Movie and Dinner - At Northern Quest
Movies are optional at M&D. Our Brüt Gourmet menu boasts bold flavors made with fresh ingredients. Come by for lunch or dinner to check out the menu, or stop in for happy hour and enjoy a classic cocktail at our full-service bar. Our food is scratch cooked, affordable and delicious. Did we mention Kansas City BBQ?
Valentines dinner. We got there 10 min. before our reservation and we’re taken back right away. Table wasn’t clean and we said we’d just wait at the bar. We were told he’d come get us. 15 minutes later we hadn’t seen anyone so we walked back over. A different couple was at our table.
Another table was quickly found and we sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. Two more couples were sat.
They were immediately met by wait staff.
At this point 40 minutes had passed and our movie started in 15 minutes so we just got up and left to go to the bar. My girlfriend went to express our displeasure (kindly) to the front desk. They said, “ok”. Obviously not caring.
Trying to salvage something of our Valentines date we decided to order some food from the dark menu. You used to order from the theatre by pressing a button and the server comes to you but now the have tablet devices. We were told that they don’t always have great signals so we should just order while we were at the desk. So we punched it in on their device. Popcorn, sliders, and a hotdog. A far cry from the Prix Fixe menu we were expecting but better than nothing. We thought.
Sat down in the theatre and our popcorn was brought to us quickly. People sat down after us with their tablets. Ordered food and it was brought. We waited. And waited. And waited. I finally got up after 45 minutes and talked to them at the desk. They promised to send someone. Wait staff arrived a few minutes later the waiter apologized and said it must not have gone through. When I asked how they knew we ordered popcorn he just stared silently. So we again ordered our food. Within 10 minutes it was there. I really love the idea of this place but the execution is awful. We’ve had great experiences here but the bad are outweighing them. At first we put it down as new growing pains but now it’s just poor planning.
My steak was so undercooked it was mooing at me, you guys could have at least asked how we wanted our steak
Valentines day multicourse offering was a train wreck. Food quality was good, but they were out of many of the choices and everything came out late. Rolls and salad came right before dessert. Missed our movie due to all the shortcomings.
We did not enjoy our meal as it there were items on the "specific" menu that they had ran out of by 6 pm. The portions were the size for a child and we had to ask for our bread. Our main course came on one plate for two and we had to ask for another plate. I felt sorry for the staff as it was Valentines Day and they were less than prepared to accommodate the diners. We left hungry.
We had a reservation for 6 pm on Valentine's Day with a movie time of 8 pm. we arrived early and seemed to be some confusion as to our seating. Once seated we waited 25 min to get a diet soda and a coffee! We then ordered an appetizer and our meal. At 7 pm we were brought soup we did not order and told our food was on its way. At 7:35 pm we finally received our food!! Absolutley with out a doubt the worst service I have experienced especially on a Valentine date night. Cold Sirloin and burnt short rib Yummy!!!
Not!!! Extremely disappointing!!! We will probly never come back there for dinner, and won't hesitate to share our experience with others. It is really unfortunate as it seems like a great set up just obviously a complete lack of management and proper staff to pull it off. I'm sure Gordon Ramsey would have a hey day, complete with the proper amount of expletives for your staff. However the movie seats were comfortable and OUR movie selection was good.
Did the valentine's dinner. Think it was a bit to ambitious. Only thing edible was salad and polenta. Res was at 5:30 one of soups was out, took an hour to inform us. Oysters were full of shell. Scallops were overdone and fishy. Fillet was cooked on outside of half, rest was raw and cold. They did offer free drinks.
I have been to Movie and Dinner several times to watch a movie and enjoyed the "dark" menu. However, we tried to dine in the main restaurant seating area for a Valentine's Day special dinner. I made reservations for two at 5:30 and we were seated right away. Our server was very helpful walking us through the special menu designed for this particular evening which included 6 courses and 2 movie tickets (to be used at a later time if wanted). We also ordered drinks. We received our drinks within a few minutes after placing our dinner order. After 45 minutes, we hadn't received any other food items, not soup, salad, appetizers, etc. Another couple seated near us had plans to go to a movie that was starting shortly and had told us they waited 2 hours and had only received salads. We were told that another couple had also waited almost as long and hadn't received any part of their meal. We decided to cancel our order and also left to dine at another restaurant. I would not recommend attending a "special" dinner occasion until they get the kitchen/service figured out how to serve patrons in the movie theaters as well as the dining room.
It was the worst experience. Had reservations at 4:45. Waited for out food for an hour and a half. Still never came. Couple behind us got the wrong food and then they bring them out another plate. Finally had to just leave because the movie was starting. Very unorganized.
Unfortunately for us we decided to spend Valentines here. :( Very, very expensive dinner! The Weirdest customer service. Most of the staff looked like chickens with their heads cut off sadly. Like no one knew anything. The Food was so nasty for the price. :( Hard, rubbery lobster tail served with no lemon or butter. No sauce at all in fact. We were given a single slice of a lemon (literally a small, single slice!!) LOL for our oysters, and the tabasco sauce was given in a sauce cup (which I think is weird). OH AND Then our food was served on the same plate, like WTH? We had to separate what we ordered individually onto our own plates. It was Just extremely lazy on the chefs part, and shame on the manager running it. Letting The food go out like that. No proud in your kitchen?
As we headed to our movie we wanted to purchase a soda from the concession stand. Welp the Systems went down apparently, and we were told we couldn’t use cash. And we didn’t have a card at the time to use. The whole dinner & movie is an awesome idea, but OMG the walking around is RIDICULOUS!! We Could hardly focus on the movie with all the orders that were being filled throughout THE WHOLE MOVIE. Staff in every direction blocking the movie.. I swear every 5 mins or so. On top of it the staff had to come in During the movie and take some food orders. That was VERY distracting! The space in the theater is great, but the leveling is horrible. Maybe if it had been more inclined people wouldn’t have been SO much in the way. Way too flat for a movie theater. Needless to say WE WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER be coming here again. Our experience was not at all as we hoped for. I FEEL SO ROBBED OF MY MONEY.
And you know you’re robbing people. Things need to change
We ate in the outer restaurant since the Dark Menu is very limited and mostly deep fried or the usual movie snacks. When it came time to order at 5:00 pm, they were already out of the grilled salmon which was the only item on the menu I wanted. I was surprised they had run out so soon but ordered a steak which was not very tender and had probably not been aged long enough. My brother-in-law had the KC bbq platter and the ribs were tough and difficult to cut through. The drinks were actually wonderful.
WRT the movie it was awesome and our seats were great but it was difficult to plan this evening since we were not sure the movie we wanted to watch was playing until 3days prior to the outing.
We will try the M&D again...probably just working through the challenges of a new business.
This is a fun way to watch a movie. It was our first time to experience it. I think next time we will simply eat something fun during the movie instead of eating in the restaurant.
Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Good food but not much of a choice.
We enjoyed M&D. I feel you should receive your food first and then go into the movie. This would limit interruptions. We love that there was not tons of previews. Food needs improvement (more choices) Overall good night out...
We have already recommended it to family and friends. We went on Labor Day so crowd was small which was nice. I love the ambiance of the whole place. Prices were inline for sure.
I would not recommend the dinner at the theatre; we were seated at 7pm, there was no one else in the restaurant eating yet they were out of menu items? The BBQ platter was ordered then the waitress came back stating they were out of brisket and ribs; so we both ordered the lobster roll which tasted like it had salmon mixed with the Lobster pieces; fries were good and the bread the roll came on was fabulous but overall, not a great experience. Drinks were great. Movie excellent.
The food was extremely expensive and not very good. We don't mind paying for good food, but our bill for 2 (one was just a shrimp Cesar salad) was $74, and the food was mediocre at best. The shrimp in the salad was overcooked and rubbery; the salmon entree was overcooked and dry, and the seasonal vegetables were overcooked and mushy. The $74 did include an appetizer, but, believe me, none it was worth the money we spent. That being said, the service was good and all employees were VERY nice and polite. The movie theater was clean and pleasant. Bring your prices down, or bring up your food standards.
reclining chairs not nearly as comfortable as Regal theaters. Food was very over priced for quality. The sliders were good, as were the onion rings. The Ceaser salad & shrimp cocktail were terrible. Shrimp were small & mealy. Salad dressing was awful, & it was just lettuce, & crutons with dressing on the side. Felt like a complete rip off.
Food was terrible, slow service, even though we purchased our movie tickets on line 2 days before, our seats were already taken. We were told by staff that is a pretty common and has been going on for months.
We reserved a dinner table but did not eat in the restaurant. I was expecting American Cuisine- my kids are burger kids and found nothing on the menu to their liking. Awesome movie snacks though.
When we arrived for our dinner reservation the first thing I was asked is if I had the email that they sent me and if they could see it. I found that very odd, especially when they "verified" it by looking it up in their system. We were 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant prior to the movie. We had to hail someone down to get drink refills as our server never checked on us. My food order was wrong so they had to remake it. My husband was done eating before I got my meal, no offer to discount or comp the meal. Thought the prices were high for the quality and service.
Movie and service in the theater was good.
already sent in a review of how my experience was very poor
The servers constantly walking through the theatre to serve people from their seats was annoying because they walked in front of the screen. Also the restaurant I had to make reservations for and couldn't see a menu until I got there. The place was small and there wasn't a big selection on their menu for diners. They had mostly middle eastern food dishes most of which I couldn't even say.
We have tried to go twice now to use a gift card we received Christmas. None of the staff has any idea what they’re doing and seem confused about everything, including reservations. Food is expensive and some par. We will not return
This is probably the best and easiest date night with the hubby. They actually bring you food, drink and snacks to your reclining chair while watching the movie. Loved it!!
This was a great place to go on a date. The food was great and it was so nice to be able to go to see a movie without leaving the building. You can even have a drink if you want.
The movie experience was good; however, the dining experience was very disappointing. The food we ordered was not good and was very pricey for what we got. My husband ordered the fish and chips - for $18 he got three smallish sized pieces of battered fish (the batter was practically tasteless) and a plate full of fries. I ordered the half-rack of ribs - the ribs were overcooked and very dry. They had a blackened rub on them that I tried to cut off because it was so dry and spicey, which left me with very little meat. A side of mac & cheese was good enough, but the price of my dinner was $16. Waaay to much for a few overcooked ribs that left me with very little meat! Most items on the menu were overpriced except for concession foods - good prices on those!
We waited 10-15 minutes before a server came over and we had to flag one down to get their attention. Ordered dinner and they were out of the chicken I ordered. Ordered a huckleberry mule and they said it was huckleberry and it wasn’t .
Our service from Richard was great and are waitress for dinner was great too
My boyfriend and I went on a date there on Valentine's Day night. We had a 7:30 reservation. The place was packed. We waited 2 HOURS for our food to arrive, but an hour after we placed our orders, I had to order something else from the menu TWICE because they were running out of food (including their Valentine's Day special). Once our food arrived, it was pretty tasty. The pizza was very good and so was the pulled pork, but the rib tips were very dry. On the plus side, kudos to the waiter who was working so hard to make everything right (like offering us free sodas and comping our meals). Overall, I would either go on a less busy day or save your money and eat someplace else. I really hope they fix these ongoing issues soon because if they don't, as harsh as it sounds, this place is going to close in a few short months.
The food and presentation of the food was wonderful. Service was not great. Very pleasant server just could use some coaching on better service.
Great place! New date night spot for sure!
The Valentine's dinner was Absolutely amazing. My wife and I loved it, and we will definitely be coming back again. And will also tell everyone they need to go experience the amazing environment.
our first time took my wife and another couple. it's was great the food was really good [ dark menu ] we had a pizza, chicken sandwich, chicken strips and pork sliders nice big chairs, easy process to do don't be afraid if i/we can do it you can too. go to movie and a dinner you wont regret it!!!!
Horrible experience!!! Got a gift card for Christmas and still haven’t been able to use it. The website has the option of using your gift card but once you get in there it won’t let you do it. Finally got on the phone and called. Christina answered and was not helpful at all! She said she thought that was fixed but apparently not and said she would hold the tickets for me. We went over twice that I wanted to see the movie mule and have seats D4 and D5. I also made a reservation for dinner. We got there and she had saved tickets for the wrong movie and the one we wanted to see was sold out. We were not given an apologize or offered any sort of compensation. I now have a gift card that I will never use because I will never go back they were so rude !
Dinner before movie
Great atmosphere, extremely comfortable theater seats, friendly service, and decent value for a theater.
Overall a great experience, and I will be back. I will, however, arrive earlier than the movie showing in order to sit in the restaurant so that I can order off of the restaurant menu for dinner, as I found that I would enjoy items from that menu more than the "Dark" menu. The "Dark" menu was still good, but offered things that are more like handhelds. Also, please allow the option to reserve movie tickets online using gift cards, as I found that to be a bit of an inconvenience.
