Mozaic Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Valentines dinner. Waitress was very nice, we were surprised that they did not have a full bar. That got things off to a bad start since I’m not a wine drinker. Waitress said they also had beer. She did know much about what types they had. I settled on a bottled beer I never heard of It was better than all the IPA offerings they had.
The food came really quick after a long wait for my beer and wife’s sparkling wine. Food was good. Surf and turf presentation was nice, but skimpy. My Duck pasta was tasty and filling. Overall, food and wine offerings were overpriced and were not comparable to similar priced restaurants in the area with the Five Star ratings
This is my favorite restaurant in Sarasota. Everyone is always friendly. The service was wonderful - thanks Jeff!!! The food is always great. Have the crab cakes...the tomato bacon jam that comes with them is so good. And the mussels...wow. And these are the small plates!
Excellent food wirh good variety of complentary tastes and flavors on the plate. Often, an entree is pretty bare, but here the chef has curated the entree with appropriate and tasty sides. Even better than the last chef here who we thought was the best in town. We were wow'd.
Two friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Mozaic. Everything we had was delicious, and plated attractively. When we mentioned we were sharing a salad, it was split in the kitchen and presented beautifully. I will definitely eat here again for pre-theater or opera.
Unfortunately we did not have a positive experience with Mozaic. My husband ordered a duck fish with risotto which he enjoyed. My friend and I both ordered lemon pepper fettuccine with clams. Although the sauce was tasty, when we received our entrees, we both noticed that the pasta portion was very scant. When our server came to ask how we were doing I mentioned my disappointment with the portion. He immediately went to the kitchen, he stated that the chef “would stand by the way the dish was served??? In addition out of the 10 clams that were in the sauce , 5 did not open. For $24.00 this was not an entree. It was an appetizer size portion. So even though my husband and I live across the street we will not go back. We had no issue with the server. He was very professional
We have lived in Sarasota for five years. Our prior 2 meals at Mozaic were great. This one was disappointing. The food was not at prior levels. My wife and our friends both complained about the temperature (too cold)and the "under cooked" texture of their meal. I had the duck and noodles. There was hardly any duck or vegetables in the broth. It was all noodles. One of our friends had to ask for a replacement glass of wine since the first pour was "off". The service was OK but not at prior levels. This is not the first time we have experienced varying levels of quality over time and it did not impress our guests.
Mozaic is a fantastic restaurant with a wonderful menu. On one side of the menu booklet were the daily specials and on the other their standard items. With many fine choices we turned to our server, who by the way was excellent throughout the service, for advice. He suggest a duck confit noodle bowl which he sampled when given to him by the chef. It was a terrific suggestion and the meal was truly excellent.
I was visiting town and took a group of five of us to Mosaic for dinner on a Tuesday evening. The service was excellent - attentive wait staff and they could advise us as well on different menu items as well as the wine/beer. The food was good. I would have said excellent too but a couple of our party asked for their steaks medium rare and both came in as medium well. They didn't send them back so I can only assume they also enjoyed the food as I did. Downtown Sarasota has a few restaurants that aren't chains to choose from and we were definitely glad to have had the opportunity to enjoy Mosaic.
Not cozy, not good for special occasions there was nothing special about it, food was way over priced, service was shootie, food was not dependable - some things very good, most very bad. I ordered the scallops - they were good but cold; my husband ordered the skirt steak - it was stringy and tough and cold; my sister ordered the salmon - although it tasted fine it was also cold, all the food was on 1/2 of a large plate and the rest of the plate was empty - very poor presentation. My grandson ordered the surf and turf most expensive $39- it came on a tiny plate with 1/2 of a lobster tail, a tiny piece of overdone steak and they forgot to plate the crab cake - unbelievable! The bread was served by a someone who wasn't trained on how to use the utensils and had a hard time getting the too big rolls to each persons plate. The butter was so hard that it just crumbled when we tried to take some. The dessert menu wasn't interesting - mostly ice cream. The menu in general did not have very many choices.
The lighting was bad - and there was a cold breeze all the time.
When making the reservation - wasn't able to talk to anyone, could only make it thru their website or leave a message for them.
I have been a repeat customer many years....this visit was bad. Three people, three bad entrees. One diner had a filet, first one was full of gristle, sent back to kitchen, second filet full of gristle and practically raw. The other two diners had the hogfish special....served lukewarm, very small and mine was overcooked. The side vegetable had to be sent back, undercooked and braised as described on the menu. We spoke to the manager about an adjustment on the check....he seemed very lackadaisical but did deduct a round of wine and gave us a small gift certificate, for 3 people, to use on a future visit. I felt the entrees should have been removed from check, we were more than happy to pay for our wine. On top of the problems, both diners who had the hog fish were slightly nauseated the next day. Unacceptable for this restaurant.
Bad food. The fish of the day was not fresh nor tasty. Decided to returned back. No follow up from manager about it, just ignore the issue. Two other tables next to us also have issues with other food. Not a good night. Felt like we wasted an evening in this restaurant . This was our third visit . We used to enjoy the food there, but we found out they change the chief.
We dined with our freinds early on a Saturday so there was not a lot of business yet. Our server was very attentive but not overbearing. The food was excellent-my Cioppino (off the daily specials menu) was full of a variety of fresh shellfish and fish and had a delicious light tomato broth that I had to stop myself from picking up the bowl and slurping it up. My husband' s Ahi Tuna was equally delicious and plentiful as was the Pad Thai. The only negative we encountered was the portion size of the short ribs was quite small. A very nice dining experience overall. We definitely will return.
This was our first visit back to Mozaic for this winter season, and it was as good as I recalled. Each one of our mains was wonderful. I can't help commenting on my side, which was a grain, tiny veggies (broccoli / cauliflower / wild mushrooms / cheese). Our friend's accompaniment had chunks of lobster. Whee! We had no room for dessert as who wanted to leave anything on the plate.
Had 8:30 pm dinner reservations for NYEve..got seated at 8:50...Service was VERY slow. Took over 45 minutes to ask if we wanted any wine, we said yes, he came back and set an opened bottle of champagne on table, left and we never got any wine. At 11:30 , we were just getting dessert, so we took it to go, never got any more champagne, altho it was advertised as a second bottle.....While it was nice to enjoy a very leisurely meal, the wait service was basically non existent.
We were here for their special new year's eve menu and it was terrific. Chef Ash Tucker outdid himself with his artfully presented but very tasty dishes. Three of our friends are not very adventurous eaters, but they were enticed to go out of their comfort zone and loved it. Trust the chef and you will not be disappointed.
This was not a good experience. Despite a fantastic waiter who did everything he could to salvage our meal, we were extremely dissatisfied. Upon arriving we discovery a price fix menu on the table that was mostly seafood. My wife DOES NOT eat seafood. This special menu was not posted on the Open Table web site as were many other new Years Eve menus. Diners like my wife or vegans simply could not eat most of the items on the menu. The waiter did everything he could to satisfy us but there were limits. The food ( what we ate ) was fair...really nothing exceptional. This was a very unhappy experience that was totally unnecessary and was such a disappointment that we will not return to Mosaic.
The food was very good. The squash soup was excellent, the freshness of veggie spring rolls also excellent both entrees the Tuna and the Vegan Pad Thai very good. The service was also good.
I'd have scored this dinner higher but something about the ambiance didn't resonate. The ambiance felt rather quiet and formal. The food is plated very nicely but still the atmosphere just makes it hard to relax and enjoy a great meal which is what I expected from the menu a more upbeat and relaxed atmosphere. Nonetheless we'll be back for sure the food is well worth the trip.
