moto-i Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely fabulous!! I am already trying to figure out when I can get back to Moto-i so I can try some other menu items. Everyone in our party loved their food and drinks. The service was fabulous too, and sever was very knowledgeable about all menu items and helped some in our party decide what to get for their first time eating Japanese. I recommend their fruitier Sake. So delicious!!
Our Korean children along with myself and my wife, having visited both
Korea and Japan, have frequented many of metro establishments for Ramon. Our Ramon meals fell short of their places we've tried, mostly in the flavoring of the broth.
The Duck Ramon I had, was good, but I was surprised by the spicyness and the different type of noodles, that I've come accustomed to in my Ramon.
The staff was excellent, always someone stopping by to check on us or refelling beverages and taking away plates. Had at least 4-5 different people, stop by our table. The Malbec wine I had was excellent, and the "Moto Mule" that was mistakenly brought to our table, looked excellent as well. Made me wish I hadn't pointed out the mistake, and had simply drank it.
People watching was excellent, everyone looked like they were having fun. The drawings on the chalk boards, looked like they could have benifited from being replaced by the animae characters that my daughter creates.
We went to Moto-i for a birthday celebration. We enjoyed our appetizers including the rangoon, pickle plate, and tempura shrimp. (Though I would have loved tempura veggies along with it as well.) We really liked the small, soft bun options and will probably go back for brunch and order the beni one again and try their house Bloody Mary. The beni was the Japanese version of eggs Benedict and our favorite. The BBQ pork-rice dish with chili sauce (can't remember the name) and the drunken noodles were are favorite entrees. Yes we will go back but probably not on a Sat. eve. as the parking was tough.
Enjoyed the food! I ordered the buns and the ramen. Wish the buns were a little warmer they were slightly cold. They had a good variety on the menu with some vegetarian options that I was able to eat. Server was great and attentive. Slightly pricey though. Would return!
I had heard raving praise about this restaurant so maybe my expectations were too high. The appetizers and small plates were very good but main dishes were just average. The dishes which were described by menu and server as spicy (which we desired) were minimally so. The noodle dishes also seem very salty. With all the options for Asian food in UpTown, we will probably try a different one.
Absolutely loved this place. Devin was an excellent server, taking time to explain the many different dishes and sakes. The food was excellent. Not a high classy environment, but if you’re looking for way above average cuisine without the $$$$ sign, this is a knock out.
Very good raman, excellent sake and very good service. We opted to eat on the rooftop patio enjoying a hot summer night in September -good choice. Food and service were very good, a little slow, but was quite busy. The raman was excellent and so was the sake. Will go back.
We went because they had okonomiyaki on the menu and my nephew, who was based in Japan for a couple of years, hasn't been able to find any in San Diego. This is a great place that does what I'll call Japanese tapas. lots of small plates and we tried just about all of them and they were great (including the okonomiyaki). They also brew their own sake right on the premises. I'm not a sake drinker, but those in the group who are said it was great, both the hot and the cold. Service was quick and friendly (shout out to Mattie) and we had a blast. We will definitely be going back.
As someone who deeply appreciates sake and Japanese cuisine I was overjoyed to hear about this sake brewpub! This is a gem and as far as I know the only sake brewpub in the US. The people of the US are just starting to wake up to the delicious flavorscape and depth of sake. This is the best way to try fresh pressed sake and Nama (unpasteurized) sake. The sake is as fresh as it comes and bursting with flavors, no one the same. The Ramen is top notch!
WE DROVE FROM NEW ORLEANS TO EXPERIENCE THIS ONE OF A KIND GEM and recommend YOU DO TOO!!!! Thanks for the wonderful hospitality MOTO-I!!!! Kanpai!
I love the food at moto-i. It is absolutely delicious. We talked with our friends for 2 hours and time flew by...we had so much fun. The service was awesome. Our friends we ate with were so delighted they planned to return very soon. We had 4 appetizers...all delicious. Most of us had Ramen as entree - loved it. We had our own Sake tasting too amongst ourselves by sharing. Great time had by all.
