Great food, great service, wonderful setting
Lack of service, first tim
Our first time. A good experience but I'll offer some constructive feedback from our party of four. We sat inside but if we'd known how great a dining patio they had we'd have sat outside; next time. Efficient server. Food was rushed out a bit after ordering to get us in front of a very large party. Food was very good, all around the table. Here's our most significant comment: The sides were touted by the server as being ideal to share, we ordered several. There were NO spoons or other serving utensils that came with each side. Always, but especially during cold and flu season why would you expect each dinner to use their own spoon or fork to serve themselves. We asked for spoons and got them. Such a simple thing to send out something from the get go with each side. This has happened at other even more pricey restaurants too. We don't get it. So solid service, excellent good and a pretty restaurant. We will return.
The food was good, nothing that we ordered was particularly outsatanding, but the value was outstanding!
The serving staff could use more training because the ice tea and water were not filled without asking. And knowledge of the menu was not strong.
Overall experience was very nice!
We had a wonderful dinner. Our server Jaquline was outstanding!
Went there for a birthday brunch, told them in advance but was not acknowledged. I know they do strawberries for birthdays but didn’t get that. Service was very slow. Took 20 minutes to get coffee and creamer was old. Ordered blood orange mimosa but got something else. It took another 20 minutes to get the right one. Food was ok, nothing special. Had burger and chorizo tacos. No manager around. There is a DJ, she was playing really nice music and it wasn’t loud. She’s the only good thing about the restaurant. I love the Phoenician but I don’t think I’ll go back for brunch. I’ll stick to the steakhouse and high tea. Very disappointed
The restaurant was understaffed, and the hotel was at full occupancy. The food was mediocre at best. When asking the bartender to make a virgin spicy cocktail, the waitress came back to inform us they were making a virgin Bloody Mary...so not the best bartender either.
Excellent food. Wonderful service. Creative menu. Loved the breakfast every day. Enjoyed my small plates dinner, especially the lamb tacos. Very fresh food. Very personal service.
Had a fabulous experience at the Mowry and Cotton celebrating my birthday with some friends. The food was amazing, ambiance was great and service was also very good. Will definitely be coming back soon!
Server literally brought 3 appetizers and entrees within 5 minutes of each other. Terrible experience.
We very much enjoyed the Patio Anniversary Brunch on our anniversary. Special treatment, great food and our server, Christine, was wonderful!
Competing music: pool v event
Entrees brought out cool
Tuna not seasoned and tasted bland.
Cocktails really good, bread and desert were delicious.
Very good and would definitely go back.
Awful service. Below average food. Overpriced. The Phoenician used to be a destination. Now, sadly it is past its prime.
An absolutely fabulous meal and a very attentive staff!!!! Great experience all around!!!! Can’t wait to return!!!!
We went to Mowry and Cotton during restaurant week to celebrate one of my niece's birthday. The place is beautiful and service was very good. We had the squash flatbread, chopped salad, salmon, steak, and desserts. All very tasty. Will come back for brunch sometime.
We went for the restaurant week special for girls night out and it was amazing! We had an excellent time and will definitely come back!
This was a restaurant week tryout and it was a very pleasant surprise! Great food and service!
The restaurant was wonderful! Food delicious! Ambiance great! The only problem was getting there. We got lost and finally had to ask someone the way.
The food menu was limited and flavor components were strange at best. Still, we decided to order many things to get a wide variety of sampling. Everything we ordered was dry, lacked complexity and balance of flavor, and was poorly produced. Brussel sprouts were served soggy in soy sauce, potatoes were super dry and had very small dry pieces of meat that were barely flavorful, lamb tacos were just stuffed with meat and nothing else and lacked good flavor. All in all we paid $130 for a very crappy experience. We will not be back.
We were there for the birthday celebration.
The only downside on that evening is we need to wait for menu to come after seated ( we were there quite early 5:45pm, so is not busy ) and the waiter not even bring the restaurant’s week menu for us . We got to ask for that menu. ( minus one star)
Overall, we love the food there. Excellent food! Service for dinner is good. We had great times there.
We will be back!
Went there for restaurant week fall 2018. Overall food was good. Less a star because my pheasant had broccoli which tasted and looked past expiration. My husband was able to substitute lamb loin for his steak which was nice.
Food mediocre at best. took forever to get the main course.
Here on vacation. Food and service was outstanding!
We enjoyed the ambiance and the food. We were disappointed that we were rushed through our dinner. We didn’t realize that the kitchen would be closing before 9:00 (closing time) and were pushed to order at 8:15.
The staff, from valet parking to doorman to guest services to waiters were very friendly and hospitable. They made you feel like they truly cared about you. The food was excellent also.
The space is beautiful, our server was very good. But the food was subpar. Even the cocktails were sub par. And the meal was not inexpensive. There are really GREAT restaurants on practically every single corner in Phoenix. If Mowry & Cotton hopes to compete, they are going to have to seriously up their game.
NICE RELAXING DINNER IN A BEAUTIFUL HOTEL
NO ONE RUSHING YOU THROUGH YOUR DINNER & TRYING TO PUSH DESERT ON YOU LIKE MANY OTHER RESTAURANTS DO
FOOD WAS VERY TASTY!!
Food was outstanding. Service was poor. We attended on a Saturday evening. It took almost 30 minutes to obtain a menu other than the cocktail and wine menu. When we asked for our bill at the end of the meeting, it took over twenty minutes to receive a bill. Overall meal took over two hours.
When we attended, we were seated on the patio. There was a children's party going on across the the property with a DJ that was very loud for the entire party. The DJ was far louder than needed and even the servers commented that they had been unable to have the pool staff turn down the volume.
Overall, it was a poor experience, despite outstanding food.
The first umpression: all wait staff dressed in good looking shirts and pants wearing leather aprons. The ambiente reminded me of a 1970 European style restaurant (a bit cold and noisy when it’s not full). But the service (the waiters, waitresses and bus personnel are marvelous) and the food make us come back another time.
A must for starters: the chicken wings
And don’t leave without sharing the donut dessert
Excellent meal and service.
There weren't many people in the restaurant yet the service was quite spotty, and we had to attract a waiter's attention more than once to get things taken care of.
What a sleeper. I expected a good hotel meal but this was a wow. Innovative menu, great recipes, terrific service and ...large portions. Only time I recall that i could not finish a steak. The steak was superb. Would go back anytime! Far exceeded expectations.
What a pleasant evening my friends and I had at Mowry and Cotton! Delicious food, ample serving sizes, and a relaxing environment. We were commenting on all the reasons we will return again as we drove home. The sea bass was heavenly!
I was highly anticipating my dining experience at Mowry and Cotton after reading some great reviews about the chef and the food. You can never go wrong at the Phoenician for a great view. The service was outstanding. For this alone I can recommend dining here.
The food however, was disappointing. We started with the artichoke flatbread. The texture was perfectly crisp, but the flavors were uninspired. We tried the green salad and the roasted cauliflower. Again the salad was average, but has fresh ingredients; so it was good, but not great. The cauliflower was roasted perfectly, nice and charred and firm to the bite. But again lacking in any "wow" flavor. The Chile peppers actually gave the dish the flavor pop it needed, but there were only two small slivers, leaving us wanting more flavor. Things took a much better turn with the entree. We had the whole bass which was served with flour tortillas and a cilantro cream sauce that was heavenly. The fish had a light, crispy coating and smoky roasted corn. I would definitely order this dish again and if you go, you should too. I cannot remember the exact name of the dessert, but it was 'smore themed and to die for! The dark chocolate melted under the fluffy toasted marshmallow top was sublime.
So mixed reviews from this diner. I always have very high expectations of the food at a resort that is the caliber of the Phoenician. The restaurant is in a gorgeous location, top notch service, food is good but not outstanding. The prices were reasonable for a Scottsdale resort.
The food was delicious, and my mocktail mojito had me feeling like I was on a beach in Mexico, but when I ordered a second one it never came. After 15 mins I was told the bar was busy, but that it would be right out. 10 mins later my check came and there was still no mojito, so we paid and left.
Pricey, confusing portion sizes & presentation of food, excellent service.
Casual but elegant
How in the world did the Phoenician get duped into letting this horrible - yes horrible restaurant onto the property? From the days of Mary Elaine’s to the fabulous brunches and amazing tea service with Natalie and Wanda. This new Mowry and Cotton is a disaster from the word go. Cannot even begin to tell you how bad the three course deal was and it was uneatable. Salad bitter - fruit dip had the viscosity of phlegm and you had to share with your table. The Pork was as dry as the Sonoran desert and the whole table sharing is really uncomfortable because of the plates and presentation. We never had such a below average or horrible experience as this New disaster. I will wait for the next restaurant that takes its place. Please make it worthy of the Phoenician!
