We were very appreciative of the social distancing in a spacious patio with heaters available (although not needed). The serving staff wore masks. The menu was more limited than usual but I actually preferred the smaller serving sizes of paella since my husband doesn’t care for seafood and that is the one I prefer. I hope that serving size continues to be a permanent option. The sangria was flavorful and not sweet. The COVID protection charge was justifiable but a tad high at 18% - I think 10 - 12% would have felt reasonable.
Food was quick and good. They were out of the main item we wanted. Which was ok we just picked another. However, We didn’t have the best server experience. Walked past our empty drink glasses at least three times and never gave us the time of day or asked if we wanted another. We never got one and just went elsewhere.
Wonderful post quarantine night out. We ordered carry out and couldn’t wait to dine on the patio. Food and service were both fabulous. Can’t wait to return again this summer!
The food was god AWFUL. Not sure if it’s due to covid or operating out of hotel Madrid or .....? But it was atrocious. Spent over $100 and I would have rather had McDonald’s Or anything. Worst food I have ever eaten out at a restaurant. The WORST! I have never written a review but this was so awful everyone will know
The food was not bad, but not spectacular. Patatas bravas, though, are the best in Milwaukee and the white sangria is lovely!
We laughed when we saw that the gratuity was included because we had been commenting on the lackluster service. Overall: I would go back just for the patatas and the empinadas (though they had a different name on the menu) and that delicious white sangria!
We were warmly greeted as we entered, sat quickly and the service was fantastic! The food was delicious. A great evening.
Very nice night out for the two of us. Patio seating is wonderful!
Nice food selection available - however many dishes lacked flavor. The restaurant was very nice to give us one free tapas dish because we were celebrating a birthday. Great upbeat music selections. Very nice ambience.
Incredible patio, tapas, sangria and service. The menu is rangey and delicious
The patio at HM was nicely spread out to adhere to social distancing guidelines. The music was fun, and the drinks were great as always. Currently Movida has a limited menu on the patio with all of their popular items. The personal paella’s are a great value for their size!
This was our first visit since their re-opening from the COVID quarantine. It was nice to be out again, but our experience was not up to the standards that we have come to expect from Movida and Hotel Madrid. The food was inconsistently seasoned and the flavors just weren't up to their normal standards. The cocktails were ok, but the bar selection was limited. Hope that they will be able to regain their pre-COVID quality. Until then, I wouldn't recommend going back.
Spacing is very good and food is just as good as expected as from Movida. No $5 sangria Sundays but that's understandable!
Everything was perfect from beginning to end!! We are already dreaming of our next visit!
Paella mariscos was disappointing. Only 3 shrimp and no other seafood, mostly rice and peas. Also missed having it served in the metal pan. Understand some changes were needed due to COVID protocols but this dish was not worth $17.95. All of our tapas were very tasty though.
I was real pleased with the food and service. Ill return given how good it was.
It’s a very cool space , but we were sat at a table in the back where I could see into a staff area. Servers were sitting on milk crates and either on their phone or eating. The food was decent, but I felt it was a bit overpriced. Our server was nice and attentive.
The food is rather unique and the setting is great. Monday's half price menu (including mixed drinks) is a fantastic bargain!
Excellent as usual.
Would be nice to change the menu a bit and include some soups
The food, service, and overall experience was exceptional. Not only would I recommend the restaurant to a friend, but I have recommended it to friends
Delicious food. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. Friendly service.
Everything was good except the octopus-legit 3 little pieces of octopus and the rest was accoutrements.
Great all across the board. Would highly recommend
Price was too high for the quality of food served.
The food was ok, the waitress was nice. It just seemed really really dark. I’m all for having a nice dimly lit romantic atmosphere but I think it’s just a little too much.
The food and general ambiance are great. It’s a limited drink menu, which may be a detractor for some. They do have a variety of interesting and tasty craft cocktails. I’ve been here twice and tried many different menu items, not a bad one in the bunch. Delicious food, well presented. My one complaint is some of the seating - if you are a party of two you will often be seated literally right next to other tables, we are talking inches between you. This is not conducive to any sort of private conversation with your dinner companion. There are a few tables against the wall which are fine, but I am not a fan of basically dining with other parties unintentionally and it will influence my plans of how & when to visit in the future.
Good Food, small tables are close together. Other than that very fast service with good food and atmosphere.
First time we visited we loved this place. Second time wasn't quite as wonderful. Our server was very inattentive which ultimately meant that we left hungry. Love the ambience, the sangria and the food. However, we had to scrape the paella out of the pan and it was definitely lacking the add ins that we paid $45 for. Not sure that we would order the paella again. So while a disappointing experience this time, we will still try again. Hopefully it was just an off night.
Wonderful food and good ambiance. Tapas was decently portioned and very tasteful. Will definitely come back again!
Good service, and the food was tasty. Wish the portion was bigger for the price paying. Overall a great experience :)
Perfect service from the host stand until receiving the bill from the most enthusiastic server! Sangria + Tapas were outstanding.
The place had a great atmosphere and energy. The food was great! The empanadas ❤️I recommend as well as the sangria!
Dined with a friend at Movida on Saturday. Had a delightful experience. The restaurant was crowed and the tables are close together, but the atmosphere is fun and energetic. We decided to stick with the tapas. There were so many choices that looked fantastic. We sampled more than we should! One other reviewer recommended ordering just a couple at a time and we found that worked really well, so we could control the pace. Everything came out fairly quickly after ordering. The Jamon Serrano Croquettas were absolutely fabulous...crunchy on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. Those were definitely one of our favorites. The Butternut Squash Empanadillas were also great...perfectly seasoned filling and beautiful light pastry! Really enjoyed the Albondigas as well. Several mini meatball that were so soft and flavorful in a delicious sauce. Lots of great choices available. We will definitely return.
Goat Cheese Tapas plate was fantastic. All the staff was friendly/helpful and provided useful feedback
My partner and I sat at the bar and very much enjoyed to food choices, including Happy Hour prices. The wine was also good, but would have preferred a better beer selection--not what Spain is noted for, however. Service was a bit slow, but the bartender was busy preparing drinks for the tables, so that's understandable. Overall, a pleasant experience and would definitely return.
One of my favorite places in milwaukee.. always has a great atmosphere. Great cocktails and recommend the unlimited tapas. Juan Pablo is the best waiter and made our experience excellent.
The food was delicious. I also enjoy the atmosphere. All in all it was a great experience.
The Unlimited Tapas option is the way to go! Great food
The drinks were great and the tapas wonderful. We had a large group so were able to try most of the tapas. The desserts were super yummy as well.
3rd visit and as good as ever. Literally have had every thing on the menu over 3 visits and nothing is bad. Favorites are the Octopus with Sweet Potatos and Brussels Sprouts, shishito peppers, Flank Steak and Lomo, but the others are really good also. Paella we have had the Seafood 2x and Movida 1x and really good. For the $ woudl like a little more rice with it to fill it out, but glad the protein is so prominent. Stay for the Churros... they are really amazing
Movida is always a "happening" place, which is a big part of its popularity. Food was solid, but nothing earth-shattering. My biggest complaint of this visit is that NONE of the small plate dishes included a serving spoon or other serving utensil. And, the flank steak was not served with a knife! We were a group of four fairly close individuals, so we might normally have just used our forks to dish out the small plates. But, a couple of us had been sick, so we did not want to do that this time. I think many people wouldn't want to use their soiled forks (only forks provided in rolled-up napkins) during cold and flu season to dish out the small plates. I understand the desire to cut down on dirty cutlery, but I think a serving utensils is required with almost any dish. Even though the flank steak was cut into pieces, they were not bite-sized and needed to be cut further into smaller pieces. We had a nice evening at Movida, but I thought I'd point this one oversight out because I think management should consider addressing it.
