our server was great. Overall such a great experience! Would recommend for a special occasion or just a nice night out!
Food and table service was excellent. I only downgraded the experience because the valet parking has been and still is the worst in town as well as the most expensive. The service was very matter a fact and you feel like you are imposing on the to take your car. We couldn't even get the valet to bring our car when we were leaving. We took the keys and got our on car. So, in essence we paid $6 to park our own car. I should have parked on the street.
We went to the rooftop where we watched the sunset with drinks on hand. it was beautiful. The place was a little crowded but the server was attentive except that he kept on forgetting to bring us bread and water before the entree. we ordered the seafood tower which was disappointing: lobster had no taste at all, the crab legs were a little dry, shrimp and oyster were good but too pricey for what you get. However, the server suggested getting the lamb curry - that was awesome.
