Add a piping hot pie, free range sausages or vegetarian option.. pour on your choice of fresh gravy.. and you'r done. Feel all warm and friendly.
Delicious food and good atmosphere and service.
The menu is short but enough. Small place so I think it is better to book in advance.
Nice cosy place with traditional food: mash, sausages and pies, We tried mash & sausages - it was tasty. Good location - close to Picadilly, very friendly and helpful personnel.
Lovely traditional British comfort food! The place is kinda small but it adds to the ambience. Great puddings too! Will definitely come again!
Very good for the price
Will go back for sure
Best bangers and mash I ever had. Lovely staff, quick service and it just feels like a local gem
Had the pie and mash, it was lovely. Very comforting.
Only very minor critique, is that they had run out of mince and steak pies, since we went on a Monday night. The next delivery on a Tuesday morning.
So plan your timing accordingly.
Very delicious mash with sausage and pie! Would visit again. :)
Great food and great price! We didn’t even know it was there. Great way to finish our day
We chose this restaurant on it's rating and for it's location as we were joining the People's Vote March and wanted a decent meal beforehand. The staff are absolutely lovely, including the guys in the kitchen who I said hello to when visiting the loo. There were 4 of us, a vegetarian husband, a picky 15 year old daughter, a snacker and me, who likes most things. We were all very impressed. The champ is very good and the Cumberland saudages were first class. I cook for a living and I am always looking for highs and lows when I eat out, and I could not fault the food here. Gravy = perfect, so tasty. And the bubble and squeak, 100%. The food was value for money and we left a good tip to show how pleased we were. Well done guys!
Excellent food, service was slow to get their attention but not rushing us from the table which is so common now. Will definitely return
Went out of our way to have their sticky toffee pudding with vanilla cream, because it was that good last time. They did not disappoint. Warm, soft, toffee pudding with cool cream, delivered fast and with a smile.
Nice venue, bright and a modern take on the classic London pie & mash shop. Food is tasty and good for it's price, but not amazing. My wife had the Aberdeen Angus pie which was great, and I had the Smokey sausages, of which one was regular sized and the other looked like it belonged on a kids menu. The mash was good, with excellent gravy.
However our server was grumpy, barely spoke a single word to us or even made eye contact, as well as forgetting one of our dishes. Nor were we asked if we wanted any more drinks, dessert or coffee. Which in turn made us want to leave as soon as we were done. Other staff were friendly, but not ours. With so many other options for food in the area, I think we'd look elsewhere before returning, simply because of the attitude of our server
It was nice.....I’ve had and made better pies!
Sponge pudding was lovely def a tourist trap
Awesome bangers and mash. Excellent choice and great staff. Well done
A wonderful restaurant but as a dairy intolerant person, the allergen board/table is totally inaccurate so beware and make sure the servers check before ordering. This meant that my choices were very, very limited on the menu. A real shame
Good easy place to eat upon arrival. Not fabulous food, but good.
Great food. Very unique.
If you would like to experience English food, Mother’s Mash is a good start. In the busy streets of pubs and restaurants, this is a quaint small eatery with a few tables to watch the locals and tourists as they pass by. The sausages and mash are good for the price, but I was not a fan of the pies. The food is good, but it is English food. Service is slow, but again the sausages were delicious. Don’t ask for ice water - they do not serve ice in their drinks (for us spoiled Americans). Overall good experience.
Growing up in the east end it takes a lot to rival the memory of my grandad's bubble & squeak or the local pie & mash shop back in the day. MotherMash smashed it. Amazing choice of food, delicious and cooked perfectly. The service was fantastic with a friendliness sadly not experienced much these days in central London. Outstanding value too. I absolutely love this place and will return until my belly splits.
The staff are rude and too busy looking at themselves in the mirror to remember to bring the drinks you ordered. There is a layer of dust across the tiles and the glasses were dirty. Terrible
Pie and mash are fabulous but the service I have to say was awful. We have been before a few times and never as bad as this. We were left for ages between being seated and having an order taken and then things were forgotten and not brought out straight away. A pity as the food is very good there and such a good venue. Not sure if I’d go back again!
Took friends from Australia to a pie and mash shop for something different and uniquely British. Service good, price good pie and mash was great and thoroughly enjoyed. Sat outside on a lovely summer evening. The only disappointing thing was there was no liquor left. Not good for a pie and mash shop!! Almost every other pie and mash shop in town was shut on Sunday and you were well situated in Soho.
La nourriture est bonne
Les serveuses sont sympa
Took my best friend here for his 60th Birthday treat last week - it was magnificent!
Food was excellent, lovely and clean and the staff couldn't have been nicer.
Can't wait for my next visit!
Wow. Food was lovely. Pie and mash. We had the cauliflower cheese which was really nice too. The waitress was friendly and really helpful too. Only downside was the narrowness of the bench tables. They were uncomfortably tight.
Amazing food very good spot for a warning meal on a cold day will definitely be back.
Absolutely loved our visit to Mother Mash. The food was delicious - the gingerbread dessert is to die for!
Staff were friendly and accommodating and ensured our visit was effortless.
Restaurant is located right in the heart of Soho next to Carnaby St so easy to get to and definitely worth a visit!!
Very nice place, great food, in the best English tradition. We'll get back soon!
We had a really good dinner, the pie with mashed potatoes was fantastic, the crumble apple pie was very good too.
Really great service. Good British food at very reasonable price.
Simple but super tasty! I suggest sweet potatoes mash and the onion gravy. Fast service. Good quality food and quantity for less than 10£
Pies seemed to not be as good as normal. The pastry was very soft as if they had been microwaved. Staff weren't very friendly.
I would recommend to friends if they are in the area and want something Brit and not too pricey.
The portions on the slightly small side and although it is called Mash....the veggies sausages were not as tasty as expected. Quorn or Linda McCartneys actually do better ones. It was too starchy with the mash.
It would be good to see more veggie/vegan options.
Overall a pretty standard casual restaurant. The vibe from the area certainly helps, but I don't think it was memorable enough to keep returning.
Thank you for your hospitality.
When we arrived our booked table had a dirty bucket on it and was right in the doorway, to the point where my chair was in the path of the door and people were constantly walking past and shaking my chair. The waitress didn't offer to clean it before we sat down and I had to ask her to do so. She didn't offer us menus either or let us know prior to ordering that they were out of menu items. The food was disgusting - I had the Sticky Sausage Salad and it just tasted like they'd poured honey on top of a tiny, limp salad. I would avoid this place completely, I don't understand the hype one bit.
Very fine food, exciting concept! They even adapt to serven gluten- and dairyfree menus! Staff is nice.
Amazing food, great menu and the best mash! Service wasn’t the best but would still recommend.
Really great small restaurant, quick service and good food.
Literally best British foods I had so far.
The best thing about Mother Mash was the food. It tasted good and was quickly delivered to the table. The service was however extremely poor. We booked at 7pm and had to wait until 7:10pm in the rain before a table became available. I ordered a victorian lemonade (which is very tasty) and my girlfriend order a wine. We did however got two victorian lemonades and my girlfriend had to remember the waitress that she ordered a wine instead. We placed our order for the main course and I asked for peas on the side but when the order got delivered these where nowhere to be found. The waitress also just threw the plates on the table while only looking outside which came across as very uninterested. As desert I ordered a sticky toffee pudding which tasted very good but came with very little ice cream. When served the waitress noticed that there was very little ice cream on the plate and said she would get some more. In the end the only thing that got served was the bill.
The food is very tasty
The food was brought quickly
The service was horrendous
all in all a good experience ( good food), but after 30 minutes ( while still having our drinks!) we were asked (kindly but firmly) to leave since there was a large group waiting outside...this never happened to me before in any other place...if a restaurant does not know how to manage table schedule it is surely not the costumer problem...
we were surprised to be asked to leave , but took it with a smile since we understood the pressure that the restaurant owner had been through ( we worked for restaurants ourselves before) - but it was a downside in our total experience....instead of giving 8 , i would give 6.5.....
