I had the chicken club for lunch and it was less than stellar. It had no flavor whatsoever. The chicken breast was perfectly grilled but the aioli had no flavor, salt or tang. I could have made a far better sandwich with simple Hellman’s Mayonnaise. The cheese platter was great and I’m glad I had that to nosh on since my sandwich was subpar. Too bad!

This is a pleasant restaurant for a casual dinner. The food selection is very good IF you are not a vegetarian. There was only one choice for that group. It is good for a group of probably no more than four as the noise level was way up there. Our group of four asked to be moved from a booth to a table as otherwise we would not have been able to hear each other. The waitress was pleasant, helpful and attentive. We will definitely make a return visit.

The food was great until the dessert. Dessert just wasn't very good. we were told you can't go wrong with a chocolate chip cookie, honestly it was hard as a rock and nothing special. You can get a better cookie in the mall. But the appetizers and dinners were very good. The waiter disappeared on us a few times but overall the service was fine not outstanding.

As always the menu was filled with new and interesting choices. The food was great and the drinks were perfect. Service was friendly and attentive, just right actually. We love the atmosphere and the decor, as well as the menu options and the food of course. The acoustics are great. Even when the place is full and everyone is having a good time, it is easy to hear those at your table, and not hear others around you. Over the years this has become our go to place for special occasions and has never disappointed us.

Excellent food. We had the CAB ribeye which was excellent. Unfortunately the special 45 day age bone in was not offered to us. We overheard it offered to the next table after we started our meal. That definitely would have been our preference. How disappointing!

Service was slow. The salmon dish came sitting in a pool of a creamy liquid containing leeks. The gnocchi that was supposed to be part of the dish was almost nonexistent. I had a new order of gnocchi made for the side but my salmon was already cold and almost gone by now. My spouse was done with his meal when I received the gnocchi so I finished my meal at a later time. No efforts were made to buy us dessert or to adjust the bill. Very disappointing. It will be a while before we return for dinner.

From out of town here for the night, thought we would have a nice meal and quasi date night. We were seated for what felt like a long time before anyone came to serve us. Waiter offered suggestions and let us know that it was 1/2 off wine bottles. We ordered an appetizer (calamari—it was great) right away and waters while we decided on our wine. Waiter asked if we would like bread, we said yes. The table next to ours seemed to take a long time ordering, then, they got their drinks and appetizers while we sat without our wine or bread. Our water glasses were empty...the waiter came back and said, wait did you want bread? We said yes and also our wine. He returned with the wine and while he was pouring out glasses, another server delivered our dinner, it was so rushed. We hadn’t finished our wine when the waiter began asking about dessert and coffee. To top it off (it was 910 pm—our reservation was 730 and we didn’t have any water, etc until 750) one of the men from the next table asked us on his way out of we could lock up the place on our way out?!!

Disappointing on many levels. Food was fine. Nothing notable. Service was friendly but very rushed. We will never return here.

We ordered the fish special (blackened bass) and the steak special (aged ribeye). The fish was good, but the steak was awful. For $59, I had high expectations. But it was chewy and VERY salty. Ordered a side of mashed potatoes. They were poisoned with salt. I guess the steak came from Red - the adjoining restaurant. It was really, really bad. This was my first bad experience at Moxie. Based on this meal, I understand why the place was less than half full at 7 p.m. on a Saturday night. Is this the beginning of the end for Moxie? I sure hope not.

For having a reservation we were seated by the door at a high top with people waiting to be seated standing right next to us. I asked to be moved to a booth and they obliged. They punched in the wrong order and when the food arrived the said they would fix it right away, my wife cleaned her plate before my steak arrived so she got to watch me eat my meal. To top it off my sparkling water glass was filled with tap. Overall the food was good but the service was absent minded and didn’t seem to care or was understaffed I don’t know but it wasn’t the best night out.

Moxie never disappoints! I often crave the fattoush salad with their light and lemony dressing. The fish is always outstanding and I particularly enjoyed the tilefish special that was served with fingerling potatoes in a flavorful cream sauce. Lastly, the baked hot chocolate was a delicious birthday treat and wonderful alternative to a traditional slice of cake. The Instagram-worthy dessert was served in a mug and looked like a beautiful cappuccino!
I highly recommend Moxie for a special occasion or a nice dinner out.

Our dinner was delicious. Bread was served with an excellent herbed bean curd. Our cheese plate came with a wonderful chutney sauce that accented the cheese. Our entrees were prepared very well. Server was very nice and let us take our time. I recommend this restaurant.

You have to answer yes to one of two questions to try a new restaurant; is the menu compelling, and does it get good reviews. There's only one question to ask about a restaurant that you've been to; would you go back. With Moxie, the menu was decent enough and the reputation was such that we decided to finally give it a try. Unfortunately, we won't be going back. They have a noise issue with their HVAC system, at least we think that was the cause of the droning background sound. They then made the fatal mistake of trying to overcome that with music, and it's never a good idea to have a soundtrack that includes songs with vocals, as you have to have the volume up high enough to hear the singing or it's meaningless. Suffice it to say it's not a good place for dinner conversation unless you and your dining partners are all loud people. They also need to lose the paper covers they put over the white linen table cloths. While they may make it easier to turn tables and save in laundry, all they do is annoy their customers whose sleeves catch the paper edge every time they move their hands from their lap to eat or drink. It became so annoying we simply folded the edges over. As for the food; it was good but not great, and certainly not worth of the price point. The service was adequate. Overall, a disappointing experience.

A dress casual restaurant with competently good food. Everything was very tasty, and worth the price, but nothing stuck out especially. Very good cocktails, nice cheese plate, and the bean dip was excellent. Service attentive and fast, but not rushed. A good place to go for a nice meal.

Over all we had a nice dinner. We haven’t been there for a while and it was nice to be back. We started with the calamari appetizer, and it was suppose to be breaded but since my husband is GF they offered to just sauté it. It was delicious.
Wish they offered some GF pasta, there’s so many good brands now that they could easily keep some in stock, but my husband had the cod which he loved. I had the vegetarian stew with lamb kabobs. Frankly I was underwhelmed by this dish. Too much fennel and just bla....
We ended with the best dessert in the city, their baked hot chocolate....that’s gf (minus the cookie which I gallantly ate myself) so the two of us shared....it’s a long time favorite and still just as deliciously I remembered it.
Will be back.

Excellent food and service. My husband got the mashed potatoes and filet and it was excellent. I got the fish special that night over risotto. Excellent dishes, would go back again. It's worth every penny. They also serve bread with their house bean dip with oil (hummus) and it was so good we had to take some home.

Lovely Birthday dinner with my husband and daughter. Tuesday evening on a winter night, the restaurant was quiet, which we had hoped for. The service was very attentive without being obtrusive. The menu included a selection of specialty cheeses as an appetizer. This was a good choice as all three of us could share the appetizer and we sampled some cheeses that we never had before. As a main course did I opt for the tuna, which was a generous portion and accompanied by a sticky rice side and spicy wasabi. Very delicious and nicely presented. My daughter had the burger which she loved, but was unable to finish due to its size, good value. The cocktails to start with were nice and the entire evening meal was flawless with really great service. We're looking forward to return soon.
