The tapas were excellent, varied and great for sharing. We had a party of 5 and ordered seafood paella plus cheese/charcuterie plate and 3 tapas. Overall excellent but felt the paella was skimpy on the seafood
Our first venture into Spanish quisine and real tapas and it was very worthwhile. The flavors were mostly vibrant - spicy but not a lot of heat. Early dishes we really liked included the tomato bread, the sliced pork tosti, the pork empanatas , the shrimp and the scllops. Ireally enjoyed my bigger plate, a lamb shank, oh so tender, with a delightful tomato sauce. No room for desserts.
For our first time and in a large group, we were able to try several of the items on the menu. Our server did an excellent job at honestly setting appropriate expectations for each dish, which was especially important for the paellas. They were a flavorful filler among our other tapas, but we were slightly underwhelmed by the amount of meat in them. The cocktails and literally everything else was great! We will probably be back to enjoy the unlimited tapas at some point. So good!
Movida was a win! Food was exceptional and cocktails were fabulous with beautiful presentation. Bar service was a little slow but our waiter Calvin was great! Would definitely go again!
We liked the vibe at Movado, and our waiter, Calvin, was outstanding. We liked its quirkiness & ambiance. We loved the fact that it wasn't so loud that we couldn't have nice conversation across the table, and we didn't feel like we were packed in like sardines. As is pretty common, we felt that the prices of the plates / meals / drinks were a bit excessive for what they were.
Not the same menu. Food was not good and overpriced
A fun and worthwhile dining experience.
Extremely Delicious, fresh tapas with beautiful presentation. Wonderful attentive service. You must try the homemade sangria, it was the perfect compliment for the meal. Patatas bravas, garlic prawns and empanadillas were our favorites.
Enjoyed every minute. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing, yet refined. The food was amazing and the sangria is delicious!
Food was awful and extremely overpriced. We spent $100 and let hungry. Had to get a real dinner at another restaurant. I sure wish I had that money back. Makes me feel terrible.
The food was tasty, but extremely overpriced. I’ve eaten at many tapas style restaurants, but never have I seen such small portions. Even though the service was excellent, I will not be going back. There are just too many other tapas restaurants in Milwaukee where the food is even more tasty for a lot less money.
This was our first time. We enjoyed all the tapas. I highly recommend the scallops, and both “Tostas”. Good selection of Spanish wines.
Taylor was an absolutely amazing waitress. She works open to close most days and I cannot wait to go back and request her again. I highly recommend the scallops in romesco sauce as well as the gin and tonics. The duck was also delicious. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in Milwaukee.
First time visitor. Wonderful ambiance. First time ordering Paella.....wonderful. Exceptional service. Very nice date.
The menu seems to have changed; paired down quite a bit. Service was lacking a bit from previous experiences.
A fun night with 3 other couples. Food was terrific!
I appreciated the restaurant finding 6 spots for us when my reservation change from 4 to 6 didn't save in the Open Table system. However, this required us to sit it the almost unfinished looking (exposed wires) upstairs area where it was loud and not conducive to conversation. Not the relaxing and elegant experience we were hoping for with our daughter's future in laws. Food portions weren't a great value for the price. Menu seemed reduced since our last visit about three months ago. Didn't appreciate the chef choosing make up of boards. Just kind of all around disappointing experience for repeat customers.
Loved the location, the space and the atmosphere, and the staff was terrific and very accommodating. The food was a great representation of many of the dishes you would find in Spain (sangria, paella, squid ink pasta, spanish omelette) but if you were to travel to Spain and order the same dishes, they would not taste the same, so don't decide if you like Spanish cuisine based on this experience! But until you can visit Spain, Movida is very fun, the dishes are playful and tasty, the chef's take is inventive, but for the record, you will NEVER find cinnamon in sangria in Spain!
Was amazing! The waitress knew exactly what she was saying and was really able to explain everything to us in great detail.
We had a great experience at Movida celebrating a 21st birthday with great sangria and local beers. Between five of us we tried nearly all of the appetizers, tapas, and desserts. Delicious and authentic was our group’s impression (and one of us spent spring break at the north coast of Spain two weeks ago). The music was awesome, our server was great. Made for a very nice evening.
Me and my friend went to Milwaukee for a weekend getaway, and impressed by Movida's food. Love their seafood paella!! Our server was pretty nice too. Would definitely recommend to people who wants some authentic spanish food.
They accomodated an extra diner which was great.
Yummy as always and our server was fun and helpful. The churros and paella remain our favorites!
Everything was great. We really liked the ambience/decor, and he staff were all wonderful. We'll be back.
Everything was wonderful! It does get a bit loud when it’s full, but in a small space, that’s to be expected. The Movida Paella was fantastic. Service was excellent and attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely be back.
Everything about this place was just “eh” for me. One, the ambiance - it has a weird “musty” smell that is hard to ignore and the tables are literally on top of each other. You feel like you’re on a date with the table next to you. Second, it took about 15 minutes for our waitress to even acknowledge us, despite the restaurant only being half full. Third, the food runners were constantly confused about what table the food belonged at, resulting in us having to re-explain what we ordered multiple times (and we heard neighboring tables having to do the same). Fourth, food came out really slow, and our waitress rarely came back to table to check in on drinks. Our final course (a crostini) took exceptionally long to come out ( so long that we would have rather just paid our check and leave, but couldn’t find our waitress) and we got a half hearted apology, and it still ended up on our bill. Fifth, the food was also not that great - small portion sizes, boring flavors, high prices. There was just nothing that wowed me about this place - not the ambiance, food, or the service - so I will be hard pressed to come back.
Service was wonderful and helpful with all questions. Loved the music but could have turned it down just a tad. Just what a great experience..
If it is your first time at this restaurant, try the unlimited tapas - just make sure to request additional ones, otherwise; you will leave wanting more than what you paid for. Our waitress never asked us if we wanted to repeat any of the tapas we liked.
This is easily my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee, and I am always looking for an excuse to go back.
Enjoyed tapas here on a Sunday afternoon. Especially enjoyed the cheese & charcuterie plate. Also had the scallops, pork cheeks, and tosta de espana. All were tasty. Nice atmosphere.
We've been to Movida several times so were a bit disappointed with the service and the food. The wrong bottle of wine was delivered to the table. There seemed to be some confusion in the wait staff as to which table ordered what food.
The 5 cheese plate was good but it only contained 2 crackers for a table of 4 requiring that we ask for additional crackers that were delivered after we had finished the cheese plate. Generally to food was definitely not as good as in the past.
I am from Spain and i can say the food wasn't 100% Spanish. Poor quantity and quality for a expensive price
I don’t know why a Spanish tapas restaurant would update a menu and take off 50% of the selection of tapas?
There is 0 red meat on the new menu now.
I have been to this restaurant 10-15 times and while the food is good I think it’s a bad call to make the tapas menu down to only 10-12 options. Bring back red meet items!
Great for date nights
The food was excellent. The unlimited Tapas was a very good value and perfect for trying new things. Everything tasted amazing and I would highly recommend this establishment. The ambiance was perfect, I felt like I was whisked away to a little European cafe in the middle of Milwaukee, WI and the staff was very attentive. Overall a very good experience and I will definitely be back next time I am in town.
Just awful. Food was average. Took forever to get it. Just excuse after excuse of how slow it was taking to get the food out. A mixed green salad took 30 mins. Apology after apology but did they Comp anything? A drink? Maybe a dessert after acknowledging their failures? Nope. Nothing. Avoid this disaster at all costs
The restaurant is a good looking place. All the hard surfaces increase the noise level which makes it difficult to carry a conversation. The food, from my perspective, was hit and miss and the bottle of wine delicious. Salad was small for the advertised two people but good. The pork cheeks were very salty but exceedingly tasty and would recommend it. We also ordered a paella. It was supposed to take 40 minutes but surprisingly it came out before the pork cheeks. Unfortunately, the flavor was lacking. It was heavy on the saffron and little else. The rice was under cooked in portions and burnt in others. It was pretty disappointing. We rounded out the dinner with some exceedingly rich flourless chocolate cake. All in all, it was just good for us.
Marvelous food and ambiance! The paella valenciana is incredible!
Lucy was wonderful - very attentive. Great ambiance. Delicious bites! Can’t wait to come back!
We started off our meal with some sangria which was fabulous. Then we shared the paella and found it to be very authentic and delicious. Three of us shared the dish and had plenty left over. Music and ambiance was cozy and made me reminisce about my time spent abroad. Can't wait to go back!
