Perfectly good, slightly limited menu, but attentive staff
Poor service, no ambience, mediocre to poor food and expensive for what it offers.
No soul, no character, feels abandoned.
In serious need of a lifting job.
Great neighbourhood restaurant with personal touch.
Pleasant neighbourhood restaurant.
Menu a bit too small.
What we ordered was good
I hadn't been back since I was a little girl and it was just as wonderful as I remembered.
Great new owner and I would go again. Staff are amazing.
Good ambiance, good food, good service!
Fantastic food, amazing service and great location: 10/10!
We hadn’t been to Motcombs since it changed ownership. We used to go regularly and always enjoyed it.
The menu is smaller than before, but the food was very good.
The staff were friendly but not very well trained . The waitress passed the plates across the table instead of coming round behind the guests. Difficult to get her attention if we needed something.
Restaurant lacked of atmospehere and buzz.
I hope it will improve with time as it is very convenient for us ( we live in the area).
A bit of training the staff would help.
A lesser known London icon where they immediately make you feel welcome. With beautiful art, clever lighting, comfortable seating and table cloths the ambience is warm and luxurious. The food is simple but not short of exotic ingredients and the portions are generous, offering great value for money in Mayfair.
Motcombs is always a great place, the food is brilliant and the staff helpful and i would recommend the Prawn and Lobster Spaghetti. The seating is pleasant and ambiance very relaxed and enjoyable, always a pleasure to visit this restaurant.
Christmas lunch with the family .... what a disappointment. Only a Christmas menu available...now under new ownership.Same prices but awful food . Spaghetti lobster is now mainly prawns ...spaghetti not good at all. It used to be excellent..have gone here for 15 years. Daughter had a burger ..awful meat .. She left it . Calamari now done with just a side of sweet chilli .. the previous sauce had been amazing....no filo prawns on the menu . Had gone there for the children to have fish goujons that they love and steak frites ...now steak £35... the wine served was not what I ordered...£168 later for 2 adults and 2 kids.
Waiter realised we were not happy and had left ,most of the food. I explained as above but no discount made...
Spent a very pleasant couple of hours here with my wife. Chateaubriand was excellent, staff attentive and friendly, location great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We had a lovely evening at Motcomb's on Saturday. Warmly welcomed and excellent service from Alexandra in particular. Food was also very good. Good variety on the menu.
Great to have white linen table service. Good selection of dishes but I had the Dover Sole, which was delicious, but on the large size for me. My fault for ordering it.
All four of us agreed that the quality of the food was extremely good, complimented by a sensible wine-list, and very attentive service. A most enjoyable lunch experience....
I have visited many times this was dinner with friends from overseas pleased with the improved menu and the classic dishes retained also oysters back on the menu service
Always a nice spot. Good food and attentive service.
Requested a quite room off the main restaurant and they obliged so it was ideal for a business meeting
neighbourhood restaurant in quiet Knightsbridge street - authentic food and professional service
With an excellent lunchtime menu, good wine list and top service, this is a great stop if you find yourself in the area - you might even travel to lunch here! Very good quantities, and the goats cheese and beetroot starter was worth the trip alone. Happily on the list for a return visit.
We had a great evening after an exhibition next door.
Great service and delicious food
Allocated an excellent private table that was perfect - thank you
Always a great experience
really nice lunch outdoors as we enjoy the last of the summer, good food and attentive service
Don’t like shorter lunch menu .Staff were ok but seemed like the”B “ team .Have had great staff on previous occasions .Waitress knocked over table floral decoration on adjacent table . Splashed my guest . No apology! My guest sent steak back because it was over cooked and very tough . Replacement was not much better . No one asked him if 2 nd one any better.Worst Motcombs experience this year but I like the location and I know it can do better .Probably a management issue.
Unfortunately there was a lady having a row with her husband who then walked out leaving her there - she then had the most awful coughing fit - we had to ask if she was OK -she then then proceed to phone and make an appointment to see her consultant. All of this could be heard by the staff but when she left they didn't even say anything to us. Thanks
Love the ambience in this restaurant but having ordered roast beef was somewhat put out when, presented with the bill it appears that I was charged £2 for some horseradish sauce!
Motcombs never fails to please. The menu is varied and full of things you want to try. The portions are nice and generous, the food cooked to perfection and of an extremely high quality. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient too making the whole Motcombs experience a highly enjoyable occasion.
I love this place and will happily continue to return again and again for lunch, Sunday Lunch, dinner, whatever.... I am sure the new breakfast experience is every bit as good too!
Beautifully quiet. Very good Sunday roast and excellent service. Easy, low key option for Sunday lunch.
Great atmosphere without intrusive music (so often a problem these days). Charming, old school service where the order was taken and delivered correctly because the staff write it down. I am horrified when restaurant staff are trying to remember the order and getting it wrong. The decor is pleasing and the whole premises clean and well-lit. Throughly recommended to all discerning diners.
Disappointingly quiet for a Friday evening hence a rather over zealous service! We could have easily been out within an hour should we not have slowed things down. Sadly the restaurant needs to up its game to compete with a fantastic London dining scene. Awful wine glasses too - reminiscent of the sort you get when you hire glasses from wine shops!
Dull atmosphere, inattentive staff, less then average food. We’re surprised with a “bar charge” for table linen and cutlery apparently.
An excellent experience, pleasant friendly staff, lovely food and spotlessly clean. Havent been here for some years, so it was good to see that this delightful restaurant has not changed in that time. We shall return.
discretely tucked away, this is a local treasure with lovely Italian food and very good service. a real local brasserie feel to the place.
Love this restaurant. Food and service is great. Convenient location. Relaxing atmosphere.
Avoid downstairs in December. NOISY PARTIES .
Maitre'd REFUSED to intervene.
Ruined experienced. Will not return
Nice, relaxed ambience. Food ok but onion soup was a far cry from trad french version.
Not impressed with Manager who seemed totally clueless how and unwilling to resolve a table reservation mix up by their staff. One of his staff resolved it the issue.
Conoscevo già il ristorante. È un posto che mi piace molto frequentare quando vengo a Londra.
This is great restaurant serving excellent food and great value got money wine. It really is a buzzing place to meet and chat for relaxed dining. It really is a gem.
