Excellent way to celebrate a friend's birthday. All details were considered and the selections and food was outstanding.
Getting pricey - Greek Salads with salmon for 2 with coffee came to $50 +.
Excellent food. The restaurant week menu was great! Especially the duck. Consistently good food and service.
Always top notch - great food and service. Business lunch, but great for any occasion.
Meal was undercooked
They were so accommodating! Food was great - salmon and short rib plates were amazing!
Per usual, Moxie was perfect. It was restaurant week and the options made it hard to choose. Excellent service from Joseph. We had theater tickets and he made sure we were not going to be rushing. Top notch.
We ordered the fish special (blackened bass) and the steak special (aged ribeye). The fish was good, but the steak was awful. For $59, I had high expectations. But it was chewy and VERY salty. Ordered a side of mashed potatoes. They were poisoned with salt. I guess the steak came from Red - the adjoining restaurant. It was really, really bad. This was my first bad experience at Moxie. Based on this meal, I understand why the place was less than half full at 7 p.m. on a Saturday night. Is this the beginning of the end for Moxie? I sure hope not.
For having a reservation we were seated by the door at a high top with people waiting to be seated standing right next to us. I asked to be moved to a booth and they obliged. They punched in the wrong order and when the food arrived the said they would fix it right away, my wife cleaned her plate before my steak arrived so she got to watch me eat my meal. To top it off my sparkling water glass was filled with tap. Overall the food was good but the service was absent minded and didn’t seem to care or was understaffed I don’t know but it wasn’t the best night out.
Too heavy on the salt. 8 tiny scallops were not
Worth the price.
Moxie never disappoints! I often crave the fattoush salad with their light and lemony dressing. The fish is always outstanding and I particularly enjoyed the tilefish special that was served with fingerling potatoes in a flavorful cream sauce. Lastly, the baked hot chocolate was a delicious birthday treat and wonderful alternative to a traditional slice of cake. The Instagram-worthy dessert was served in a mug and looked like a beautiful cappuccino!
I highly recommend Moxie for a special occasion or a nice dinner out.
Our dinner was delicious. Bread was served with an excellent herbed bean curd. Our cheese plate came with a wonderful chutney sauce that accented the cheese. Our entrees were prepared very well. Server was very nice and let us take our time. I recommend this restaurant.
The prices are 30% too high for this experience. Food was good, service was good, drinks were OK. But nothing was memorable. Definitely not worth 200 per couple.
You have to answer yes to one of two questions to try a new restaurant; is the menu compelling, and does it get good reviews. There's only one question to ask about a restaurant that you've been to; would you go back. With Moxie, the menu was decent enough and the reputation was such that we decided to finally give it a try. Unfortunately, we won't be going back. They have a noise issue with their HVAC system, at least we think that was the cause of the droning background sound. They then made the fatal mistake of trying to overcome that with music, and it's never a good idea to have a soundtrack that includes songs with vocals, as you have to have the volume up high enough to hear the singing or it's meaningless. Suffice it to say it's not a good place for dinner conversation unless you and your dining partners are all loud people. They also need to lose the paper covers they put over the white linen table cloths. While they may make it easier to turn tables and save in laundry, all they do is annoy their customers whose sleeves catch the paper edge every time they move their hands from their lap to eat or drink. It became so annoying we simply folded the edges over. As for the food; it was good but not great, and certainly not worth of the price point. The service was adequate. Overall, a disappointing experience.
Great food! Well priced and friendly. Would go back
Always a good experience with great food and service.
Great dinner. Our waitress was wonderful, and even brought our 2 year old’s dinner out with our appetizers so he didn’t have to wait. This was our second dinner here, and it was just as good this time.
A dress casual restaurant with competently good food. Everything was very tasty, and worth the price, but nothing stuck out especially. Very good cocktails, nice cheese plate, and the bean dip was excellent. Service attentive and fast, but not rushed. A good place to go for a nice meal.
Moxie consistently provides excellent choices, food and service. It is very reliable and a good place for lunch or dinner.
Good not great but overpriced.
Service for the price could be better.
Lunch menu looks fair.
We were there for dinner.
Over all we had a nice dinner. We haven’t been there for a while and it was nice to be back. We started with the calamari appetizer, and it was suppose to be breaded but since my husband is GF they offered to just sauté it. It was delicious.
Wish they offered some GF pasta, there’s so many good brands now that they could easily keep some in stock, but my husband had the cod which he loved. I had the vegetarian stew with lamb kabobs. Frankly I was underwhelmed by this dish. Too much fennel and just bla....
We ended with the best dessert in the city, their baked hot chocolate....that’s gf (minus the cookie which I gallantly ate myself) so the two of us shared....it’s a long time favorite and still just as deliciously I remembered it.
Will be back.
Excellent as usual!
Everything about the experience was very good. A great evening in all respects.
We had a great experience for lunch. I have never had a bad meal or service here! It’s a favorite!!
This particular outing, the restaurant was quite loud and difficult to hear the people speaking at my own able. The server was not vey professional. I would not have him serve me again.
We had an excellent meal, great friendly service and warm comfortable ambiance. We are return customers and try to frequent this neighborhood gem for dependable special occasions.
Excellent food and service. My husband got the mashed potatoes and filet and it was excellent. I got the fish special that night over risotto. Excellent dishes, would go back again. It's worth every penny. They also serve bread with their house bean dip with oil (hummus) and it was so good we had to take some home.
Lovely Birthday dinner with my husband and daughter. Tuesday evening on a winter night, the restaurant was quiet, which we had hoped for. The service was very attentive without being obtrusive. The menu included a selection of specialty cheeses as an appetizer. This was a good choice as all three of us could share the appetizer and we sampled some cheeses that we never had before. As a main course did I opt for the tuna, which was a generous portion and accompanied by a sticky rice side and spicy wasabi. Very delicious and nicely presented. My daughter had the burger which she loved, but was unable to finish due to its size, good value. The cocktails to start with were nice and the entire evening meal was flawless with really great service. We're looking forward to return soon.
Reservation was easy via Open Table. The restaurant was not very busy, but we had to wait for almost an hour for our orders. My wife's scallops were over done and the plating was unimaginative. My meal, walleye, was very good plated well.
We live about 5 - 10 minutes from the restaurant so it's quite convenient. However, the food and liquor are pricy.
Short rib and filet entrees did not disappoint but rapini and mushroom demi-glace too salty to eat!
Apple fritter had no evidence of apple in the dessert. Seemed like donut holes and ice-cream. Good though.
Great food and service for New year's Eve! The menu was limited for the evening but still offered great choices.
We have never been disappointed with the food or service.
Pleasant comfortable atmosphere! Great wine list! Excellent food choices. Great service!
Moxie never disappoints. Like the new menu. Service is always spot on.
This was my wife's birthday and we have experienced Moxie's wonderful experience and environment a few times in the past. Ryan our server was very good. Unfortunately it was an off night for the food. Calamari was okay at best and our entrees were less than expected. Unfortunate but my duck dish was unexpectedly tough and was removed from the bill without request. Never experienced chewy duck breast before especially when it was confit. Have to think long and hard about returning since there are so many other options in the city. Considering that this was my wife's 50th birthday celebration dinner, we were less than impressed. Sorry.
Good was disappointing it is usually pretty good.
I would try it again, hoping it is better
Always special and well done. Never a disappointment ! Service, Choices of food great. This is a regular place for me.
Very well done.
Restaurant very cold and 2 fish dishes over cooked
