    First, the online notifications leading up to our visit were informative and welcomed. The valet, Ivan, was courteous and professional. We came to see Mando Cardova perform and we were thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was perfect; not too loud and reasonable and the perfect sized crowd. The food was reasonably priced, sufficient in quality and quantity, downright delicious. The waiters, bartender(s) and food servers displayed impeccable customer service skills. We look forward to our next visit.

    We went to celebrate two birthdays and had a wonderful evening. All four of us ordered something different and we all agreed we would order the dish again. I had the Peri Peri Shrimp , delicious. They brought two great desserts for the birthday girls.

    My recent visit to Mozambique Restaurant left me with mixed feelings and a rather disappointing experience. While the restaurant has a reputation for its culinary delights, the way they handled our reservation was far from satisfactory. Upon arriving at the restaurant with a reservation made in advance, my wife and I were excited to sample the cuisine and enjoy a pleasant dining experience. However, our excitement quickly turned into frustration as we were informed that the restaurant had given away our table and that we would have to wait for an hour before being seated. This long wait left us feeling neglected and disheartened. It's understandable that restaurants can experience busy periods, but overbooking to the point of inconveniencing guests is inexcusable. We had made plans and arrangements based on our reservation time, and this unexpected delay disrupted our evening. While we finally did get seated after an hour, the overall experience was tainted by the initial wait. It's worth mentioning that the staff did not even try their best to make amends by offering us a better or quicker service. In conclusion, while the food and service were average and overpriced as well. P.S. They do not have enough space for handicapped access either.

    We sat on the rooftop area. It’s stunning around sunset. The food was excellent, had the Salmon & the sea bass, both were great, and filled us up! I knew from previous reviews that the service might be slow, it was, but why be in a hurry at such a great setting. So we had the right attitude going in & really enjoyed our dinner.

    We sat in the partially covered garden patio for dinner this time and had a great time. Wonderful waiter and delicious food & drinks. Convenient Valet helped as we were delayed by construction traffic on the 133 highway.

    We used a bday reward for $20 off of a $50 or more bill and went to happy hour and the cost was great for the experience. Grilled prawns and the pork chop are delicious and we liked the South American Rose wine a lot. We had a great front corner table and our server was ver good and nice. We will agin soon and have the same! Their bbq food is delicious!

    Amazing place overlooking Laguna Beach! The staff was fantastic and friendly, and very accommodating. The food was outstanding - highly recommend the Samosas, Peri-Peri chicken and the wedge salad. And upstairs on the patio if you can. Thank you for an excellent evening! 10 stars if I could!

    This was my second time going to this place and my experience was horrible. The waiters could not speak proper English so I had to repeat myself multiple times ordering food and asking for stuff. It was also a little bit chilly and i asked them to move the heater a little bit closer to us and I was told that cannot be done. I asked to be moved to a different table with heater close to me and I was told “No, we have people on the waitlist” !!!! Never going back!

    Typically one of our favorites. Tonight service was lacking. We had Pablo and the service put a damper on our meal. Typically Mozambique is one of our favorites but it will be awhile before we patronize again if at all.

    Beautiful place and amazing food. We will definitely be back again! We were bummed because we had a reservation and they sit you at the bottom rather than up top where there is a view of the water. Other than that, no complaints!

    This restaurant could get by on the view alone, but matches it with truly excellent food and an intriguing wine list that includes a substantial section of South African wines--I can vouch for the fantastic sparkling wine! The peri peri chicken appetizer was a particular standout, but we enjoyed everything we tried and can't wait to go back to check out some of the other dishes.

    We have always enjoyed dining at Mozambique and last night was terrific as usual. Pablo is an excellent server and was so personable, friendly and a professional. The seafood curry and portobello stack were delicious. We would definitely return again and highly recommend Mozambique!

    I took my fiancée out for her birthday dinner the other night and it was great! This is our first time trying out South African cuisine and it certainly didn’t disappoint! My fiancée had the Peri Peri chicken, while I had the Prego sandwich. My fiancée said that the chicken was really flavorful, with the Peri Peri sauce, it gave it a nice and savory zing! My Prego sandwich was basically a filet mignon sandwich with some grilled onions, arugula and some fresh South African herbs which was really tasty. The filet mignon was not too tender or too tough. They also included a bit of Peri Peri sauce to dip it in too! If you can do the rooftop dining area, do it because the view is gorgeous

    We won’t be coming back for a while. On the way in, we overheard a fight between a guest and the staff over what sounded like a waiter taking someone’s cash improperly. Then we go to check in and they say they have no 4 person tables available after we’d made a reservation prior. Then the service was slow all night. I will say the food was fine. Seemed like Mozambique was having some issues behind the scenes that leaking through to their guests. Hopefully they can recapture their former glory. We’ve had great experiences in the past.

    The waiter Juan looks like he was mad the entire time - not friendly, and not helpful on food choices. Needs a line more passion for what he does! We erre nice to him since we never know why he looked upset the entire time.

    I was excited to experience the restaurant. However, we waited over an hour and a half for our food. And the waitress spilled ranch sauce all over my grandsons brand new shorts. She was nice & did feel bad and tried to help him clean up. But I felt his meal should have been covered because of the incident or offer some sort of compensation. Trying to pay the bill was a nightmare . Our waitress clearly did not understand, dividing the gratuity and the tax and a couple of us were clearly over charged unfortunately. They have a 2 hour maximum for dinning however they took almost that long before we got our food and another hour to sort out the bill properly.

    Worst service. Subpar overcooked streak for $70. Undercooked mushy Seabass. And the most dismissive condescending service (Greg) I've ever had. Complete waste of a date night. You're better off going to the Taco Stand a little north on PCH.

    I had put that we were celebrating our anniversary. They did not make an attempt to give us a suitable table, and the calendar online is incorrect. We went for their 730pm live music and no music playing. Very disappointed overall.

    We got together with a party of eight, teenagers and adults. Everyone was very happy with their food, with the exception of one whose steak was a little overdone (medium instead of medium rare). It was a fun vibe, and we loved listening to the live music. We also headed down to the “speakeasy” on the way out. Cool piano player, very mellow vibe.

    I had the penne pasta, my husband had the shrimp scampi. Both were so-so and just barely warm. Starter was calamari, which was excellent and paired with sweet potato fries. I had a Caesar salad, crisp lettuce but uninspiring dressing and croutons. Drowning in shaved Parmesan cheese. He had a wedge salad, it was pretty good with Ranch dressing, minus blue cheese. Bread pudding was average. The restaurant is in pricey Laguna, but food not particularly impressive.

    Easy parking with valet. I was unprepared for a brunch menu, thinking it would be a full lunch menu, but happily surprised with the selection. Food great. Ambiance with music is incredible, as was the view from the rooftop. We ordered an appetizer salad and an entree. They all came out together, not as an appetizer, 30 plus minutes later. Waiter kind and can tell covered a large are and one assistant good with refilling beverage. Even with the food delay, I would say 5 out 5, but such a bad experience with a rude and snarky mouthed assistant, made me prompt the review

    Food this time around was not flavorful at all. We all ordered different dishes and we all agreed that food besides the burger was bland and needed flavor. I have been there in past and last couple times it has been a disappointment. Presentation however is perfect.

    Location of this place is great especially if you want to catch the sunset. I give this place 4 stars because the food was just okay. For the prices they are charging, I was expecting it to be really good food. Our waitress was absolutely amazing and the drinks were pretty good as well. I definitely wouldn’t come back here for dinner but I’d go back to catch the sunset and get a drink!
